The "Oueen and the Craft , " "The M . W . Grand Master , H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , " and the Grand Officers , Present and Past" having been proposed from the chair and suitably honoured , the W . M . elect proposed "The Prov . Grand Master , the Deputy Prov . Grand Master , and the Prov . Grand Officers , Present and Past , " and in doing so paid high tribute to the Masonic zeal of Earl Zetland and the Hon . Orde-Powlett , the toast being

received with the usual honours . Bro . J . Earle Wilkinson , l . P . M ., responded , and said that he would endeavour to represent this lodge creditably as a Prov . Grand Officer . Bro . Wilkinson then proposed " The Worshipful Master and prosperity to the Lodge , " and referred to the high position Bro . Manton had attained as a member of the York School Board , his many years' connection with

educational matters and his thoroughness in _ all he did , which they must feel would ensure his maintaining Masonic tenets and the elevation of the Agricola Lodge . The W . M . elect , who had a very hearty reception , responded in his usual spirited fashion , and said he was vain enough to think that the brethren had confidence ^ in him or they would not have placed him in the high position he should occupy during the ensuing year . It was his

intention to " act straight , " and he felt that if Masonry tended to make a man cast aside cant and hypocrisy and to implant in his mind the spirit of Charity , then it was a good thing to have that benign feeling . He lelt Masonry a vast assistance . —not pecuniarily , but in ordering his course of life . Itkept a man from mean or paltry actions . He had looked upon Masonry , with regard to himself , as an additional kicking strap put upon a kicking animal , and which had kept him

safely in the harness that respectable society required him to run in . Having repudiated the sneers of some that Masonry meant good dinners and social intercourse only , he said that such remarks made his blood boil . The speaker touched upon what he described as Ihe giand moving spirit of Masonry—Charity and benevolence . He said the Agricola Lodge would bear comparison with any similar lodge , and his strength should be spent during his year of

office in the service of Masonry , and in advancing the position of the lodge he had the honour of presiding over . The Worshipful Master elect then proposed in very complimentary terms "The Health of the Installing Master , " and Bro . Capt . Hewson responded , remarking that he had felt no greater honour than in installing such a brother as Geo . Manton , who steered straight for the mark . He liked a man such as he who spoke from his heart , and called

a spade a spade . He would do his best for the benefit of the lodge . The W . M . elect proposed " The l . P . M . and Past Masters , " and regretted that Dr . Wigham had been compelled from ill-health to leave the city . Bro . J . E . Wilkinson responded . Bro . D . Young proposed " The Sister Lodges of the Province . " The toast was acknowledged by Bros . Stimpson , King ,

Horner , and Bean . "The Officers of the Lodge " was proposed by the W . M ., and it was suitably acknowledged by the Secretary and others . " The Masonic Charities " was proposed by Bro . Spence , and the Tyler ' s toast and "The Health of the Host " brought a pleasant evening to a close , the harmony of which had been promoted by several good songs with piino accompaniment .
