Two propositions having be ^ n made , the 1 > dge was closed . About 90 breihren afterwards sat down at ihe Ro >; il Hole ! ( o a dinner , which was splendidly served , and did great credit to the resources of Avonmouth .

The subsequent speeches were admirably brief , the main features being the interchange of courtesies between the two Provinces of Gloucestersh ' ue and Bristol , which are intimately associated in promoting the Masonic Charities , and some pleasant banter about the possibility of Avonmouth being absorbed into Bristol .

On Wednesday , the 30 th ult ., was consecrated a new Masonic Iodge at the Town Hall by the Prov . G . Master of Middlesex , Bro . Lord George Hamilton , M . P ., P . G . W ., assisted by Bro . Raymond H . Thrupp , P . A . G .

D . C , Dep . Prov . G . Master , and the other Prov . G . Officers , including Bros . Jabez Church , Prov . S . G . W . ; Goodchild , Prov . J . G . W . ; the Rev . P . Henderson Aitken , Prov . G . Chap . ; H . H . Room , Prov . G . Sec . ; J . Adams , Prov . G . D . C ; and R . W . Bilby , Prov . G . Treas .

For some yea-s the need of a Masonic lodge has been felt in Statnes , and more than one attempt has been made to establish one , but without success until now , and it is in a great measure due to the indefatigable exertions of the first J . W ., Bro . R . FJX Warner , that the lodge commences its career

with such a brill . nt promise for its future . The first W . M . is Bro . W . H . Gardener , P . P . S . G . W . Barks , aid under his direction , and a ststed by Bro . R . J . Ball , P . P . G . Briscoe , who is not a founder The beautiful ceremony of consecration was ably performed by Lord George Hamilton , Provincial Grand Mister , and his officers , whilst the musical portion of the service was beautifully rendered by a choir under the direction of Bro . T . W . Walford , Prov . G . Org . Berks .

The Deputy Provincial Grand Master installed Bro . W . H . Gardener , as Worship ful Master for ths ensuing year , arid the latter , on behalf of the founders of the lodge , then presented Lord Gaorge Hamilton with a founder's jewel as a mark of their appreciition of his kindness in coming to consecrate the lodge .

The brethren afterwards adjourned to the Victoria H ill , where a bmquet was provided by Mr . E . H . Blarney , of this town , whose efforts were fully appreciated by the brethren . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were given and duly hon jured . The music was again under the direction of Bro . T . W . Walford , and

the efforts of Bros . G . May , H . Stubbs , G . Stubbs and R . de Lacy , of St . Paul ' s Cathedral were , thoroughly appreciated as they deserved to be , for itwas a real musical treat . The toast of "The Visitors" was duly proposed and honoured , each visitor who responded wishing Staines Lodge , No . 2536 , every success .

The Lodge of Architects and Surveyors having been very successful , the members oblained a warrant for a Royal Arch Chapter , and on Wednesday , the 30 th ult ., the consecration took place . The Consecrating Officer , Comp . Edward Letchworth , Grand Scribe E .

Comp . Rev . J . S . BROWNRIGG delive-ed an ora'ion . co-nparing the studios and works of archiieccs w * th the bjilding up of the Masonic and ordinary life of the members of o ir Craft . This was composed and delivered with great ability in the well known style of the distinguished companion .

After the completion of the ceremony of consecration , the Grand Scribe E . proceeded to instal Comps . H . Lovegrove as M . E . Z . ; E . W . Lewcock as H . ; and F . A . Powell as J . Comp . H . J . Adams was elected and invested as Treasurer , and Comp . G . Elkington as S . N . Comp . G . Austin was elected Janitor . The other officers will be elided at the first regular meeting on the 13 th inst .

The M . E . Z . proposed a vole of thanks to the Consecrating Officer , and t was resolved that he a id the other Grand Ollieers who had assisted bs elected lunorary members .

Consecration Of The Hiram Royal Arch Chapter.

The companions adjourned to the Sussex Room for the banquet , which was satisfactory , except for the temperature , which was so cold that thc after proceedings were shortened . The usual toasts were proposed by the M E . Z . and well received . Comp . E . LuTCirwoRTir , Grand Scribe E ., proposed " The Health of

the M . E . Z ., " who , in responding , stated that it was the 15 th time that he had presided over a Masonic body , and the third time over a Royal Arch chapter ; he also referred to the assistance he would receive from his officers , especially Comp . Lewcock , IL , who had made the ritual of the chapter a subject of constant study .

A long list of names was read over for exaltation at the regular meeting so that the chapter has a most hopeful start . Besides the Grand Officers and founders there were present Comps . H . The charter had never been acted upon , and theCommitteeconsid ; redit right that the charter should be returned as soon as possible , and th it the chapter be erased , nut that the companions should be summoned to show cause wh y it should not be erased , as the chapter had never been consecrated .

Comp . FRANK RICHARDSON seconded ihe motion , which was then put and carried . Comp . RODERT GREY said the Committee recommended that inasmuch as the Pythagorean Chapter , No . 447 , Co fu , which had made no return since 1865 , and the lodge to which it was attached had been erased , had not replied to the order sent to it by order of the Grand Chapter , the chapter be erased from the list of chapters .
