D . of C , the Board of Installed Masters

numbering 29 . At the close of the ceremony , Bro . Sec , and the Prov . G . D . of C . —for having so effectively , as well as so efficiently , performed the ceremony of installation . He then presented to the lodge a very handsome new

silllodge banner , on which the name and emblems of the Vale of Catmos Lodge and the name of the donor vvere beautifully embroidered in silk , and vvhich , it is needless to say , was received by the members vvith the usual form of approval . The W . M . then invested the officers for the ensuing year as follows : Bros . W . H . Goodwin , I . P . M . ; C . R . Morris , S . W . ; J . L . Hassan , J . W . ; the Rev . C

The regular business having been gone through , the lodge vvas then closed , the biethren having in the interval before the banquet an opportunity of visiting the Castle , with all its associations and numerous relics , as well as the curious and interesting

collection of horse shoes presented from time to time by membeis of the peerage . The banquet took place at the George Hotel , where nearly all the brethren vvho had attended the installation , as well as a number of others who arrived later , numbering altogether sixty-six , assembled at five o ' clock , under the presidency of Bro . Coltman , W . M ,, vvho was supported

by a distinguished array of P . G . Officers and P . M . ' s . A magnificent spread was provided by Bro . J . Read , the worthy host of the hotel , the only drawback being that a very great many more brethren turned up than vvere expected , not having signified their intention of being present , and the room vvas consequently rather inconvenientl y crowded , though Bro . Read did all it vvas possible to do under

such circumstances to make all happy and comfortable . At the close of the repast the VV . M . proposed the usual toasts , which were drunk vvith hearty enthusiasm , " The Health of her Majesty the Queen" being followed by "The National Anthem , " and that of "The M . W . G . M . and Grand Officers , " by "God bless the Prince of VVales , " the solos in both being finely given by Bro . T . B . Laxton .

The latter toast vvas appropriately acknowledged by Bro . George Toller , P . M ., P . D . P . G . M , P . S . G . W . Eng . The W . M . next gave "The Health of the Rt . G . D . C . Eng ., which was received vvith much approbation .

Bro . S . S . Partridge said he had great pleasure in responding to the toast on lehalf of the P . G . M ., the Right Hon . the Earl Ferrers , whom he represented on that occasion . It was a very great pleasure to be there to witness their old and well respected Bro . Coltman installed in the chair of that Craft lodge . He vvas sure Bro . Coltman vvould worthily fill the position to which he had that day been

exalted , and it was a great advantage to the Vale of Catmos Lodge to have such an excellent brother in the chair . The very large attendance of the brethren there that day fully testified to the gteat respect in which Bro . Coltman vvas held , and he was sure they vvould all heartily join in wishing him a very pleasant and prosperous year of office .

Bro . the Rev . C . H . Wood , M . A ., P . M ., P . P . S . G . W ., Prov . G . Sec , and Bro . Miles J . Walker , P . M ., P . P . J . G . W ., Prov . G . D . C , also replied . Bro . VV . H . Goodwin , I . P . M ., in a highly complimentary manner gave the toast of " The Valeof Catmos Lodgeand the Worshipful Master , " which vvas drunk vvith much enthusiasm .

Bro . J . M . Bentley , Mus . Doc , here most appropriately and effectively sang the following new Masonic song , written by Bro . R . R . Bealey , and set to . music by Dr . Bentley , vvho vvas his own accompanist : —

HERE'S TO HIS HEALTH IN A SONG . " The world is so hard and so stony , That if a man is to get through , He need have the courage of Nelson , And plenty of Job's patience too .

But a man vvho is kind to another , And cheerfully helps him along , God bless such a man and a Brother , And here ' s to his health in a song . And here ' s to his health , here ' s to his health . And here ' s to his health in a song .

This life is as cheerless as Winter To those who are cold in the heart , But the-man who is warm in his nature Bids Winter for ever depart .

D . of C , the Board of Installed Masters

numbering 29 . At the close of the ceremony , Bro . Sec , and the Prov . G . D . of C . —for having so effectively , as well as so efficiently , performed the ceremony of installation . He then presented to the lodge a very handsome new

The W . M . then invested the officers for the ensuing year as follows : Bros . W . H . Goodwin , I . P . M . ; C . R . Morris , S . W . ; J . L . Hassan , J . W . ; the Rev . C

T . B . Laxton .
