OUR PORTRAIT GALLERY OF WORSHIPFUL MASTERS . In future numbers of the Freemason we purpose giving a series of portraits of VVorshipful Masters who have been recently installed . Recognising the fact that no greater honour can be bestowed on a brother than to be elected the Master of his lodge , we

Masonic Notes .
I he result of " Our Boys' " examination in the Cambridge Locals , which we announced last week , are very satisfactory , and show that the educational standard is kept up to the improved point of the two previous years . A total of 22 passes—six with honours and three with " distinction "—is a good record . The policy of the
Board of Management is to enter for the examinations not merely those boys who arc known to be good enough to pass , and so get a high , but valueless , percentage , but to give every boy of a certain age a chance of passing . Failures , therefore , are incentives to better work for the future , and the policy adopted is an encouraging one to all .
Masonic Notes.
The new scheme adopted by the Board of Management to retain deserving clever boys beyond the age of 15 years will enable the School to compete in the Senior Exams , in future years .
The opinion we expressed in our issue of the 25 th ult . was confirmed by Bro . Eve at the Council Meeting of the R . M . I . Boys . Bro . Eve ruled that the next Council Meeting , due on Good Friday , March 31 st , and postponed by the operation of Law 48 to the
following Friday , April 7 th , would be the ordinary March meeting , and that nominations for the Board of Management could then be made for the election by the Quarterly Court of the following Friday . * * *
The final meeting of the Board of Stewards for the recent Festival of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution was held at Freemasons' Hall on Monday , when Bro . C . E . Keyser , the Chairman at the Anniversary , who was present in his capacity of
President of the Board , was most cordially received and congratulated on the success of the gathering . The usual accounts were submitted and ordered to be paid , and , votes of thanks having been unanimously passed to the officers , the Board was dissolved .
* Within the last three weeks an event of very considerable importanc 2 has occurred in Liverpool in connection with the Lodge of Sincerity , No . 292 , the event in question being none other than the celebration of
the centenary of its foundation . The lodge has an excellent record , of which it has every reason to be proud , there having been selected from its ranks no less than four Prov . Grand Secretaries during the term of its existence . Moreover , it has many good men
and true among its Past Masters , the most conspicuous being Bro . Robert Wylie , P . G . D . England , P . P . S . G . W . West Lancashire . Its W . M . is Bro . Robert Cobb , who presided at the banquet at which the auspicious anniversary was celebrated and was supported by Bros
J . D . Murray , G . Treas . England ; S . G . Sinclair , S . G . D . ; W . Goodacre , P . G . S . B , Prov . G . Sec . West Lancashire ; and others . Bro . Wy lie read an historical sketch of the lodge's career , and Bro . Sinclair , in the absence of the Prov . Grand Master , handed over the
centenary warrant to the custody of the W . M ., who , later in the evening , was presented with the centenary jewel . VVe trust the future of the Lodge of Sincerity may be in all respects worthy of its past career . * * »
We have to correct a slight but unfortunate misprint which occurred at page 29 of our issue for the 2 ist January last , and to which our attention has just been called . In one of our " Notes " which appeared in the
issue in question , it was stated that the 29 members of the " Stewart" Lodge , No . i 960 ( E . G . ) , Rawal Pindi and their friends had contributed " 400 rupees " to the " Punjab Masonic Institution . " The amount should be stated as " 4000 rupr . es . "
» * « Dr . Dassigny's " Serious and Impartial Enquiry into the Cause of the Present Decay of Masonry in the Kingdom of Ireland , " of the year 1 744 , has been re . produced in exact facsimile by Bro . Richard Jackson , publisher , of Leeds , and a most satisfactory and
faithful reproduction it is . In all respects it is as , and equal to , the original volume , which is extremely scarce and very valuable , only two copies being known . One in the famous Iowa Grand Lodge Library , and the other is in the West Yorkshire Masonic Library . The facsimile has been made from the latter , and it is the first time the whole of the work has been reproduced .
? * * The introduction is by Bro . Hughan , and treats of the origin and progress of the Royal Arch Degree from 1 743 to 1893 . No one is better qualified to write on this intricate matter than our distinguished confrere ,
and it is needless to state the sketch is both able and interesting . There is nothing so complete of the kind in the English language , for although brief and rigidly condensed , the information is invaluable , and many of the points and facts mentioned have only recently been brought to light through ILo . Hughan's persistent
enquiries . This recherche volume has been dedicated to Bro . William Watson , the Honorary Librarian of the West Yorkshire Masonic collection , by the editor and publisher , " f ; n token of sincere regard and hearty appreciation of his many services to the Craft , " a dedication of which anyone might well feel proud , and one , doubtless , Bro ,.
