the Supreme Grand Committee , with the exception of the Grand Scribe N . and Grand Chancellor . In the former there was a contest ; Comp . E . Macbean was nominated by the Supreme Grand Committee for the office of G . Scribe N ., and Comp . J . McNaught Campbell as Grand Chancellor , but in open chapter Comp . J . McNaught Campbell was nominated in oppcsition

to Comp . Macbean . The vote being taken , the numbers were 28 for Comp . Macbean and 44 for Comp . Campbell ; the latter , consequently , was declared elected . The Grand Chancellorship was then filled up by the unopposed nomination of Comp . Col . J . Campbell . The appointment of Comp . j . Dalrymple Duncan , 32 , as Depute Grand Z . was a very popular one .

Although for many years past the Depute Z . was a resident of Edinburgh , the departure in this case , though unusual , was more than compensated by the distinguished ability of Comp . Duncan , who is resident at Meiklewood , Stirlingshire . It has always been considered imperative that the Depute should be resident in Edinburgh to counsel

the Grand | Scribe E . in the absence of the First Grand Principal . Probably few men in Scotch Alasonry have attained the eminence of Comp . Duncan , who is still in the teens of his Alasonic career , having filbd every important post from Craft to the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Right , inclusive of the Province of Glasgow . Indeed , to enumerate the various offices which he has ,

and at present fills , would occupy too large a space . With such an excellent Depute , the Supreme Grand Chapter may look forward to every act and law being zealously guarded lrom any violation of iis sacred rights . The installation of the Grand Office Bearers and Festival of the Vernal Equinox will be celebrated on the 20 th inst .

DUBLIN . Dublin Lodge ( No . 25 ) . —On Tuesday , the 21 st ult ., the monthly communication was held at Freemasons' Hall . After labour , the members and their guests , to the number of over 100 , including many Grand Officers and representatives from foreign Grand Lodges , adjourned to a splendid banquet in the dining hall . In the course of the ivening , an interesting ceremony took place in the

shape of the presentation of a very handsome silver salver and combination breakfast dish to Bro . Andrew Thompson . P . M ., as a token of the lodge ' s grateful _ appreciation of his unwearied exertions as Secretary of their stall during the memorable Masonic bazaar of last May . The salver bore the following inscription : " Presented by Masonic Lodge No . XXV ., Dublin , to Brother Andrew Thompson , P . AL , as a slight recognition of his valuable

services as Hon . Secy , of their stall at the bazaar of the Centenary of the Masonic Female Orphan School , 1892 . " The presentation was made bv Brn . Sir Charles Cameron , P . M ., 32 , representative from the Grand Lodge of Alexico , and Secretary of the lodge , in a few well-chosen words , descriptive of Bro . Thompson ' s labours in the cause of Alasonic Charity , concluded by saying , with his own quaint humour , that , whereas it was considered a wonderful feat on

the part of Sir Boyle Roche ' s birds to be in two places at the same time , Bro . Thompson had broken their record , for he was i * imply everywhere at the same time . Bro . Thompson , who was received with prolonged and hearty cheering , then returned thanks in very feeling terms , and , in giving the brethren an account of his Stewardship ( which had resulted in handing over to the Masonic Female Orphan School Fund a sum of about £ 830 ) , mentioned that the last two years had not been for

him years of unimpaired pleasure , owing to the enormous amount of woik entailed upon him by the onerous duties he undertook , but the result amply repaid what was , after all , but a labour of love . He then paid a well-deserved tribute of praise to the hearty and untiring aid given by the ladies of that stall . They had , he said , all worked together hand and heart , and the most serious friction he had known amongst them was in relation to the number of inches of collar which might be supposed to be most becoming to the fair Craftswornen .

Bro . the Rev . Benjamin Gibson , G . Chap ., took the opportunity of reminding brethren who had not yet subscribed to the All Ireland Masonic Presentation to Lord Justice Fitzgibbon , the mainspring of the Centenary Bazaar , that that would be about the last chance they would have of doing so , and that their neglecting that occasion would deprive them of the pleasure of seeing their names on the roll of subscribers to the testimonial to that brightest and

most enthusiastic of Masonic workers in Ireland . A large number of subscriptions were then handed in to Bro . Gibson , who is one of the Hon . Treasurers . During the evening the brethren were charmed by some exquisite musical selections rendered in their usual finished stjleby several prominent members of the Masonic Glee Club , and all separated at a late hour after a most thoroughly enjoyable Masonic festival .
