The P . G . TREASURER ( Comp . A . Kirk , 422 ) read the statement of accounts , vvhich showed a balance in favour of the chapter of £ 28 4 s . iod . On the proposition of Comp . VICKERS , seconded by Comp . WHEELDON , it vvas resolved lhat the Treasurer , Comp . A . Kirk , be re-elected to that office . Comps . Housham and Liversidge vvere appointed Auditors .

Last year the sum of . £ 6 6 s . od . vvas voted to the Sutcliffe Memorial Fund ; Comp . H . CLARK desired a sum to be granted to make the amount up to £ 21 . Comp . SISSONS proposed , and Comp . WILKINSON seconded , that the sum of ^ 12 125 . od . be granted , making vvith the previous sum . £ 18 18 s . od ., thus securing three votes for the chapter . This was carried . The GRAND SUPT . explained that he had called P . G . Chapter in

obedience to the Book of Constitutions , and now meetings would be held annually , and he proposed in future appointing Second and Third Principals from those companions who had occupied other offices in P . PROVINCIAL GRAND CHAPTER OF OXFORDSHIRE .

The annual meeting of this Provincial Grand Chapter was held , at the special request of the Apollo University Chapter , at the University Masonic Hall , Oxlord , on Wednesday , the 30 th ult . The Grand Superintendent , Comp . the Rev . H . Adair Pickard , P . G . P . S ., presided , supported by

The GRAND SUPERINTENDENT thanked the M . E . Z ., Comp , Baynes , and the other members of the Apollo University Chapter for their cordial reception of the Prov . Grand Chapter that day . The roll of the province having been called and responded to by members of all the chapters , and the usual routine business completed ,

The GRAND SUPERINTENDENT congratulated the companions on the fact that there had been only one loss ( Comp . Fraser ) through death during the past year ; and next alluded in eulogistic terms to the zeal displayed by the Freemasons of Banbury in founding the Cherwell Chapter , which gave

promise of an excellent future . Comp . WAKEMAN , P . G . H ., read his report on the chapters in the province , from vvhich it appeared that Royal Arch Masonry in Oxfordshire continued to flourish , the Alfred Chapter , 340 , being the largest chapter in point of numbers .

The Prov . G . Treasurer ' s report showed that the financial condition of the province vvas very satisfactory , and the sum of £ 10 ios . was voted to the Girls' Centenary Festival , Comp . Rev . J . A . LLOYD expressing his willingness to act as Steward on the occasion .

Comp . BRUTON , P . P . G . H ., proposed , and Comp . WAKEMAN , P . G . H ., seconded , the re-election of Comp . Emberlin as Treasurer . This was carried unanimously , and Comp . EMBERLIN briefly returned thanks for the further confidence reposed in him . The GRAND SUPERINTENDENT then declared all Provincial offices vacant

Provincial Grand Chapter being closed , the companions adjourned to a banquet , prepared at the Masonic Hall , Alfred-street . A most enjoyable evening vvas spent , the only regret being that the Banbury companions had to leave at an early hour . The Grand Superindent presided with his accustomed ability , and the

toasts were given wilh much spirit , * 'The Grand Chapter" being responded to by Comp . Wigram , P . G . Soj ., and " The Visitors " by Comp . Lord Jersey , Prov . Grand Master of Oxfordshire , and Comp . T . Eley , P . Z . of the Alfred Chapter , who , in consequence of promotion to the office of Sub-Inspector of Schools , is leaving the province for Yorkshire , to the great regret of his numerous friends and brethren in Freemasonry .

The proceedings commenced vvith the roll of lodges being called over , followed by that of the Provincial Grand Officers . The minutes of the last annual meeting at Blackpool vvere taken as read and confirmed . The PROV . G . TREASURER read a statement of his accounts for the past

year , which showed the receipts to have been £ 67 16 s . 3 d ., and , added to the balance in hand at the commencement of the year , amounted to ^ 77 is . id . ; expenditure , £ s 3 4 s . 9 d . ; and balance in bank £ 14 6 s . 4 d . ; total , £ 77 is . id . The PROV . G . SECRETARY in his annual report said there were at present 710 subscribing members in the province , against 698 last year .

Bro . WILLIAM NICHOLL , Past Grand Deacon of England , proposed as an amendment lhat the sum proposed to be voted be given to the Mark Benevolent Fund .

