The harmony of the lodge was general , and many of the brethren contributed songs , svhich greatly added to the eclat of the meeting , and when the time for parting arrived all agreed the evening had passed very pleasantly .

Liberty of Havering Lodge ( No . 1437 ) . —The installation and " coming of age" meeting of the above excellent and fl lurishing lodge took place on Thursday , the 28 th ult ., at the Corn Exchange , and svas a most pleasant and harmonious one , there being present , not only a number of good and true Masons , but the courtesy and liberality of the brethren svas in every respect svorthy
of the lodge and its splendid reputation . The lodge svas opened at 3 . 30 , punctuilly , by Hro . G . VV . King , W . M ., who proceeded to pass Bro . C . Wood . Bro . W . D . Child , S . VV ., and VV . M . elect , svas then presented to him to ree-. ei « e at his hands the benefit of installation , and in due course that brother svas placed in the chair of K . S . and saluted by a properly constituted Boird of Installed Masters and then bv the brethren in the several Decrees . He invested his

The report of " The Commemoration Committee , " svhich recommended a festival and jewel to mark the fact of the 2 ist year of the lodge ' s existence ,
and further that a combined-effort should be made to make the lodge that year a " Vice-President " . of the "Old People ' s" Institution , were unanimously and cordially received a nd agreed to , and the lodge svas . then closed . The banquet , svhich svas served in the handsome Assembly rooms of the Golden Lion , svas aoove all prai-i : ; the fruits , flowers , and all other necessary adjuncts to the copious menu , being fresh from the gardens and grounds of

G . M ., the Earl of Mount Edgcumbe , carried
out their important offices . He earnestly advocated the constant attention of the Master and his Wardens at the Quaiteily Communications of Grand Loelge . They svere not placed like many of their brethren in the North of England and other distant places . They svere svithin a snap-shot of London , and should show an example by their
constant attendance , there were many interestingsuhjects that svere continually cropping up at Grand Lodge . There svas one under notice at the present time , in respect to a svarrant , and other questions svere constantly occuning tbat svould materially assist them to a knowledge of the arduous and responsible duties that svere included in , and svere incidental to , the official life of Grand Lodge . then spoke of the approaching Provincial Grand Lodge meeting at Kelvedon . Sir VV . Abdy svas the Master of the entertaining lodge , and svas strenuously svorking to make the meeting a great success . He svas pleased to be present at their Iodge that day ; as he sasv around him some of the pillars of Masonry in the province , and trusted long to meet them , not only as " good svorking' Masons , but as examples of what could be , and isdone for the sublime
, Charities of the Order . Hro . Humphreys , in a brilliant and svitty speech , returned thanks for " The Prov . Grand Officers Present and Past . " He instanced his own earlier misery svhen he first had to respond to a toast , and in rare vein showed the efforts of others svhom he had svatched in endeavouring to make a speech at all svorthy of the occasion . He eulogised the svork of their Prov . Grand Master , and congratulated the
province on being ruled by one svho had succeeded to the highest honour among the roll of nobles of England . He also congratulated the province on its D . P . G . M . and the svhole of theircoadjutors , and especially upon their esteemed P . G . Secretary , Bro . Rilling , while , as to those nosv around him , their virtues sve-re so patent , that he svould leave praise of Ihem to the fertile imagination of the brethren . Bro . Child , VV . M ., in re-ponding to a hearty reception ,
said it svas 10 years agoss'hen he svas initiated into Masonry by Bro . White , and svas so . impressed by the ceremony that he determined at some future time he svould , if possible , occupy the position then so ably held by Bro . VVhite , and try and emulate his splendid svorking upon that memorable occasion . He was proud of having achieved the position , and they might depend upon it nothing should be svanting on his part to prove himself svorthy of their conlidence .
Nosv svith regard to their 21 st anniversary commemoration , it teemed to him that the lirst grand object of Masonry svas Charity , and . he intended to combine the toasts of " The Past Masters" svith that of " The Charities . " The Charity box svouiel go round and he trusted the response would be such as svould be not only svorthy of the occasion but would be a neurleus around svhich they svould be able to gather a goodly sum for the Charities of the association .
He thankeel them all . Past Masters , officers , and brethren for their great kindness to him , and trusted , svith their assistance , to have a good and prosperous year of office . Bro . King , P . M ., was then presented svith a Past Master ' s jesvel amid rounds of applause , and the toast of his " Health as Installing Officer " was drunk most c lrdiall ) . The toast of " The Past Masters" followed , and Bro . Hardy svas presented with the testimonial voted to him that
day twelve months as a resvaid for installing his successor , for which he returned his heartfelt thanles . Bro . VVhite . in responding for " The Past Masters and the Charities" combined , said the Past Masters had done good service for many years past , and had been well assisted by the brethren of the lodge , especially in the Charity organisation . Their lirst association sent up over a thousand guineas to the Charities ; their second , svhich
svas not so prosperous , , ( , 400 ; and now their present association svas going on well , and hoped to emulate their first . They wanted to make their lodge a Vice-President of the Old People ' s Charity , and some 30 guineas inure paid into that Institution would accomplish their aim . He then entered into a short history of the lodge , and remarked upon its fluctuation , but now it svas in a most flourishing condition , and second to none in the province .
Bros . Manning , Hardy , and Heasman also responded , and the Charity-box , supplemented by the generous contributions of some of the brethren , produced the handsome sum Of 10 guineas . The other toasts ivere " The Visitors , " "The Treasurer and Secretary , " " The Ollicers , " and then the Tyler ' s toast concluded the pleasures ot the evening , svhich ivas enhanced b y the excellent singing of several ot the brethren and visitors .

