The banquet that followed being most ably presided over by the M . E . Z ., whose eloquent remarks in proposing the various toasts were highly appreciated by the companions . ROSE OF DENMARK CHAPTER ( No . 97 s ) . —The installation meeting of this prosperous chapter vvas held at the Star and Garter Hotel , Kew Bridge , on Saturday , the 3 rd inst . Present : Comps . Wm . Dodd , M . E . Z . ; Alfred W . Wells , H . ; A . [ . Shotter , [ . ; B . E . Ulasby , S . E . ; W . H . Chalfont , P . S . ; W . F . Reynolds , ist A . S . ; Hy . Sapsworth , 2 nd A . The convocation was opened in due form , and the minutes read and confirmed . The following companions were then installed into their respective chairs by Comp . S . Brooks
P . Z .: Comps . Alfred W . Wells , M . E . Z . ; Alfred J . Shotter , H . ; and B . E . Blasby , J . The officers invested were Comps . W . Dodd , S . E . ; W . H . Chalfont , P . S . , * W . F . Reynolds , ist A . S . , * H . Sapsworth , 2 nd A . S . ; S . Brooks , P . Z ., Treas . ; and Gilbert , Janitor . Owing to the unavoidable absence of Comp . Haynes , his investiture as S . N . was postponed . Ballot having been successfully
taken in favour of Bros . H . C . Lansdown , 1541 , and Chas . Coombs , W . M . 7 S 0 , they were impressively exalted to the Royal Arch Degree . The report of the Audit Committee vvas received and adopted , and a letter vvas read from Comp . Geo . Everett stating that he was at Bournemouth for the good of his health and that his attendance at the chanter vvas therefore doubtful . Other routine business
having been transacted , the convocation was closed , and the companions adjourned to an excellent banquet , admirably served under the superintendence of the worthy host , Comp . Brill . "The Oueen and Royal Arch Masonry" having been duly honoured , the M . E . Z . gave "H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , Grand Z ., " remarking that the influence of H . R . H .
had benefited Masonry to a large extent . Since the accession to office of the present Grand Z . the number of lodges and chapters had been considerably extended . He ( the M . E . Z . ) congratulated the members of Grand Lodge that the sum of £ 500 vvas voted to assist the poor , for H . R . H . was at all times delighted to be the medium to help those who suffer . He was pleased to be able to announce that the presentation to be made to the Prince and Princess of
Wales on the occasion of their silver wedding , vvould consist of a diamond butterfly , which had _ been purchased , and would be on view to the companions and brethren . It afforded him great pleasure to communicate this news to the companions , and he trusted H . R . H . and the Princess would be spared many years to appreciate the gift . "The Grand Officers" vvas nextgiven by the M . E . Z ., who
was then reluctantly compelled to vacate the chair owing to indisposition , Comp . Brooks , P . Z ., Treas ., said it was an unexpected pleasure that he had to propose " The Health of the occupant of the chair of M . E . Z ., Comp . Dodd , I . P . Z . " It vvould have been more in consonance for the I . P . Z . to have proposed this toast , but that companion could not ,
however , propose his own health . The companions all sincerely regretted that the M . E . Z ., Comp . Wells , had been obliged to leave them through ill-health , but hoped he would be with them at their next meeting thoroughly recovered . In the ordinary course of events Comp . Dodd filled the chair in his absence , and it vvas therefore with much pleasure that the toast would be received . The heartiness with
which the companions would drink Comp . Dodd ' s health , would testify to their admiration of the services he had rendered , and of the excellent working which had characterised his year of office . By the unanimous manner in which the members voted a P . Z . ' s jewel to Comp . Dodd , they had expressed their pleasure and satisfaction at his work , and they had also decided to place upon the ribbon a special bar indicating that those services were rendered
during the jubilee year . They hoped he would appreciate the small extra compliment , and heartily congratulated him upon a brilliant year in the chair of M . E . Z . They sincerely hoped he would be spared many years to assist them as a P . Z . and in his more special duties of S . E . Comp . W . Dodd , I . P . Z ., said he rose with the greatest pleasure to respond for the kind manner in which his health
had been drunk ; but he regretted that Comp . Wells , theic respected M . E . Z ., had been obliged . to leave them in obedience to his doctor's orders . The M . E . Z . wrote to him quite recently saying he would not be present owing to ill-health , and he ( Comp . Dodd ) expected to have had to render the exaltation ceremony ; but he was extremely pleased to see Comp . Wells with them , and surprised at the admirable
manner in which he had , notwithstanding his indisposition , performed the work . He had to thank the companions for the kindness he had received during his year of office . He could not but regret the small amount of work during that period , but he would be happy in the future to render every assistance in his power by filling any office in which he could be of service . He vvould again heartily thank them
and he could not say more than that if he made a long speech . " The Exaltees" vvas next given , and having been suitably responded to by Comps . Lansdown and Coombs , "The Visitors" was proposed by the acting M . E . Z ., Comp . Dodd . Comp . J . Pearson , P . Z . 1196 , in reply , said he had to
return thanks for the kind manner in which the toast had been proposed and received , and also for the very enjoyable evening he had spent . Comp . Blasby had frequently invited him , but circumstances had hitherto prevented his acceptance . He was therefore pleased to be present as the guest of Comp . Blasby , and he vvas convinced the companions had never known a more admirable and kind hearted companion than he whom they had been gratified
to see installed as J . _ That was his opinion of Comp . Blasby after a connection which had extended , not only in Masonry , but in the walk of life in which he followed . He had been a Mason for many years , but vvas seldom prevailed upon to visit a lodge or chapter . He vvas therefore highly gratified to be present , and at the manner in vvhich the work had been carried out , which was as near perfection as possible . Every officer appeared to thoroughly know his work , and to feel that vvhich everyone who entered

ROSE OF DENMARK CHAPTER ( No . 97 s ) . —The installation meeting of this prosperous chapter vvas held at the Star and Garter Hotel , Kew Bridge , on Saturday , the 3 rd inst . Present : Comps . Wm . S . ; Samuel Brooks , P . Z ., Treas . ; John Green , P . Z . ; J . Spilling , J . Brill , W . Hilton , H . C .
Lansdown , and C . Coombs . Visitors : Comps . J . P . Houghton , H . 3 S 2 ; G . B . Chapman , G . N . Watts , Z . 1196 ; J . Pearson , 1196 ; F . Eckstein , 1196 ; and W . W . Lee , 1524 .
