that pertained to the office—that of proposing the health of the W . AT . or Principals of the lodge or chapter they consecrated . They all knew how well Comp . Shurmur had worked and with what excellent results . He svould not say that evening vvas the crowning proof , but Comp . Shurmur would have a very difficult task to pick an occasion on vvhich all vvere more anxious
to do him honour than the present . He believed that the petitioners who had elected him as their head , and the companions vvho had ranged themselves under Comp . Shurmur as their First Principal , had not risked very much . They knew that the chapter was bound to go under such efficient management . He had much pleasure in proposing " The Principals . "
Comp . AVM . SHURMUR , AI . E . Z ., in response , said the Principals vvere extremely grateful for the very cordial reception given the toast proposed in such eloquent and complimentary terms by their worthy chief . It vvould ever be their constant aim to make this chapter worthy of the province and svorthy of the Grand Superintendent . They ss'ere delighted that 20 guineas
had been generously voted to the Boys' School , but this reminded him that there vvas a drop of bitterness in the cup , for one of their founders had died and left a large family . He hoped the Provincial Charity Committee svould take the matter up , but if not they vvould see it did not go far short . Comps . GRAA ' ELEY , H ., and DRING , J ., also responded .
" The Visitors" and " The Officers" vvere given , after vvhich the Janitor ' s toast closed a successful and p leasant meeting . The Celia Quartet contributed several excellent musical selections during the evening . Apologies-for non-attendance vvere received from Comps . Lord Euston ,
