It is with deep regret we hear of the death of Bro . Philip D . Rees , of the William Preston and
Anglo-American Lodges , and also a founder of the Anglo-American Conclave ( Order of the Secret Monitor ) , No . 6 . He died on the 31 st ult ., after a very short illness . The brethren of the Anglo-American Lodge will miss his pleasant face and cheerful company very much . He had been a great traveller , and was a most amusing and interesting
companion . The World says " Bro , V . P . Freeman has for many years been a leading spirit amongst the Freemasons cf Sussex . His admirable arrangements for the installation of the Duke of Connaught led to his promotion to Grand
Office , and his friends will be glad to hear that his daughter is likely to win fame as a singer . Her performance at the Mayor ' s banquet , and as the "Carmen " of the Brighton and Hove Operatic Society , have been attended with considerable success . "
The remains of Bro . W . R . Hardcastle , postmaster of the Skipton district , were interred in Waltonwray's Cemetery on Sunday , 28 th ult . As the deceased brother was a member of the Craven Lodge , No . 810 , a late churchwarden of Skipton Christ Church , and a member
of other societies in the town , there was a very large public funeral . A large number of tradesmen headed the procession to the cemetery , these being followed by the brethren , among whom were Bros . Major Robinson , George Kendall , and Bro . J . R . Wilkinson , the three oldest members .
Bro . G . S . Graham announces his 24 th annual concert for Monday next , at the Parochial Hall , Oldridgeroad , Balham . The programme shows no falling off from the previous standard of merit , and that is saying a good deal . We notice amongst the artistes some familiar names and some that are new , but we know enough of Bro . Graham ' s ability and experience to be sure that an
evening's entertainment will be provided that will repay a visit to Balham on Monday .
