The PROV . GRAND MASTER announced with regret that , owing to his advancing years and the state of his health , Bro . F . G . Buckle , who for a quarter of a century had filled the office of Secretary of the province with so much ability , and to the satisfaction of the brethren , had felt it necessary to resign the position . He moved that the best tfianks of the province be given to Bro . Buckle for the valuable services he had rendered the brethren during his tenure of the office . ( Applause . )

On the motion of Bro . CLARABUT , seconded by Bro . DORMAN , a vote of sympathy with Bro . J . Haviland , the Dep . P . G . M ., on his absence , through illness , was carried with equal unanimity . Bro . YOUNG conveyed to the Prov . Grand Lodge an invitation from the brethren of the Merit Lodge to hold the next annual provincial meeting at Stamford .

Bro . HARRY MANFIELD conveyed a similar invitation from the brethren of the Pomfiet Lodge to hold the meeting at Northampton . The Stamford brethren ultimately conceded their claim to Northampton , it being understood that the succeeding meeting should be held at the border town . An excellent banquet was afterwards served .

Unfortunately for them Lord Dunga van h id been again called away to South Africa in command of his troop to fight the battles of his country . They trusted that he would return to them unscathed as on the former occasion .

Bro . CHAS . L . FRY EDWARDS , Prov . G . Treas ., presented the accounts , which showed that a balance of , £ 49 13 s . 2 d . remained in the hands of the frov . G . Treasurer , and that a sum of about 130 guineas had been given w Charity during the year . There had been an increase of about 30 members throughout the province during the year . PROVINCIAL GRAND LODGE OF GLOUCESTERSHIRE .

The annual festival of the above Prov . Grand Lodge was held on the 28 th ult ., at Dursley , under the presidency of St . John ' s Lodge , No . 761 , and the arrangements made by the local brethren were thoroughly satisfactory . The gathering was favoured with beautiful summer weather , and there

was a large attendance representative of the several lodges in the province . In the morning an admirable recital was given in the Parish Church , when there was a full congregation . Bro . W . H . Morgan , P . P . G . Organist , was at the organ , and had charge of the proceedings , admirable selections being given .

Prov . Grand Lodge met at St . John ' s Schools at 2 30 , under the presidency of Bro . the Right Hon . Sir Michael E . Hicks-Beach , Bart ., M . P ., P . G . W . England , Prov . G . M ., supported by Bro . R . V . Vassar Smith , P . G . D . England , D . P . G . M .

The minutes of the last meeting of the Prov . G . Lodge having been read and confirmed , the DEP . PROV . G . MASTER , in the absence of the Charity Secretary ( Bro . Sumner ) , owing to an accident , read the report of the Charity Committee , and moved its adoption , which was seconded b y Bro . WATSON , and carried .

Bro . BRUTON , Prov . G . Treas ., presented his report , which showed that the year opened with a balance in hand of , £ 93 1 is . 1 id ., and closed with one of £ 137 us . 4 d ., the largest balance ever shown in the books of the Prov . G . Lodge . The report was adopted , and Bro . Bruton was unanimously re-elected Prov . G . Treasurer .

Bro . Window having resigned the office of Prov . G . Tyler , owing to failing eyesight , Bro . Twitchett , Tyler of ihe Sherborne and Hicks-Beach Lodges , was elected to succeed him , on the motion of the DEP . PROV . G . MASTER , seconded by the PROV . J . G . W . The sum of 10 guineas was voted to the fund being raised as a

testimonial to Bro . Window , who has been Tyler to the Lodge of Sympathy for 36 years , and who has displayed a wide and varied knowledge of the ritual and history of Freemasonry , the PKOV . G . MASTER remarking that there was no keener Mason in the province , and expressing the deep regret of Prov . G . Lodge at hearing of his serious ill-health .