The amendment vvas carried by a large majority . Invitations to hold the next Provincial Grand Lodge meeiing were received from Liverpool , Southport , and Barrow . The Provincial Grand Lodge vvas then closed . The brethren subsequently sat down to a banquet presided over by Bro .

the Right Hon . the Earl of Lathom , who was supported by Bro . Le Gendre N . Starkie and 40 other brethren . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured alter the banquet . Bro . Col . LE GENDRE N . STARKIE , V . W . Deputy P . G . M . M ., proposed the " Health of Bro . the Earl of Lathom" in lelicitous terms .

After acknowledging the compliment Bro . the Earl of L ATHOM proposed "The Health of Bro . Col . Le Gendre N . Starkie , " which was duly responded to .

PROVINCIAL GRAND CHAPTER OF OXFORDSHIRE .

The annual meeting of this Provincial Grand Chapter was held , at the special request of the Apollo University Chapter , at the University Masonic Hall , Oxlord , on Wednesday , the 30 th ult . The Grand Superintendent , Comp . the Rev . H . Adair Pickard , P . G . P . S ., presided , supported by

The GRAND SUPERINTENDENT thanked the M . E . Z ., Comp , Baynes , and the other members of the Apollo University Chapter for their cordial reception of the Prov . Grand Chapter that day . The roll of the province having been called and responded to by members of all the chapters , and the usual routine business completed ,

The GRAND SUPERINTENDENT congratulated the companions on the fact that there had been only one loss ( Comp . Fraser ) through death during the past year ; and next alluded in eulogistic terms to the zeal displayed by the Freemasons of Banbury in founding the Cherwell Chapter , which gave

promise of an excellent future . Comp . WAKEMAN , P . G . H ., read his report on the chapters in the province , from vvhich it appeared that Royal Arch Masonry in Oxfordshire continued to flourish , the Alfred Chapter , 340 , being the largest chapter in point of numbers .

The Prov . G . Treasurer ' s report showed that the financial condition of the province vvas very satisfactory , and the sum of £ 10 ios . was voted to the Girls' Centenary Festival , Comp . Rev . J . A . LLOYD expressing his willingness to act as Steward on the occasion .

Comp . BRUTON , P . P . G . H ., proposed , and Comp . WAKEMAN , P . G . H ., seconded , the re-election of Comp . Emberlin as Treasurer . This was carried unanimously , and Comp . EMBERLIN briefly returned thanks for the further confidence reposed in him . The GRAND SUPERINTENDENT then declared all Provincial offices vacant

Provincial Grand Chapter being closed , the companions adjourned to a banquet , prepared at the Masonic Hall , Alfred-street . A most enjoyable evening vvas spent , the only regret being that the Banbury companions had to leave at an early hour . The Grand Superindent presided with his accustomed ability , and the

toasts were given wilh much spirit , * 'The Grand Chapter" being responded to by Comp . Wigram , P . G . Soj ., and " The Visitors " by Comp . Lord Jersey , Prov . Grand Master of Oxfordshire , and Comp . T . Eley , P . Z . of the Alfred Chapter , who , in consequence of promotion to the office of Sub-Inspector of Schools , is leaving the province for Yorkshire , to the great regret of his numerous friends and brethren in Freemasonry .

The proceedings commenced vvith the roll of lodges being called over , followed by that of the Provincial Grand Officers . The minutes of the last annual meeting at Blackpool vvere taken as read and confirmed . The PROV . G . TREASURER read a statement of his accounts for the past

year , which showed the receipts to have been £ 67 16 s . 3 d ., and , added to the balance in hand at the commencement of the year , amounted to ^ 77 is . id . ; expenditure , £ s 3 4 s . 9 d . ; and balance in bank £ 14 6 s . 4 d . ; total , £ 77 is . id . The PROV . G . SECRETARY in his annual report said there were at present 710 subscribing members in the province , against 698 last year .

Bro . WILLIAM NICHOLL , Past Grand Deacon of England , proposed as an amendment lhat the sum proposed to be voted be given to the Mark Benevolent Fund .

The amendment vvas carried by a large majority . Invitations to hold the next Provincial Grand Lodge meeiing were received from Liverpool , Southport , and Barrow . The Provincial Grand Lodge vvas then closed . The brethren subsequently sat down to a banquet presided over by Bro .

the Right Hon . the Earl of Lathom , who was supported by Bro . Le Gendre N . Starkie and 40 other brethren . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured alter the banquet . Bro . Col . LE GENDRE N . STARKIE , V . W . Deputy P . G . M . M ., proposed the " Health of Bro . the Earl of Lathom" in lelicitous terms .

After acknowledging the compliment Bro . the Earl of L ATHOM proposed "The Health of Bro . Col . Le Gendre N . Starkie , " which was duly responded to .
