A very interesting lecture was delivered by Bro . James Stevens , P . M ., P . Z ., in the Hornsey Lodge of Instruction , No . 890 , at Lewisham , on Thursday , the 28 th ult . So far as we are aware , for the first time 'n connection with Masonic instruction , the aid of the limelight lantern was brought into requisition , under the able direction of Bro . Walter Clement Tyler , S . D . 860 , with the result that a full and lucid exposition of the hidden meaning of the most important Masonic symbols and their moral significations was presented to a highly appreciative audience ,

consisting of the members of the lodge and numerous visitors from sister lodges , Some 60 beautifully-coloured representations connected with Ancient Freemasonry and subjects relating thereto , with several diagrams prepared by the lecturer were exhibited and explained . Bro . Stevens kept his audience in earnest attention for two hours , and at the termination of their pleasant labours , both Bro . Tyler and himself were heartily congratulated , and were the recipients of a cordial vote of thanks . About 80 brethren were present , and but for the inclemency of the weather , a yet larger attendance would have been ensured .