The expenses of the Provincial Charity Secretary were ordered to be paid , and the sum of 10 guineas was voted to him for Charity purposes . Bro . BAKER read the report of the Tewkesbury Abbey Restoration Committee , which showed that the work of restoring the cloister and cloister

wall was being carefully carried out by Bro . Godfrey , under the instructions of Mr . J . Scott , the architect . Ir . reply to the Prov . G . Master , Bro . BAKER said the cost of the work would be . £ 534 , and the Tewkesbury Lodge had raised nearly the £ 200 required of them , Bro . Baker accepting responsibility for the balance .

It was resolved to postpone a vote from the funds of Prov . G . Lodge to next year . The roll of lodges having been called over , the Prov . G . Master appointed and invested the Officers of Prov . G . Lodge for the ensuing year as follows :

Prov . G . Master and received with approval . A collection was taken and devoted to the local nursing fund . In the evening the banquet was held at the Lamb and Lark Hotel , the Dep . Prov . Grand Master presiding . There was a large gathering of brethren .

PROVINCIAL GRAND LODGE OF GLOUCESTERSHIRE .

The annual festival of the above Prov . Grand Lodge was held on the 28 th ult ., at Dursley , under the presidency of St . John ' s Lodge , No . 761 , and the arrangements made by the local brethren were thoroughly satisfactory . The gathering was favoured with beautiful summer weather , and there

was a large attendance representative of the several lodges in the province . In the morning an admirable recital was given in the Parish Church , when there was a full congregation . Bro . W . H . Morgan , P . P . G . Organist , was at the organ , and had charge of the proceedings , admirable selections being given .

Prov . Grand Lodge met at St . John ' s Schools at 2 30 , under the presidency of Bro . the Right Hon . Sir Michael E . Hicks-Beach , Bart ., M . P ., P . G . W . England , Prov . G . M ., supported by Bro . R . V . Vassar Smith , P . G . D . England , D . P . G . M .

The minutes of the last meeting of the Prov . G . Lodge having been read and confirmed , the DEP . PROV . G . MASTER , in the absence of the Charity Secretary ( Bro . Sumner ) , owing to an accident , read the report of the Charity Committee , and moved its adoption , which was seconded b y Bro . WATSON , and carried .

Bro . BRUTON , Prov . G . Treas ., presented his report , which showed that the year opened with a balance in hand of , £ 93 1 is . 1 id ., and closed with one of £ 137 us . 4 d ., the largest balance ever shown in the books of the Prov . G . Lodge . The report was adopted , and Bro . Bruton was unanimously re-elected Prov . G . Treasurer .

Bro . Window having resigned the office of Prov . G . Tyler , owing to failing eyesight , Bro . Twitchett , Tyler of ihe Sherborne and Hicks-Beach Lodges , was elected to succeed him , on the motion of the DEP . PROV . G . MASTER , seconded by the PROV . J . G . W . The sum of 10 guineas was voted to the fund being raised as a

testimonial to Bro . Window , who has been Tyler to the Lodge of Sympathy for 36 years , and who has displayed a wide and varied knowledge of the ritual and history of Freemasonry , the PKOV . G . MASTER remarking that there was no keener Mason in the province , and expressing the deep regret of Prov . G . Lodge at hearing of his serious ill-health .

The expenses of the Provincial Charity Secretary were ordered to be paid , and the sum of 10 guineas was voted to him for Charity purposes . Bro . BAKER read the report of the Tewkesbury Abbey Restoration Committee , which showed that the work of restoring the cloister and cloister

wall was being carefully carried out by Bro . Godfrey , under the instructions of Mr . J . Scott , the architect . Ir . reply to the Prov . G . Master , Bro . BAKER said the cost of the work would be . £ 534 , and the Tewkesbury Lodge had raised nearly the £ 200 required of them , Bro . Baker accepting responsibility for the balance .

It was resolved to postpone a vote from the funds of Prov . G . Lodge to next year . The roll of lodges having been called over , the Prov . G . Master appointed and invested the Officers of Prov . G . Lodge for the ensuing year as follows :
