It is interesting to know that the chief Masonic lodge in Italy has communicated with the leading lodges in all the countries of Europe , praying all Masons holding high State positions to do their utmost to bring about a general disarmament in the interests of peace .

Great preparations are being made in connection with the Italian Exhibition , which will be opened at West Brompton on the ist of next month . Large consignments of exhibits are continually arriving from Italy , and everything is btiog done to make the show as attractive as possille .

Princess Henry of Battenberg , witnessed a very ancient Florentine ceremony , known as the Scoppio del Carro , from the Orphanage opposite the Cathedral , on Friday , the 30 th ult ., and on her return to the Villa Palmieri was most cordially greeted by the people . To-morrow ( Saturday ) the King and Queen of Italy will leave Rome for Florence , in order to visit her Majesty , being accompanied on their

According to the report for the past year of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution , 59 new boats , or nearly twice as many as in 1 SS 6 , were dispatched to the coast , the boats at 14 other stations were improved so as to be brought to the level of the most lecent improvements ,

and three new stations , raising the total number to 291 , were established . Tntre were 36 S lives and 10 vessels saved by lifeboats , and 204 persons rescued by shore boats and ether means . A large number of rewards , including silver medals , binocular glassej , and £ 3345 , were granted . The income for the year , including £ 20 , 458 in special gifts , amounted to £ 56 , 970 , and the expenditure to £ 74 , 162 .

M . of the Apollo University Lodge has recently received a letter from Lady Buxton containing £ 21 ; in notes , which were found among her late husband ' s

papers in an envelope with the following instructions outiide it : — " In case of my death I wish the enclosed sum to be given to the Apollo Lodge of Fre = masons at Oxford for Charitable purposes . same name and number in the same city on the 21 st July , 1 S 26 , and was installed a Knight Templar in the Holy and Undivided Trinity Encampment at Harrisburg , on the 25 th October of the same year . In accordance with annual custom , the boys of Christ ' s Hospital visited the Mansion Hou , e on Tuesday , and were presented by Bro . the Lord Mayor , with whom

The transactions of the Metropolitan College of the Rosicrucian Society in England are more than usually interesting , containing , as they do , a lecture by Frater Dr . William W . Westcott , Hon . 9 , Secretary General , on " The Zelator Ritual of the Societas Rosicruciana of the United States of America , " and a report by the same frater on an article published in the " Medium , " of 30 th

September , 1 SS 7 , and entitled " Rosicrucianism : a Trance Discourse by J . B . Tetlow . " On Wednesday evening , as Bro . the Earl of Galloway was walking from Manton to Leicester to catc ' i the late Scotch express , he had the misf jrtune to fall over a railway embankment 40 feet deep . On being picked up

and driven into Leicester , it was found his lordship had fractured one of his arms and sustained a sevtre shock of the system , lt was therefore considered advisable that he should proceed to London in charge of Dr . Johnston ' s assistant , who subsequently set the arm . We trust his lordship will recover as speedily as may be from his injuries .

On the 23 rd ult . there was a most interesting ceremony in the Temple of the Royal York Masonic Lodge at Berlin . Upwards of two thousand Masons had assembled to hold a commemoratlvi service for their departed brother , the Kaiser VVilhelm . The most distinguished

members of the Craft , from all parts of Germany , came to Berlin for the occasion . In the centre of the Temple stood a coffin , on which lay the Three Roses , and the ceremony was carried out according to due Masonic rites . Professor Wagner , delivered a most excellent and impressive address .

At Sandringham on Monday the Prince and Princess of Wales , who were accompanied by the Crown Piince and Princess of Denmark and Prince Albert Victor and his three sisters , received deputations from the corporations of Norwich and Lynn , the former of which presented

an address and replicas of two flagons of the year 1598 and a massive salt-cellar in honour of their Silver Wedding , while the latter presented a model of the Greyfriars Tower . The tenantry subsequently gave a silver hunting horn and timepiece . The various deputations afterwards lunched with their Royal Highnesses .

A Grand Concert and assembly of Lodge Gjvandale , No . 437 , tojk place on the 30 th ult ., in the Masonic Hall , Bjrndyke-street , Govan , Bro . J . M . Malloch , R . W . M . of the lodge , occupied the chair , and was accompanied to the platform by representatives of the various

district lodges . The hall was tastefully decorated , and there wai a large attendance . In the course of the evening Bro . Sir William Pearce , M . and driven into Leicester , it was found his lordship had fractured one of his arms and sustained a sevtre shock of the system , lt was therefore considered advisable that he should proceed to London in charge of Dr . On the 23 rd ult . there was a most interesting ceremony in the Temple of the Royal York Masonic Lodge at Berlin . Upwards of two thousand Masons had assembled to hold a commemoratlvi service for their departed brother , the Kaiser VVilhelm . The most distinguished

members of the Craft , from all parts of Germany , came to Berlin for the occasion . In the centre of the Temple stood a coffin , on which lay the Three Roses , and the ceremony was carried out according to due Masonic rites . Professor Wagner , delivered a most excellent and impressive address .

At Sandringham on Monday the Prince and Princess of Wales , who were accompanied by the Crown Piince and Princess of Denmark and Prince Albert Victor and his three sisters , received deputations from the corporations of Norwich and Lynn , the former of which presented

an address and replicas of two flagons of the year 1598 and a massive salt-cellar in honour of their Silver Wedding , while the latter presented a model of the Greyfriars Tower . The tenantry subsequently gave a silver hunting horn and timepiece . The various deputations afterwards lunched with their Royal Highnesses .
