After the usual loyal toasts had been duly honoured , "The Health of the VVorshipfuI Master" svas proposed by the I . P . M ., svho said : It is nosv my privilege and pleasure to propose to you that toast , svhich is rightly considered the toa « t of the evening , and I ask vou to drink to the health and prosperity of our W . M . VVe have already shosvn our

appreciation of him by p lacing him in the chair of this lodge , and svhatever I might say svould not increase the respect and esteem svith svhich he is held by all the members . We all know the deep interest he takes in Masnnry , and I feel confident that he svill take a lead in the svelfare of the affairs of the lodge , and I am sure sve can congratulate ourselves in having him at our head , and that sve can look forward to a most successful year , both as regards initiates ancl a good balance at the end of the vear .

correctness of his svorking of the several ceremonies , and the manner in svhich he had held up the tenets of the Craft , and was very pleased to bear testimony to the excellent manner in which tbe lodge had been conducted during the past year , and concluded by saying that the I . P . M . svas not only an efficient Master , but a true and faithful friend .

The I . P . M ., in reply , said : I thank you most sincerely for the kind and cordial reception given to this toast , and the VV . M . for the too flattering manner in svhich hehad proposed it . I have onl y done my duty in the loelge , and that to the best of my ability . The duties I have had to perform have been to me most pleasurable ones . I cannot sit dosvn without thanking you all for the great

Borough of Greenwich Lodge ( No . 2332 ) . —The svonderful progress of the above lodge since its consecration , some seven years ago , is certainly a startling instance of the necessity for its existence , and amply justifies its founders in their application for its warrant on the grounds of "the svant of a home for Masonry at East Greenwich . " Itisstrong in numberssound in its finances ,

, and earnest in Ihe cause of Charity , svhile the excellent working of its Masters and officers is , and alsvays has been , a theme for the admiration of all svho have the honour and privilege of entering svithin its "sacred svalls . " This svas fully proved on Wednesday , the 28 th ult ., when Bro . Wm . H . Burney , J . W ., W . M . elect , svas installed Master of the

lodge in the presence , and svith the assistance , of a large anel influential body of Masons from far and near . The lodge svas opened by the W . M ., Bro . A . H . M .. the Earl of Lathom . "

having been duly honoured , The VV . M . proposed that of " The R . W . Dep . G . M ., the Earl of Mount Edgcumbe , and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past , " svhich he coupled svith the name of Bro . Terry , and the Masonic Charities . He said as Bro . Terry hael a long svay to go , he svould more

particularly speak of the Charities , and svas proud to say that the Borough of Greensvich Lodge had sent up a Stesvard to one of the Charities every year since its formation . Their esteemed Bro . Oakley that year had taken up 100 guineas to the Boys' Festival , and he ( the VV . M . ) meant to go up next year for the Benevolent Institution , and he felt

sure they svould send him up svith a list svorthy of the lodge and its reputation . They had an institution attached to the lodge , svhereby every brother svho paid sixpence per sveek , svould , in due time , become a Life Governor of one , or , if he continued paying , all ofthe Charities . Bro . Terry , in referring to their Pro and Deputy Grand Masters , said he felt sure there svas no need for him to say one word in the Borough of

Greensvich Lodge as to the many excellences and qualifications of those distinguished noblemen and brethren , both in the svork of Grand Lodge , or in their private capacity . So far as the other G . Officers , past and present , svere concerned , he could only say that they svere proud of the honour conferred on them , and he trusted some day to see some of the Past Masters of that lodge—their first Master ( Bro . Boord ) svas a Past Grand Officer—occupying the position of

a Grand Officer in Grand Lodge . He had that day been asked by Bro . McLeod , the Secretary of the Boys' School , to thank their I . P . M . and the lodge for the very handsome support rendered his Institution at the last annual festival , svhen over 100 guineas svas taken up by Bro . Oakley . The year 1 S 94 was a most successful year for the Institutions , no less than £ 50 , 000 had been subscribed by the Masons of England to the Charities ot the Order !; not a trifle to raise

among them , but one that they svere proud of . The Secretaries of other institutions looked upon the Masons of England ssith a great deal of jealousy , that svas to say , the Masonic Institutions svhich still kept up their payments and put something by for arainy day . The VV . M . had told him and them that he intended to stand Stesvard for the Benevolent Institution in February next , for which he ( Bro . Terry ) thanked him , but whether they went for the Boys' , Girls ' ,

or Old People , their prime object svas to keep up the grand Institutions of the Order . At the present time they had a hundred applicants for the benefits of the Benevolent Institution , and only four vacancies , that svould shosv them the necessity of unceasing efforts on the part of all , and svhen the time came round in February next , he trusted to have a good account to give of their kindnessand generosity , and he strongly advised them , betsveen nosv and then , to get

their money ready for the VVorshipfuI Master's list . The I . P . M . then proposed the toast of "The W . M . " svho , he said , was one of the founders of the lodge in 18 S 7 , and svho had gone through the offices held in it svith credit to himself , and also to the lodge . Both in the lodge , and at the lodge of instruction , Bro . Burney had shosvn his capability for the high and important office he now held , and in his hands the prestige of the lodge svas safe , and svould lose none of its lustre .

Bro . Burney , svho was received svith hearty applause , said he thanked Bro . Oakley , P . M ., for his kind remarks , and the brethren for their cordial reception of the toast , and he hoped that at the end of his year of office , he svould leave the chair svith the same credit that their I . P . M . had . TheW . M . then proposed the toast of "The Installing Officer , " and after speaking highly of the manner in svhich

Bro . Oakley had performed his arduous task , pinned a handsome and valuable Past Master ' s jesvel on his—Bro . Oakley's breast , and , in the name of the lodge , hoped that he might long live to svear it . Bro . Oakley having returned thanks , Bro . Roberts replied for "The Past Masters . "

Bros . Salter , Bonner , and others responded for "The Visitors , " and "The Initiates , " "Officers , " and Tyler ' s toasts concluded the proceedings . Bros . Bell , Corum , A . E . Brett , Carpenter , Cockton , and Waller contributed to the harmony , and the svliole affair svas a splendid Masonic treat .

Hiram Lodge ( No . 2416 ) . —The election meeting svas held at Freemasons' Hall , on the 28 th ult . Bro . F . A . Powell , W . M ., was supported by his officers : Bros . H . T . Bonner , S . Degree , and Bro . Bonner svas raised . Several gentlemen were proposed for initiation . Bro . Horace T . Bonner svas elected W . M ., Bro . F . R . Talloiv , Treasurer , and G . Austin , Tyler .

M .. the Earl of Lathom . "

having been duly honoured , The VV . M . proposed that of " The R . W . Dep .
