The roll of lodges and the roll of Present and Past Provincial Grand Officers having been called , the minutes of the meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge , holden at Huddersfield , on Wednesday , the 16 th October , 188 9 , were read and confirmed . The PROV . GRAND MASTER then delivered an address , which embraced all the topics of Masonic interest connected with the province as well as matters of importance in the Craft in general .

Bro . W . F . SMITHSON , P . M . 1211 , Chairman of the West Yorkshire Charity Committee , presented and read the annual report , and moved its adoption and confirmation .

This was seconded by Bro . T . BATEMAN Fox , Vice-Chairman , and carried unanimously . Bro . A . W . STANFIELD , P . P . G . R ., presented and read the report of the Sub-Committee appointed by Prov . Grand Lodge at Leeds , on Wednesday , the 10 th ult ., in relation to the Masonic Boys' School inquiry , and moved that it be received and adopted . This was seconded b y Bro . BINNEY , and carried unanimously .

Bro . J LEACH , P . M . 61 , Prov . Grand Treasurer , then presented a statement of the receipts and disbursements of the province for the year ending 31 st March , and pointed out that whilst the balance in favour of the province at the commencement of the year was ^ 993 13 s . 8 d ., it now amounted to ^ 1019 19 s . 4 d . Bro . Leach ' s balance-sheet was received most favourabl y , and , on the motion of Bro . CM . WILSON , Prov . G . Reg ., was unanimously accepted .

Bro . WM . WATSON , P . M . 206 9 , Prov . G . S . of W ., presented the inventory of the property and regalia of Prov . Grand Lodge , and reported its condition to be satisfactory . This , on the motion of the PROV . G . M ., was unanimously adopted .

Bro . WATSON then presented his report as Hon . Librarian of the province , accompanying which was a printed tabulated list of the donations , & c , to the Prov . Grand Lodge Library . He also moved that a grant of ^ 10 be made to the Library Fund . This was seconded by Bro . J . R . DORE , and carried item . con .

The PROV . GR \ ND MASTER then moved— " That this Prov . Grand Lodge accept the invitation of the Building Committee to place the Coat of Arms of this province , with an inscription , in one of the stained windows of the Centenary Hall of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , at a cost of £ 13 . " This was supported by Bro . F . R . W . HEDGES , Secretary of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , and carried unanimously .

The election of Prov . G . Treasurer then took place . Bro . J LEACH , the retiring Prov . G . Treasurer , briefly , but very pleasantly , proposed as his successor Bro . Thomas Harrison , P . M . 296 . This was seconded by Bro . HAROLD THOMAS , W . M . 296 , supported by Bro . GARRETT , P . M ., and carried unanimously . On being invested the new PROV . G . TREASURER returned thanks to the brethren for that mark of their confidence .

M . 2127 , thanked the brethren for their cordial greeting , and expressed his pleasure at being present at so large and influential a gathering of West Yorkshire Freemasons . Bro . Geo . Clay , W . M . 208 , the Mayor of Dewsbury , also returned thanks , as did Bro . Rev . F . V . Bussell , M . A . Deputy Prov . G . Master of Notts . The latter took the opportunity of advocating the cause of Bro . J . M . McLeod , P . M . 113 , as candidate for Secretary R . M . I . B ., in the room of Bro . Binckes , the present Secretary , who retires on 30 th June next .

The Dep . Prov . G . M ., Bro . H . SMITH , in kindly and sympathetic terms proposed the confirmation of the resolution passed at the Charity Committee meeting - at Wakefield , on Saturday , the 16 th ult ., that the balance in excess of 200 guineas raised by the West Yorkshire lodges for the Binckes Indemnity Fund be allotted as follows : —; £ io towards a printing-press for the boys' school ; ^ 10 towards a lathe for the carpenter ' s shop ; £$ towards the games fund ; and the rest to defray the expenses incurred in postage , printing , & c , whilst collecting the money . This was seconded by Bro . W . H . BRITTAIN , and carried unanimousl y .

Invitations were announced for the meetings of Provincial G . Lodge from No . 448 , Halifax , for the October meeting , and from Lodge 290 , Huddersfield , for April , 1891 . Prov . G . Lodge was then closed . Dinner was served in the Masonic Hall , Surrey-street , when 130 brethren sat down , the Prov . G . Master occupying the chair .

CONSECRATION OF THE WIGAN LODGE , No . 2326 .

