The brethren afterwards dined together at the Adelphi Restaurant , Strand , and the usual toasts were afterwards given . Bro . W . T . Farthing , P . M ., in proposing * ' The Health of the VV . M ., " said it afforded him a great amount of pleasure to do so , because he felt that Bro . C . S . Lee had done a very great deal for the good of that lodge and its
prosperity . The best thanks of every member were due to the VV . M ., who had left no stone unturned to promote the interests of the lodge , and its present state of prosperity was largely due to him . In retiring from the chair , Bro . Lee enjoyed the best wishes and hopes of the brethren for his future happiness . Bro . C . S . Lee , VV . M ., said the I . P . M . had made so
many kind remarks that it was a difficult task to respond . He thanked Bro . Farthing for his kindly expressions , and the brethren for their hearty reception of the toast . He should always look back upon his year in the chair as one of the happiest in his life . The work had been perhaps a little arduous , but his year had been a thoroughly happy one . Everyone seemed to have worked well together , and
as he remarked when installed in the chair by the Grand Secretary , they were a scratch crew , but could pull well together . It was suggested by the J . VV . that after a year's hard work he was entitled to have a quiet second year as W . M ., but having filled the position for 14 months he thought it was desirable the oflicers should have the opportunity of being raised a step . He had initiated
23 candidates , and during the existence of the lodge £ 550 had been paid into the funds . From the first they maintained they wanted quality , for then they would get the quantity , and this had been verified to a marvellous extent , and if they went on in the future as they had done in the past , they would have one of the best lodges in London . They had not only a goodly number , but they
had H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , M . W . G . M ., as one of their Honorary Members . He asked for his successor the same kindness and courtesy as he had found extended to him , and the same support from the officers and members . He thanked them from the . bottom of his heart for the kindness he had received from all , and could say that his successor would have one of the best lodges to preside
over . "The Initiates" hiving been honoured , The W . M . gave " The Health of the I . P . M ., " and said the lodge was deeply indebted to Bro . Farthing for his valuable help . Hro . Farthing was a distinguished Mason of 30 years' standing , and wis au authority on Freemasonry , and he ( the W . M . ) heartily acknowledged the
assistance and advice he had received . Bro . W . T . P ' aithing , I . P . M ., expressed the pleasure it had afforded him to occupy ithe position of acting I . P . M ., and assist the VV . M ., and , if anything he had done had in any way conduced to the harmony or prosperity of the lodge , he was amply repaid .
Bros . L . VV . Harvey , P . M . 9 ; VV . W . Lee , I . P . M . 23 S 1 ; and Wilkenden responded for " The Visitors , " after which Iiro . Murnane , Sec , replied for " The Treasurer and Secretary . " "The Ollieers" was given , and the Tyler ' s toast concluded an enjoyable and pleasant evening .
