INSTRUCTION .

Bro . James Smith , W . M ., - said they had met that evening to do honour to one who had worked for 12 years indefatigably as Secretary of that lodge of instruction ; in fact , it was only by the exertions of Bro . Pitt that the lodge had held together . He was glad to say he now held the proud position of W . M . of his mother lodge , No . 193 , and furthermore he could say that position was only obtained

by hard work , and that work was done in the lodge of instruction . He should call upon Bro . Fells , I . P . M ., to make the presentation . Bro . Fells on rising said : Bro . Pitt , it affords me much pleasure on behalf ot the brethren present who have subscribed their mite to present you with a pair of gold mounted eye-glasses , also a handsome silver snuff-box , suitably engraved . May you live long to wear the eye-glasses , and

may we in years to come partake of a pinch of snuff together . Bro . Pitt said he did not know how to express his gratitude . He did not know why the brethren present should empty their purses on his behalf . He would do his very best for the benefit of the brethren . He hoped he should enjoy the presents for years , and sincerely thanked the brethren for them .

Bro . Lemere , P . M ., said he would advise Bro . Pitt not to depend too much upon the P . M . at the lodge of instruction . They had fufilled a task , and oftentime in middle and old age home duties called them away , and they to a certain extent did require rest , but it was from the young Masons he must recruit his ranks , as they had a splendid work in the future of Freemasonry .

He could only describe Bro . Pitt as a cork on the surface of the water , but he must

fish for young Masons not the old P . Ms . There were present Bros . Jas . Smith , W . M . ; Fells , I . P . M . ; Lemere . P . M . ; Biddle , P . M . ; Shacknell , P . M . ; Wood , S .