During the past few years Masonry has made rapid progress in the town and district , and on Saturday , the 12 th ult ., the consecration of the Wigan Lodge , No . 2326 , took place in the Masonic Hall , King-street , Wigan . The Provincial Grand Master , Bro . the Earl of Lathom , was expected to perform the interesting ceremony , but owing to his absence with his daughter in Madeira , he deputed Bro . W . Goodacre , P . an excellent banquet was served . During its progress the Wigan Old Borough Reed Band p layed several selections of music . The usual toasts were honoured , those of the Worshipful Master and Mayor of Wigan being most heartily received . The proceedings were also further enlivened by the singing of the Cambrian Quartette Party from Liverpool . The petitioners have been waiting since September last to have the lodge consecrated , which , though not the Century Lodge , was the hundredth lodge consecrated in the province . The clothing and massive silver jewels were manufactured b y Bro . George Kenning , 2 , Monument-place , Liverpool .

The roll of lodges and the roll of Present and Past Provincial Grand Officers having been called , the minutes of the meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge , holden at Huddersfield , on Wednesday , the 16 th October , 188 9 , were read and confirmed . The PROV . GRAND MASTER then delivered an address , which embraced all the topics of Masonic interest connected with the province as well as matters of importance in the Craft in general .

Bro . W . F . SMITHSON , P . M . 1211 , Chairman of the West Yorkshire Charity Committee , presented and read the annual report , and moved its adoption and confirmation .

This was seconded by Bro . T . BATEMAN Fox , Vice-Chairman , and carried unanimously . Bro . A . W . STANFIELD , P . P . G . R ., presented and read the report of the Sub-Committee appointed by Prov . Grand Lodge at Leeds , on Wednesday , the 10 th ult ., in relation to the Masonic Boys' School inquiry , and moved that it be received and adopted . This was seconded b y Bro . BINNEY , and carried unanimously .

Bro . J LEACH , P . M . 61 , Prov . Grand Treasurer , then presented a statement of the receipts and disbursements of the province for the year ending 31 st March , and pointed out that whilst the balance in favour of the province at the commencement of the year was ^ 993 13 s . 8 d ., it now amounted to ^ 1019 19 s . 4 d . Bro . Leach ' s balance-sheet was received most favourabl y , and , on the motion of Bro . CM . WILSON , Prov . G . Reg ., was unanimously accepted .

Bro . WM . WATSON , P . M . 206 9 , Prov . G . S . of W ., presented the inventory of the property and regalia of Prov . Grand Lodge , and reported its condition to be satisfactory . This , on the motion of the PROV . G . M ., was unanimously adopted .

Bro . WATSON then presented his report as Hon . Librarian of the province , accompanying which was a printed tabulated list of the donations , & c , to the Prov . Grand Lodge Library . He also moved that a grant of ^ 10 be made to the Library Fund . This was seconded by Bro . J . R . DORE , and carried item . con .

The PROV . GR \ ND MASTER then moved— " That this Prov . Grand Lodge accept the invitation of the Building Committee to place the Coat of Arms of this province , with an inscription , in one of the stained windows of the Centenary Hall of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , at a cost of £ 13 . " This was supported by Bro . F . R . W . HEDGES , Secretary of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , and carried unanimously .

The election of Prov . G . Treasurer then took place . Bro . J LEACH , the retiring Prov . G . Treasurer , briefly , but very pleasantly , proposed as his successor Bro . Thomas Harrison , P . SMITH , in kindly and sympathetic terms proposed the confirmation of the resolution passed at the Charity Committee meeting - at Wakefield , on Saturday , the 16 th ult ., that the balance in excess of 200 guineas raised by the West Yorkshire lodges for the Binckes Indemnity Fund be allotted as follows : —; £ io towards a printing-press for the boys' school ; ^ 10 towards a lathe for the carpenter ' s shop ; £$ towards the games fund ; and the rest to defray the expenses incurred in postage , printing , & c , whilst collecting the money . This was seconded by Bro . W . H . BRITTAIN , and carried unanimousl y .

Invitations were announced for the meetings of Provincial G . Lodge from No . 448 , Halifax , for the October meeting , and from Lodge 290 , Huddersfield , for April , 1891 . Prov . G . During the past few years Masonry has made rapid progress in the town and district , and on Saturday , the 12 th ult ., the consecration of the Wigan Lodge , No . 2326 , took place in the Masonic Hall , King-street , Wigan . an excellent banquet was served . During its progress the Wigan Old Borough Reed Band p layed several selections of music . The usual toasts were honoured , those of the Worshipful Master and Mayor of Wigan being most heartily received . The proceedings were also further enlivened by the singing of the Cambrian Quartette Party from Liverpool . The petitioners have been waiting since September last to have the lodge consecrated , which , though not the Century Lodge , was the hundredth lodge consecrated in the province . The clothing and massive silver jewels were manufactured b y Bro . George Kenning , 2 , Monument-place , Liverpool .