M . then closed the lodge , and the brethren adjourned to the Crosvn Room , svhere a sumptuous banquet had been prepared by host Bro . VV . Johnson . The taoles
were laid out with choice fruit and ( lowers , and presented a most handsome appearance . The host and hostess svere svarmly eulogised for the able manner in svhich the banquet had been arranged and carried out . The usual 1 iyal and Masonic toasts svere duly honoured , anil a social and enjoyable evening svas spent . Bro . H . Pannell proposed "The Health of the W . M ., " and wished him a prosperous and useful year of office .

constant attendance , there were many interestingsuhjects that svere continually cropping up at Grand Lodge . There svas one under notice at the present time , in respect to a svarrant , and other questions svere constantly occuning tbat svould materially assist them to a knowledge of the arduous and responsible duties that svere included in , and svere incidental to , the official life of Grand Lodge . then spoke of the approaching Provincial Grand Lodge meeting at Kelvedon . Sir VV . Abdy svas the Master of the entertaining lodge , and svas strenuously svorking to make the meeting a great success . He svas pleased to be present at their Iodge that day ; as he sasv around him some of the pillars of Masonry in the province , and trusted long to meet them , not only as " good svorking' Masons , but as examples of what could be , and isdone for the sublime
, Charities of the Order . Hro . Humphreys , in a brilliant and svitty speech , returned thanks for " The Prov . Grand Officers Present and Past . " He instanced his own earlier misery svhen he first had to respond to a toast , and in rare vein showed the efforts of others svhom he had svatched in endeavouring to make a speech at all svorthy of the occasion . He eulogised the svork of their Prov . Grand Master , and congratulated the
province on being ruled by one svho had succeeded to the highest honour among the roll of nobles of England . He also congratulated the province on its D . P . G . M . and the svhole of theircoadjutors , and especially upon their esteemed P . G . Secretary , Bro . Rilling , while , as to those nosv around him , their virtues sve-re so patent , that he svould leave praise of Ihem to the fertile imagination of the brethren . Bro . Child , VV . M ., in re-ponding to a hearty reception ,
said it svas 10 years agoss'hen he svas initiated into Masonry by Bro . White , and svas so . impressed by the ceremony that he determined at some future time he svould , if possible , occupy the position then so ably held by Bro . VVhite , and try and emulate his splendid svorking upon that memorable occasion . He was proud of having achieved the position , and they might depend upon it nothing should be svanting on his part to prove himself svorthy of their conlidence .
Nosv svith regard to their 21 st anniversary commemoration , it teemed to him that the lirst grand object of Masonry svas Charity , and . he intended to combine the toasts of " The Past Masters" svith that of " The Charities . " The Charity box svouiel go round and he trusted the response would be such as svould be not only svorthy of the occasion but would be a neurleus around svhich they svould be able to gather a goodly sum for the Charities of the association .
He thankeel them all . Past Masters , officers , and brethren for their great kindness to him , and trusted , svith their assistance , to have a good and prosperous year of office . Bro . King , P . M ., was then presented svith a Past Master ' s jesvel amid rounds of applause , and the toast of his " Health as Installing Officer " was drunk most c lrdiall ) . The toast of " The Past Masters" followed , and Bro . Hardy svas presented with the testimonial voted to him that
day twelve months as a resvaid for installing his successor , for which he returned his heartfelt thanles . Bro . VVhite . in responding for " The Past Masters and the Charities" combined , said the Past Masters had done good service for many years past , and had been well assisted by the brethren of the lodge , especially in the Charity organisation . Their lirst association sent up over a thousand guineas to the Charities ; their second , svhich
svas not so prosperous , , ( , 400 ; and now their present association svas going on well , and hoped to emulate their first . They wanted to make their lodge a Vice-President of the Old People ' s Charity , and some 30 guineas inure paid into that Institution would accomplish their aim . He then entered into a short history of the lodge , and remarked upon its fluctuation , but now it svas in a most flourishing condition , and second to none in the province .
Bros . Manning , Hardy , and Heasman also responded , and the Charity-box , supplemented by the generous contributions of some of the brethren , produced the handsome sum Of 10 guineas . The other toasts ivere " The Visitors , " "The Treasurer and Secretary , " " The Ollicers , " and then the Tyler ' s toast concluded the pleasures ot the evening , svhich ivas enhanced b y the excellent singing of several ot the brethren and visitors .

The host and hostess svere svarmly eulogised for the able manner in svhich the banquet had been arranged and carried out . The usual 1 iyal and Masonic toasts svere duly honoured , anil a social and enjoyable evening svas spent . Bro . H . Pannell proposed "The Health of the W . M ., " and wished him a prosperous and useful year of office .
