Masonic Notes .

The Prince of Wales , M . W . G . M ., will complete the 50 th or Jubilee year of his age on Monday next , having been born on thepth November , 1841 , and vve trust his Royal Hi g hness will be spared for many years to preside over the Craft , whose destinies he has

successf u ll y guided for the last 17 years . It has been said that steps will be taken in London and elsewhere to worthil y celebrate this auspicious event , in vvhich case we hope a means will be found whereb y th e c el eb ratio n of th e jubilee of his birth may be combined with that of the

jubilee of the birth of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , vvhich vvas ushered into existence in the earl y days of 1842 under the auspices of the Prince ' s great uncle , the late Duke of Sussex , the then Grand Master of United Grand Lodge .

It svill be seen from the report vve publish elsewhere that the Masonic gathering at Salisbury on Saturday last , vvhen Bro . the Earl of Radnor was installed Prov . Grand Master of Wiltshire , in succession to the late Bro . Lord Methuen , b y H . R . H . the Dukeof Connaug ht ,

Past Grand Master of England , vvas a most brilliant and successful one . As vve anticipated last week , the attendance of our Wiltshire brethren to greet their new chief was exceptionally large , and the importance of the proceedings was further enhanced by the presence

of several of the great dignitaries of the Order . We congratulate Bro . the Earl of Radnor on his induction into so important an office , and vve hope his lordship may have a long and prosperous reign , as long and as prosperous as vvas that of his predecessor .

Very sincere regret will be felt at the loss sustained by the Craft in the London district through the death , after a somewhat protracted illness , of Bro . A . Escott . The deceased had the reputation of being one of the

most expert workers in Royal Arch Masonry , vvas a diligent student of our mysteries , and a very generous supporter of our Institutions . Indeed , it svas only in the course of the past summer that he vvas elected a

member of the Board of Management of the Boys School , He had heen connected for marvy years with the Royal Naval School , Greensvich , where he will be specially missed .
