Bros . E . Hulton , P . J . G . W ., - Wm . Nicholl , P . G . 1 reas . ; and Jas . McLaren , P . P . J . G . W ., responded . Bro . R . R . Lisenden heie recited " Kissing cups race . " Bro . Carl Goetz , P . M ., P . P . J . G . W ., proposed what he considered to be the toast ot the evening , viz ., "The Health of the Worshipful Master , Bro . R . R . Lange , " and in doing so remarked that those
installation meetings ot the lodge came like Cnrisimas and new years day , but once ayear , and vvere always very enjoyable . Unfortunately for him ( Bro . Gostz ) circumstances had arisen on several of these anniversaries vvhicn prevented him from being present , and he had felt this enforced absence very keenly , but this year , owing to the W . M . being an old and intimate friend he had resolved to make
a point of being present , and seeing him installed in preference to making his Russian journey . Bro . Goetz continuing , said they all naturally rejoiced to see so worthy a Mason as Bro . Lange occupying the proud position of W . M . after seven years good service in the lodge , atthe same time they did not rejoice to see Bro . Crowtner leave the chair just when they had all learned to love him , and
were so thoroughly satisfied with the manner he had pecformed his duties . In Bro . Lange they possessed a W . M . vvho had taken a great interest in the lodge ever since he joined it , and he ( Bro . Goetz ) felt perfectly satisfied he vvould continue to do so . He had not been puzzled over thc hieroglyphics of Freemasonry , had performed the various duties allotted him in a creditable manner , and
grasped the true spirit of Masonry , Charity and benevolence . In wishing him a happy and prosperous year of office Bro . Goetz asked the brethren to heartily drink his health . The invitation vvas promptly responded to , and Bro . Cuthbert Blacon sang " Here ' s to his health . " The Worshipful Master , in reply , expressed his thanks
to Bro . GQetz for such kind expressions of feeling , and also to the brethren for the hearty way they had received the toast . VVhen initiated into the lodge seven years ago , he had no idea of becoming the W . M ., and could scarcely conceive it possible he vvas in that position at the present moment . It vvas a pleasure to hun to see amongst the numerous company those whom he considered his
godfathers in Masonry , viz ., Bros . Goetz , Meddleton , and Williams , and who had respectively initiated , passed , and raised him , and although he scarcely hoped to equal their achievements vvhen governing the lodge , he would , at any rate , try to equal them in earnestness and goodness . They vvould not find him perfect in his duties , at the same time , he assured them all his spare time should be devoted to the
welfare of the ludge . Bro . Major Ashton—as the oldest member of the lodgeproposed " The Time-honoured Memory of Humphrey Chetham , " vvhich vvas heartily drunk , and Bro . A . Lewtas sang " The old brigade . " Bro . A . Middleton , P . M ., proposed , in his happiest vein , proposed " The Health of the I . P . M ., Bro . Jonathan Crowther , " and , in a pointed and humorous speech , spoke
of the pleasure it gave him to propose the toast , having had the p leasure vvhen S . W . of proposing Bro . Crowther for initiaiion , and seeing him installed 12 months ago VV . M . of the lodge . As the brethren were aware , Bro . Crowther did not reside now in Manchester , and must have experienced duiing his year of office a deal of inconvenience in coming from Macclesfield to perform his duties of VV . M . They missed his genial face in Manchester , as all vvho knew him must feel that Manchester ' s loss would be Macclesfield ' s
gain . ln conclusion , Bro . Meddleton said that wherever their I . P . M . might be he vvould do his utmost to beautify and adorn the Order , and prove himself a worthy scioh of a worthy lodge . The toast vvas received and drank with enthusiasm , and Bro . Crowther responded . Bro . J . H . Sillitoe , P . G . Swd . Br ., P . P . J . G . W ., in
response to the toast of " The Installing Masters , " said it had given him extreme pleasure to take pact in the installation ceremony , from the fact of the most perfect worker in England being present , viz ., Bro . James Terry . This fact had determined him to endeavour to perform the ceremony as accurately as possible , and from the remarKs that had been passed , he believed and trusted he had given satisfaction .
Before sitting down , Bro . Sillitoe proposed "The Masonic Chanties , " and spoke at some length of the valuable work that had been done by the three Institutions , particularly by the R . M . Benevolent Institution . He paid a high compliment to Bro . James Terry , the indefatigaole Secretary of that noble Institution , and quoted several instances of brethren being relieved by it , who vvere once
in affluence . Bro . Sillitoe concluded by asking the brethren to drink to the toast , and coupled vvith it the name of Bro . James Terry . In responding to the toast , Bro . Terry made one of his forcible and brilliant speeches which so strongly appeal to the charity of every true Mason . He gave a resume of the progress of the R . M . B . Institution since its foundation to the present time , also an account of the income and
expenditure for rehet . Ihe actual cases that could be relieved , he said , vvere only about one-sixth of those required , and hence arose the necessity for increased donations and subscriptions . Bro . ' Terry expressed himself most grateful for ihe noble response on behalf of the Institution he represented that was given by the brethren last year , at the same time he hoped they would not lose sight of the fact that there was an ever increasing demand upon
their Charity by indigent brethren and widows . Bro . Terry ' s speech was listened to with great attention and much applauded . Other toasts , including "The Visitors , " "The newlyinvested Officers , " and others , were proposed and responded to , and a very enjoyable evening was spent . During the evening the brethren vvere entertained vvith two fine performances on the piano from Bro . Max Blume ( pianist to the King of Saxony ) .

Bros .
Max Blume ( pianist to the King of Saxony ) .
evening between them , Bro . Yates performing the ceremony of raising Bro . Rev . VV . S . Pratt , and Bro . Goidstone that of raising iiro . R . G . Anderson . 1 he working tools and charge vvere impressively given by Bro . Yates , P . M ., whose efforts are always welcomed and acknowledged by the brethren . The W . M ., having resumed
