THEALEXANDRIACIGARETTECO.'S NEW BRAND . DRAGOUMIS. PREPARED OF THE PUREST TURKISH TOBACCOS . The highest classes of tobacco , however , are converted into the well-known " Dragoumis , " for which the Alexandria Cigarette Company have gained a deservedly high reputation , and we have no hesitation in saying , after a practical test so far as our taste and judgment permit , that they are superior to any we have yet tried , either imported orotherwise . — Whitehall Review Their latest brand , " Dragoumis , " made of a skilful blend of fine Egyptian tobaccos , is full of flavour , yet delicately fragrant enough to please the most fastidious palate . We shall be surprised if " Dragoumis " do not prove the cigarette of the season . —Pump Court .

PROVINCIAL CALENDARS . 4 . DORSET . The " Dorset Masonic Calendar" for 1 S 89 is an extraordinary publication , and reflects the greatest credit on Bro . John A . Sherren , the editor and publisher , of Weymouth . We know not of its equal , so far , in England , or elsewhere , as a purely provincial and local Calendar , the

information being practically exhaustive and perfect as respects arrangement . The Calendar is of age this year , being the 2 ist issue , and certainly the event is aoly commemorated by the preparation , printing , and publication by Bro . Sherren of tne most voluminous Masonic Directory ot the kino in the world . If any brotner considers that our encomium is too lavish , we recommend him to speculate

in a copy , by sending 13 penny stamps to the Editor , 79 , St . Mary-street , Weymouth , and we shall de much mistaken if he will not be more inclined to add to our words of praise rather than to lessen our warm approval of this most elaborate compilation . We hope tnac tne members belonging to the Province of Dorset will not be slow to evince their gratitude for such a trusty vade mecum ,

and clear out the edition as rapidly and heartily as it deserves , lo those familiar with the duties discharged oy editors of Provincial Calendars , the enumeration of the contents of the foregoing publication will enable them to judge oi the character and extentof the labour Bra . Sherren has devoted to his pet enterprise . Brethren who have not the practical knowledge of such laborious duties , but are

readers of our careful reviews of all the Calendars circulated in England , can , at all events , understand and appreciate the varied particulars provided , and will agree with us that had every province a similar publication issued annually by authority—such as the Calendar for Dorset—a manifest improvement would take place , to the great advantage of all concerned . In this Directory , we may first

enumerate the following : 1 , Preface , 3 , Contents , 3 , Calendar , 18 S 9 , 4 , List of lodge meetings ( a table for the year for the 13 lodges ) , also similar lables for the chapters , Mark lodges , and other Degrees worked in the province , and 5 , a Masonic Calendar for the various Rites , l'he four pages devoted to " Masonic Notes , " comprising Returns , fees , Duties , & c , are interesting and valuable

aids to Masters and Secretaries , based on the Book of Constitutions . They may be termed Masonic ' Jurisprudence in a nutshell . The complete roll of Grand Lodge Oflicers , and members of the Boards , also another for the Prov . G . Lodge , having been given , there follows a register of the Past Officers of Prov . G . Lodge , who are still subscribing to lodges and thus retain their right to vote . The

next Table must have been a serious matter to prepare , as it is devoted to the Prov . G . Officers from 1780 to 1 S 8 S , according to rank , the years being noted ot service , not even overlooking the Stewards . There have been nine Provincial Grand Masters , but we note that Bro . Sherren dates Bro . Dunckerley ' s appointment from 17 S 0 , whereas

the G . L . Calendar gives the year 178 G . We aie inclined to believe in an earlier date than 17 S 6 , having a memo of 1783 . We should like to know what authority there is for A . D . 1780 . We agree also with the editor that the second Prov . G . M . was . Sir John Lester , the official Calendar leaving out the prefix . The places of meeting from
