"T UB RELIIJUARY AND ILLUSTRATED ARCH . EOLOIIIST , " London , Bemrose and _ Sons , Limited , 23 , Old Bailey . E . C , and Derby . This is the opening number of a blication representing a brace of old and valued friends joined into one— "T HE RELIQUARY , " which was founded L iSGo by the late Llewellynn Jewitt , F . S . A ., and the "I LLUSTRATED ARCH . KOLOGIST , " which was started a „ ear and a half ago , and of which only six quarterly parts

t ad been issued , lhe two have been amalgamated because they possessed so many features in common , and because also it has appeared to the proprietors that by combining all the excellent points of both , the present publication will appeal more strongly to the general public , to whom matters of special interest , and requiring special knowledge to appreciate them , will be presented in a popular form . Thepublishershope that their purpose may , be achieved

by the pains and enterprise they intend devoting to the new serial , and the present number augurs well for the fulfilment of their hopes . The most noteworthy of its contents are a paper on the " Monumental Effigy at Llanermon-in-Yale , Denbighshire , " by Stephen W . Williams , F . S . A ., with coloured illustration ; " Wall Paintings , at Kirkby Hall , " by H . Swainson Cowper ,

F . S . A ., wilh illustrations ; and "A Survey of the Existing Remains of the Priory Church of the Holy Trinity , Micklecate , York , " by Walter Brook , with illustrations . The whole is under the editorship of j . Romilly Allen , F . S . A . Scot ., and as the journal is beautifully printed on good paper , as well as numerously and ably illustrated , we have every hope that it will prove a great success . It will be issued quarterly at the modest price of half-a-crown per number .

LINCOLN . Witham Lodge ( No . 297 ) . —The first meeting in the recently erected Freemasons' Rooms was held on Monday , the 14 th ult ., and was attended by a large number of Lincoln brethren and visitors from lodges in the province . Bro . VV . H . H . Moore , W . M ., was in the chair , and was . supported by all his officers and many of the Past Masters .

The Deputy Prov . G . M ., Bro . VV . II . Sissons , was present , and assisted the W . M . in initiating two gentlemen into the Craft . A very pleasing presentation was made to thelodge by Bro . R . Whitton of a very unique illuminated roll of the names of the Installed Masters since 1793 , and was thc work of Mr . E . Vickers , son of the respected Prov . Grand Secretary , the elaborate detail being very much admired .

The election of W . M . for the ensuing year resulted in the unanimous election of Bro . R . A . W . Brass . Bro . J . Dawson was elected Treasurer . The Mayor of the city , Bro . A . W . Hall ; the Sheriff of the city . Bro . J . H . White ; together with Bros . Elmott and Dunn , were elected Auditors . The D . P . G . M . warmly congratulated the brethren of the Witham and St . attached , which had been so carefully arranged by Bro . Mortimer , to whom he paid a high compliment , as also to the builder , Bro . Close . Owing to delays , the building could not be completed during his year of oflice , and the Wardens generously stood aside in order that Bro .
