Craft Masonry.

Bro . Albert Brown , 1024 , said he was glad to be present to see his brother , Fred . Br . wn , raised to the Third Degree , and he had six brothers who wire Masons . Masonry was ever doing a deal of good , and the members had voted that evening a substantial sum to a deserving case of distress . That was his lirst visit , and might he say that he hoped it would not be the last . Bro . VV . H . M ., gave "The Treasurer and Secretary . " He said thc Secretary , Bro . VV . D . Church , P . AL , was acting that evening as W . AL with all his well-known ability , and they were all glad to have the Treasurer , Bro . VV . Blackburn , P . AL , who had recovered from a very serious illness , with them again .

Bro . VV . Blackburn , P . M ., responded . He thanked Bro . D . Campbell , P . AL , for trc kind things he had said of him , and edded that he had been very il ) and did not think he would see anv ot them acjain . lie had thought of them all thc while ha was away ill and their kind sympathy hid helped him to recover . As Treasurer he had no hesitation in affirming that there was no better managed lodge in the kingdom and they had very little arrears owing . They had had a grand night and the only drawback was the unavridable a' -sencc—which they all deplored—ofthe VV . M . They could not have a better Master thnn Bro . Arthur . Church , and they were proud of him .

Bro . VV . D . Church , P . M ., Sec , also acknowledged the toast and said it was a pleasure so him to be sitting there with his old friend , Bro . Blackburn , which was a happy surprise to him . He agreed with him that the lodge was in a nourishing condition , and he thought with the new blood it would continue a great success . So long as he was the Secretary he would do his duty zealously but fearlessly , and in conclusion he thanked them in very feeling terms for the kind remarks which had been made about his son , the W . Becker , and Harry Green vocally entertained the brethren , but to the lastrip med , who received a well-dtsetved encore , special mention should be made for his efforts .

Corinthian Lodge , No . 1382 . At the meeting of this lodge held at the George Hotel , List Ferry-road , Cubitt Town , on Wednesday , the 17 th ult , Bro . Ed . vard Brindley was installed in the Mister ' s chair for the ensuing year . The lodge was opened bv the W . M ., Bro . B . Bircham , who was well-supported by his officers , also by Is -os . Milling-ton , P . M . ; Smith , P . M . ; Morrison , P . M . ; Raiker , P . M . ; Perry , P . M . ; Saunders , P . M . ; Bonner , P . M . ; Bassett , P . AL ; and a large company tf members . Other lodges were , as usual at

the Corinthian , well-represented by a goodly number of Past Alasters and brethren , amonest whom where Bros . J . Alorrison AIcLeod , P . G . S . B ., Sec . of the R . AI . I . B . ; W . Making , P . AI . 127 S ; and R . Salter , P . AI . 79 . The installation ceremony was performed by Bro . Alillington , P . AL , in his customary admirable and impressive manner , alter which the following officers were appointed hy the W . M . and invested ; Bros . 0 .

AL announced his intention of acting as Steward at the next Festival of the R . AI . I . B , and the lodce voted him a substantial sum for his list .

The Ldge was then closed and the brethren adjourned to the dining-room where an excellent banquet was provided . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured . In responding to a toast Bro . AIcLeod made a very powerful speech on behalf of the Charities , and in the course of his remarks spike highly of the bsnevolenc ; . of Eist-end lodges , amongst whom , he said , the Corinthi in stood well to the front . I le expressed

the satisfaction and pleasure it had given him to hear the W . M , who was already a Life Subscriber to the Boys' Institution , state that he intended acting as Steward , in fact he ( Bro . AIcLeod ) had come that evening for the express purpose of appealing to the lodge for a donation in aid of the fundsof that useful Institution which he had the honour to represent , but he found the lodge had been beforehand with him by libarally supporting the Stewardship of their W . M .

During ihe evening a capital selection of vocal and instrumental music was given under the direction of Bro . Barton .

Hemming Lodge , No . 1512 . The last meeting for the season of this lodge was held at the Greyhound Hotel , Hampton Court , en the 25 th ult . Among those present were Bros . VV . Hopkins , VV . The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . Bro . T . Sadler was raised to the Third Degree , and Bros . A . Barber and J . Croxon passed to the Second Degree . A resolution was passed that the Secretary should write to those brethren considerably in arrear and inform them that unless the dues were paid on or before the next meeting their names would be excluded from the list of members . Bros . G . J . Tagg , I . P . AL ; AMacchi ; and others sent apologies for non-attcndincc . The lodge was closed . An excellent banquet was then partaken of .

