TWICKENHAM . Era Lodge ( No . 1423 ) . —The installation meeting of this lodge was held at the Albany Hotel on the 12 th ult . The lodge having been opened , the minutes were read and confirmed . After the Auditors' report , showing a balance in favour of the lodge , had been adopted , Bro . C . Kingsley Milbourne was raised . Bro . A . E . Carter , the VV . M . elect ,

was presented to the Installing Master , Bro . J . Faulkner , P . M ., P . P . S . G . D ., to receive the benefit of installation , and , after the usual formalities , was inducted into the chair of K . S . as VV . M . of the lodge for the ensuing year . The W . LOUGHBOROUGH . Charnwood Chapter ( No . 1007 ) . —Tuesday , the 29 th ult ., will long be remembered as a red-letter day in the history of Freemasonry in Loughborough , as , in addition to the proceedings in connection with the above chapter , of which a brief record is here given , a meeting of the Craft lodge was also held for the purpose of raising

the Most Hon . the Marquess of Granby , M . P ., particulars of the last-named ceremony appearing elsewhere in these pages . An exceedingl y large gathering of Royal Arch Masons , including a considerable 'contingent from Leicester , who journeyed down by rail in a saloon carriage , provided by the courteous Midland station-master , Comp . Michie , assembling to do honour to the Principals elect , especially to the

popular First Principal designate , Comp . J . H . Marshall , to whose Masonic zeal and abilities the success of this chapter , as well as of other Masonic bodies with which he is connected in the province , is largely due . Previous to opening the chanter , the companions were entertained at an elegant luncheon , on the invitation of Comp . Marshall , after which the special business of the

day was proceeded with , and the Principals duly installed , Comp . Marshall being inducted into the chair of Z ., Comp . R . L . Gibson into that of H ., and Comp . Carl Lowenstein as J . These very interesting and impressive ceremonies were perfectly rendered by Comp . VV . Vial , P . Z ., P . P . G . S . N . The other officers were then invested as follows : Comps . Corcoran , S . The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of

the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The lodge was opened in the Second and Third Degrees , and resumed in the First Degree . The W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of investiture of officers . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Brown as candidate . The S . W ., Bro . Densham was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing week , and he appointed the officers in rotation . All Masonic business being ended , the lodge was closed .

The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of the former meeting were read and confirmed . The lodge was then opened in the Second Degree , and the Preceptor worked the ist Section of the Lecture . Bro . Matthews having offered himself as a candidate for raising , was

examined and entrusted . I he lodge was opened in the Third Degree , and the ceremony of raising rehearsed . The lodge was resumed to the First Degree , and the S . W . was unanimousl y elected W . M . for the ensuing week , and appointed his officers in rotation . All Masonic business being ended , the lodge was closed .

CLARENCE LODGE ( No . 263 ) . —The usual weekly meeting of this lodge was held on Thursday , the 24 th ult ., at Tupp's Restaurant , 8 , Tottenham Court-road , when there were present Bros . H . The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . The lodge was opened in the Second Degree . Bro . Mason having offered himself as a candidate for raising , was entrusted . The lodge was then opened in the Third Degree , when the

ceremony was very impressively rehearsed by the W . M . It was proposed and seconded that Bros . Pritchard , P . M ., Cook , P . M ., and Nugent become members of this lodge of instruction . A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Bro . Pritchard for his services .

A meeting was also held at the above address on Thursday , the ist inst ., when there were present Bros . Hastings , W . M . ; Taylor , S . W . ; Baker , J . W . ; W . H . Kirby , Preceptor ; Freemantle , Sec . ; Cubitt , S . D . ; Imlay , J . D . ; Mason , I . G . ; Corp , Corp , jun ., Home , and Stallabrass . The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of the previous meeting- were read and confirmed . Bro .

Stallabrass offered himself as a candidate , and the W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of initiation in an able and pleasing manner , Bro . Corp , jun ., delivering the charge . The brethren were then called off , and , on resuming duty , a ballot was taken for Bros . H . Pritchard , G . Cook , and H . Nugent , who were unanimously elected as joining members .

The VV . M . having risen for the first and second times , and a Master having been elected for the ensuing week , it was announced that the ceremony of passing would be rehearsed and an explanation of the tracing board given . The lodge was then closed , and a pleasant and instructive evening brought to a close .

Charnwood Chapter ( No . 1007 ) . —Tuesday , the 29 th ult ., will long be remembered as a red-letter day in the history of Freemasonry in Loughborough , as , in addition to the proceedings in connection with the above chapter , of which a brief record is here given , a meeting of the Craft lodge was also held for the purpose of raising

the Most Hon . the Marquess of Granby , M . P ., particulars of the last-named ceremony appearing elsewhere in these pages . An exceedingl y large gathering of Royal Arch Masons , including a considerable 'contingent from Leicester , who journeyed down by rail in a saloon carriage , provided by the courteous Midland station-master , Comp . Michie , assembling to do honour to the Principals elect , especially to the

popular First Principal designate , Comp . J . H . Marshall , to whose Masonic zeal and abilities the success of this chapter , as well as of other Masonic bodies with which he is connected in the province , is largely due . Previous to opening the chanter , the companions were entertained at an elegant luncheon , on the invitation of Comp . Marshall , after which the special business of the

day was proceeded with , and the Principals duly installed , Comp . Marshall being inducted into the chair of Z ., Comp . R . L . Gibson into that of H ., and Comp . Carl Lowenstein as J . These very interesting and impressive ceremonies were perfectly rendered by Comp . VV . Vial , P . Z ., P . P . G . S . N . The other officers were then invested as follows : Comps . Corcoran , S . ceremony was very impressively rehearsed by the W . M . It was proposed and seconded that Bros . Pritchard , P . M ., Cook , P . M ., and Nugent become members of this lodge of instruction . A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Bro . Pritchard for his services .

The brethren were then called off , and , on resuming duty , a ballot was taken for Bros . H . Pritchard , G . Cook , and H . Nugent , who were unanimously elected as joining members .

The VV . M . having risen for the first and second times , and a Master having been elected for the ensuing week , it was announced that the ceremony of passing would be rehearsed and an explanation of the tracing board given . The lodge was then closed , and a pleasant and instructive evening brought to a close .
