HAMPTON COURT . Villiers Lodge ( No . 1194 ) . —There was a good attendance of members and visitors of this lodge at the Mitre Hotel , on Saturday , the 3 rd inst ., when the installation meeting was held , and Bro . Richd . T . Pearce was duly

installed as the Worshipful Master , and was congratulated accordingly . Amongst the members were Bros . G . W . Thomas , VV . M . ; R . T . Pearce , S . W ., W . M . elect ; G . S . Peachey , J . Lodge was opened , the minutes conlirmed , and the audit report adopted , after which Bro . F . A . Rayner was raised to the Third Degree . Bro . G . W . Thomas then concluded a successful year's work by installing Bro . R . T . Pearce

into the chair in an admirable manner . The following officers were invested : Bros . G . S . Peachey , S . W . ; E . 1 . Mills , J . W . ; W . Vincent , P . P . G . S . B ., Treas . ; VV . Dodd , P . P . G . D ., Sec ; H . J . Pellatt , S . D . ; C . Dodd , J . D . ; W . Vickery , P . G . S . B . Dorset , l . G . ; G . F . Collinson , D . C ; L . A . Francis , Stwd . ; and J . impressively initiating Mr . Arthur Davis into Freemasonry . A handsume Past Master ' s jewel and collar were presented to Bro . Thomas , I . P . M ., in recognition of the ability with which he had discharged his duties during the past year , and was suitably acknowledged . The I . P . M . was appointed Steward to represent the lodge at the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution Festival , and the sum of live guineas was voted to his list .

Lodge was closed , and a well-served banquet was followed by the customary toasts . Bro . Raymond H . Thrupp , Deputy Prov . G . M ., replying for " The Grand Officers and Prov . Grand Officers , " said the Grand Officers were a body of men who won their spurs by hard work , who had the interests of all the brethren at heart , and who did all they could to promote the Craft to

which they were proud to belong . He need say nothing about their grand old man , Bro . Sir . F . Burdett , the Prov . G . M ., who was 7 6 years of age and able to shoot and ride to hounds and be in the first field . As far as Masonry was concerned it was only last year that Sir Francis Burdett initiated his own son in the room in which they then sat .

This lodge numbered several Prov . Grand Officers who had in their time done a great deal for the lodge and the province and the Prov . Grand Master had conferred the purple upon them , not only for their own merits , but for the lodge . They must not rely entirely upon the Master for the working , for although the Master might be a good worker , the rest

lay with the officers , who should assist him and make the work go smoothly . He congratulated them on the Master installed that evening , who was evidently the right man in the right place , with the working at his fingers' ends and the interest of the lodge at heart . The lodge had always had the reputation for being one of the best working lodges in the province , and if the officers supported the W . M . they

would ensure him a happy year of office . The lodge had more Past Master's than any other lodge in the province , which meant that there was a spirit of harmony and good fellowship existing to a large extent . He hoped that spirit would continue and be a characteristic of the Villiers Lodge for many years to come . Bro . G . I . Thomas , I . P . M ., in giving "The Worshipful

Master , " said it was the pleasantest duty the I . P . M . had to perform during the evening , especially when he was confident he was proposing the health of one who would do his duty to the lodge and himself . From the manner in which Bro . Pearce had commenced his duties , they could feel sure the future of the lodge during the ensuing year would be one of continued success . They would all wish their W . M .

health and strength to go through his year of office , for he was enthusiastic to a Degree in Masonry , and having put his hand to the gavel would endeavour to elevate the office to the position the members wished it to occupy . Bro . R . T . Pearce , W . M ., said he rose to thank them for the manner in which the toast had been proposed and received . At the same time he remembered that that toast

had always been received in a similar manner in that lodge during the 11 years he had been a member . He was following a very good Master , and it was only after a considerable amount of hesitation that he decided to occupy the chair if the office were offered him . With the support of the Past Masters and the help of the other officers , he hoped to be able to hand down the lodge in the same excellent

position as when he assumed the chair . It was true he had been a member for 11 years , and during that period perfect harmony had reigned , and if the slightest suspicion of discord had arisen , he felt sure the member causing it would have been , to use his own expression , " tomahawked . " He thanked them cordially for the manner in which his health had been proposed and received , and hoped his year

would be quite as pleasant as the members had wished it to be . "The Initiate" was next given , and appropriately acknowledged . Bro . G . J . Thomas , I . P . M ., responding for "The Installing Master and Past Masters , " said that with regard to himself he had done his work to the best of his ability , and

the verdict rested with the members . With regard to the Past Masters , they were always ready to exert themselves for the benefit of the lodge . Bro . H . W . Schartau , P . P . G . Org ., and others having returned thanks for "The Visitors , " "The Treasurer and Secretary " was given in cordial terms by the W . M . Bro . W . Vincent , P . P . G . S . B ., expressed the pleasure it

afforded him to see the present VV . M . in the chair , as he initiated him in that lodge , and did not regret the step he then took . Bro . W . Dodd , P . M ., P . P . G . D ., Sec , returned thanks , and said he had the interest of the lodge at heart , and was at all times anxious to promote its success .

The I . P . M . replied for "The Masonic Charities , " and Bro . Peachey , S . W ., acted in a similar capacity on behalf of " The Officers . " The Tyler's toast closed a successful meeting - , the pleasure of which was greatly enhanced by songs by Bro . H . W . Schartau and others .

Lodge was opened , the minutes conlirmed , and the audit report adopted , after which Bro . F . A . Rayner was raised to the Third Degree . Bro . G . W . Thomas then concluded a successful year's work by installing Bro . R . T . Pearce

into the chair in an admirable manner . The following officers were invested : Bros . G . S . Peachey , S . W . ; E . 1 . Mills , J . W . ; W . Vincent , P . P . G . S . B ., Treas . ; VV . Dodd , P . P . G . D ., Sec ; H . J . Pellatt , S . D . ; C . Dodd , J . D . ; W . Vickery , P . G . S . B . Dorset , l . G . ; G . F . Collinson , D . C ; L . A . Francis , Stwd . ; and J . Gilbert , Tyler . The newlyinstalled W . M . then proved his capacity for the post by

impressively initiating Mr .