Bro . T . VV . Ockenden responded on behalf of "Ihe Provincial Grand Officers , " In the course of his eloquent spcecli he said that he had had the hornur of being a member of that distinguished body for many years . The province had increased greatly since then . Aliddlesex had been very fortunate in having had two such popular brethren at its head as the late Bro . Sir Francis Burdett , and the present Secretary of State for India , Bro . L'ird George Hamilton . Both these brethren hid been well supported hy the excellent Deputy P . G . AL , Bro . Riymond Thrupp , and the genial Secretary ,

Bro . Howard Room . ( Hear . ) In conclusion , he wished to say that it always afforded him pleasure to attend the meetings of thc lodge in which he first saw Masonic light in 1 S 74 . There weie but few living who siw him initiated , and only three brethren who were still members of the lodge . He was pleased to see two of the three present that night in the persons of Bros . jessett and Walls , to whom , in his early career , he owed much , and whose friendship he valued most highly . Herbert , P . M . ; J . " Young , P . M . ; H . Herbert , P . M . ; Dr . E . AL Lott , P . G . Org . Eng . ; and others .

Thc lodge hiving been closed , a banquet followed , and the toasts were but few . In proposing " The Health of the Master Elect , " the acting W . M . expressed a hope that Bro . Evans's year would , if possible , be more prosperous than those of his predecessors . Bro . Evans , in reply , thanked the brethren for the honour they had conferred upon him by electing him as their Alaster . As an initiate of the lodge , he had looked forward some day to occupy its principal chair . He hoped , with the assistance of the Past Alasters , to discharge the duties of the position with credit to himself and to the satisfaction of the lodge .

Bro . Thomas Simpson made a bright and happy response to the toast of " The Past Masters . " The brethren were agreeably entertained by thc instrumental and vocal harmony of Bros . Dr . Hinton , E . Schul'z , W . H . lackson , N . P . Lardner , 1 . Cook , and others .

Thornham Lodge , No . 2279 . . The Festival of St . John in connection with this lodge was celebrated on Wednesday , the 31 st ult ., when Bro . Albert Butterworth was installed as W . M . Among the visiting brethren were Bro . C . R . N . Beswicke-Royds , Deputy Prov . G . AL ; and the W . A 1 s . of the various neighbouring lodges .

The installation c ^ remany was performed by Bro . Hall , W . M ., assisted by Bro . Hollingsworth , P . P . G . T . E . L ., and the Past Alasters of the lodge . Bisley Lodge , No . 2317 . A meeting of this nourishing lodge was held at the Alasonic Hall , Woking , on Thursday , the ist inst . Present : Bros . Capt . J . Hoey , VV . M . ; J . H . Askham , P . The lirst installation meeting of the above lodge was held in Beale's handsome Masonic Rooms , Holloway , and was attended by a large and influential number of brethren , among those present being Bros . Letters of regret having been read by Bro . Macfarlane , Sec , from several friends unable to be present , the lodge was closed . The brethren adjourned to the banqueting hall , where an excellent repast was served . The LP . M . then proposed ,. in eulogistic ] terms , "The . Health of thc W . AL , " thc sentiment being received with enthusiasm .

The VV . AL , in thanking the brethren for the honour conferred upon him , promised to do all in his power for the prosperity of thc lodge . He was installed Alaster of the John Hervey Lodge , 12 C 0 , in 1 S 93 , and vacating the chair of that lodge he considered it io be his duty to further extend the grand principles of Freemasonry . Although the Holloway Lodge was only consecrated last year , he was proud to say that it had already become a complete success .

The next toast was "The Installing Master , " and in proposing this the W . M . referred to the valuable services Bro . Terry had rendered , not only to the Craft and Benevolent Institution , but to the 1 lolloway Lodge in particular . He pinned on Bro . Terry ' s breast the Past Alaster ' s jewel of the lodge , which had at the previous meeting been voted unanimously to him , and also handed to him a handsome present from thc brethren for Airs . Terry . Bro . James Terry , P . G . S . B ., Sec R . ALB . I ., thanked the brethren most heartily , and mentioned that he was a Past Alaster of 14 different lodges .

" The Initiates , " " The Visitors , " " The Treasurer and Secretary , " " The Officers , " and the Tyler's toast were then given . Bros . E . Jones and R . Pain Walkden replied for the officers . During the evening an efficient band played a choice selection of music . The musical arrangements were under the able direction of Bro . Arthur Briscoe , those assisting being Miss Edith Hands , Aliss Hutton , and several brethren . Thc Misses Maude Wedlake and Nelly Culver rendered an excellent mandoline duet , which was much appreciated .

AIcLeod made a very powerful speech on behalf of the Charities , and in the course of his remarks spike highly of the bsnevolenc ; . of Eist-end lodges , amongst whom , he said , the Corinthi in stood well to the front . the satisfaction and pleasure it had given him to hear the W . M , who was already a Life Subscriber to the Boys' Institution , state that he intended acting as Steward , in fact he ( Bro . AIcLeod ) had come that evening for the express purpose of appealing to the lodge for a donation in aid of the fundsof that useful Institution which he had the honour to represent , but he found the lodge had been beforehand with him by libarally supporting the Stewardship of their W . M .

A resolution was passed that the Secretary should write to those brethren considerably in arrear and inform them that unless the dues were paid on or before the next meeting their names would be excluded from the list of members . Bro . T . VV . Ockenden responded on behalf of "Ihe Provincial Grand Officers , " In the course of his eloquent spcecli he said that he had had the hornur of being a member of that distinguished body for many years . The province had increased greatly since then . Aliddlesex had been very fortunate in having had two such popular brethren at its head as the late Bro . Sir Francis Burdett , and the present Secretary of State for India , Bro . L'ird George Hamilton . Both these brethren hid been well supported hy the excellent Deputy P . G . AL , Bro . Riymond Thrupp , and the genial Secretary ,

Bro . Howard Room . ( Hear . ) In conclusion , he wished to say that it always afforded him pleasure to attend the meetings of thc lodge in which he first saw Masonic light in 1 S 74 . There weie but few living who siw him initiated , and only three brethren who were still members of the lodge . He was pleased to see two of the three present that night in the persons of Bros . jessett and Walls , to whom , in his early career , he owed much , and whose friendship he valued most highly . Thc lodge hiving been closed , a banquet followed , and the toasts were but few . In proposing " The Health of the Master Elect , " the acting W . M . expressed a hope that Bro . Evans's year would , if possible , be more prosperous than those of his predecessors . Bro . Evans , in reply , thanked the brethren for the honour they had conferred upon him by electing him as their Alaster . As an initiate of the lodge , he had looked forward some day to occupy its principal chair . He hoped , with the assistance of the Past Alasters , to discharge the duties of the position with credit to himself and to the satisfaction of the lodge .

AL , " thc sentiment being received with enthusiasm .

The VV . AL , in thanking the brethren for the honour conferred upon him , promised to do all in his power for the prosperity of thc lodge . He was installed Alaster of the John Hervey Lodge , 12 C 0 , in 1 S 93 , and vacating the chair of that lodge he considered it io be his duty to further extend the grand principles of Freemasonry . Although the Holloway Lodge was only consecrated last year , he was proud to say that it had already become a complete success .

The next toast was "The Installing Master , " and in proposing this the W . M . referred to the valuable services Bro . Terry had rendered , not only to the Craft and Benevolent Institution , but to the 1 lolloway Lodge in particular . He pinned on Bro . Terry ' s breast the Past Alaster ' s jewel of the lodge , which had at the previous meeting been voted unanimously to him , and also handed to him a handsome present from thc brethren for Airs . Terry . Bro . James Terry , P . G . S . B ., Sec R . ALB . I ., thanked the brethren most heartily , and mentioned that he was a Past Alaster of 14 different lodges .

" The Initiates , " " The Visitors , " " The Treasurer and Secretary , " " The Officers , " and the Tyler's toast were then given . Bros . E . Jones and R . Pain Walkden replied for the officers . During the evening an efficient band played a choice selection of music . The musical arrangements were under the able direction of Bro . Arthur Briscoe , those assisting being Miss Edith Hands , Aliss Hutton , and several brethren . Thc Misses Maude Wedlake and Nelly Culver rendered an excellent mandoline duet , which was much appreciated .
