KELVEDON . Easterford Lodge ( No .-2342 ) . —it is given to few to have the power , and even when the means exist , there are a still smaller number who are willing to devote the time and the trouble to superintend a grand and hospitable display , such as was witnessed on Thursday , the 2 nd inst ., at Felix Hal , the seat of Bro . Capt . H . A . Weatherall .
Indeed , except when a lodge happens to be under the immediate direction of some one of our titled and most wealthy Prov . G . Al . 's , it is very seldom that a meeting of that lodge can be held elsewhere than in the regular and usual lodge rooms . Easterford Lodge happily rejoices in numbering amongst its members a brother who , blessed not alone with ample means and a palatial country seat , is at the same time
a most zealous and devoted worker in the Craft , and it was indeed a happy thought which led him to conceive and carry out the idea of converting his library at Felix Hall into a charming lodge , and of throwing open his famous dining room as a banquet hall . A special dispensation for this arrangement was obtained from the P . G . AI ., Bro . Lord Brooke , and on Thursday , the 2 nd inst ., a great gathering
of Essex Masons , as also of many visitors from various parts , assembled to do honour to the occasion , which was no less than that of the installation of the kind and generous host into the chair of Easterford Lodge . The lodge was opened by the retiring Master , Bro . ] . L . Ogier , and after the confirmation of the minutes and the reception of the Auditors' report . Bro . Cant . H . A .
Wetherall , S . W . and VV . M . elect , was duly presented , and placed in the chair of K . S . by Bro . Ogier in an admirable manner . At the conclusion of the ceremony , a vote of thanks was accorded to Bro . Ogier , and before the lodge was closed , Bro . J . H . Salter , P . AL , in a very charming and eulogistic speech , begged Bro . Ogier ' s acceptance of a very handsome Past Master's jewel , as a token of the
regard and esteem in which he was held b y the members of the lodge , and as a small , but nevertheless appreciative , memento of the excellence of his services during his year of office . Bro . Salter , in conclusion , wished to express the regret that he and all the other members of the lodge felt at Bro . Ogier's departure from Essex , but thev entertained
no doubt that the Alasonic brethren of Guernsey , which was now to be Bro . Ogier ' s place of residence , would give so excellent a brother a hearty welcome amongst them . The lodge being closed , the brethren were marshalled into the glorious dining room of Felix Hall , where the hospitality of the generous host was as princely and sumptuous as it was unbounded . Between 60 and 70 brethren sat down to dinner .
The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were pleasingly interspersed with most excellent harmony , vocal and instrumental , and celebrated as Felix Hall has been in the past for its conviviality and lavish hospitality , never , we venture to assert , was a toast within those walls more enthusiastically or more warmly received than that of "Bro . Captain Wetherall , " most feelingly and eloquently proposed by the

AI ., was to take the ¦ nair

Pattison Lodge ( No . 913 ) . — The meeting of this lodge , at the Masonic Hall , Mount Pleasant , on Thursday , the 2 nd instant , was rendered more than ordinarily interesting by the fact that unon that occasion the worthy son of a worthy sire was received into the Order with much eclat . Mason , who is an esteemed Past Master of the lodge , by special request , initiated the candidate , and was warml y congratulated , not only on the masterly manner in which he performed the ceremony , but on having the pleasure of

The next business was the presentation of a handsome timepiece to Bro . Albert Storr , P . AL , P . P . G . P ., the late Secretary of the lodge . In making the presentation , the W . AL referred to the active steps Bro . Storr took in the formation
of a Alasonic lodge in Surbiton , and highly eulogised his energetic work in the promotion of Alasonry in the district since . He hoped Bro . Storr would be spared many years to look upon the clock , and in doing so that he would ever be reminded of the Surbiton Lodge , and the hearty good wishes of the members . Bro . Storr , in reply , said he deeply felt the expression of esteem and regard which the brethren
had extended to him , and he should always think with pleasure of the happy evenings spent with the brethren , who had always rendered him every assistance . Bro . Storr's connection with Alasonry has been of some 17 years' standing . He is a P . M . ol the Skelmersdale Lodge , No . 1658 , in which he was initiated , having passed the chair in five
years . As a founder of the Surbiton Lodge , Bro . Storr was at the consecration appointed to the S . W . ' s chair , and unanimously elected W . M . in the next year . He was also Preceptor of the Surbiton Lodge of Instruction from its formation until a recent date . After some business discussion , and " Hearty good wishes , " the lodge was closed . '

Henry Irving and the Lycum Companyat Windsor Castle , on Friday next , the 17 th inst ., shall take place on the following day . The ] Lyceum , therefore , will be closed on the Saturday , and there will be a performance of " Becket" at the theatre on the 17 th inst .

The lodge was opened by the retiring Master , Bro . ] . L . Ogier , and after the confirmation of the minutes and the reception of the Auditors' report . Bro . Cant . H . A .
Wetherall , S . W . and VV . M . elect , was duly presented , and placed in the chair of K . S . by Bro . Ogier in an admirable manner . At the conclusion of the ceremony , a vote of thanks was accorded to Bro . Ogier , and before the lodge was closed , Bro . J . H . Salter , P . AL , in a very charming and eulogistic speech , begged Bro . Ogier ' s acceptance of a very handsome Past Master's jewel , as a token of the
regard and esteem in which he was held b y the members of the lodge , and as a small , but nevertheless appreciative , memento of the excellence of his services during his year of office . Bro . Salter , in conclusion , wished to express the regret that he and all the other members of the lodge felt at Bro . Ogier's departure from Essex , but thev entertained
no doubt that the Alasonic brethren of Guernsey , which was now to be Bro . Ogier ' s place of residence , would give so excellent a brother a hearty welcome amongst them . The lodge being closed , the brethren were marshalled into the glorious dining room of Felix Hall , where the hospitality of the generous host was as princely and sumptuous as it was unbounded . Between 60 and 70 brethren sat down to dinner .
The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were pleasingly interspersed with most excellent harmony , vocal and instrumental , and celebrated as Felix Hall has been in the past for its conviviality and lavish hospitality , never , we venture to assert , was a toast within those walls more enthusiastically or more warmly received than that of "Bro . Captain Wetherall , " most feelingly and eloquently proposed by the

The next business was the presentation of a handsome timepiece to Bro . Albert Storr , P . AL , P . P . G . P ., the late Secretary of the lodge . In making the presentation , the W . AL referred to the active steps Bro . Storr took in the formation
of a Alasonic lodge in Surbiton , and highly eulogised his energetic work in the promotion of Alasonry in the district since . He hoped Bro . Storr would be spared many years to look upon the clock , and in doing so that he would ever be reminded of the Surbiton Lodge , and the hearty good wishes of the members . Bro . Storr , in reply , said he deeply felt the expression of esteem and regard which the brethren
had extended to him , and he should always think with pleasure of the happy evenings spent with the brethren , who had always rendered him every assistance . Bro . Storr's connection with Alasonry has been of some 17 years' standing . He is a P . M . ol the Skelmersdale Lodge , No . 1658 , in which he was initiated , having passed the chair in five
years . As a founder of the Surbiton Lodge , Bro . Storr was at the consecration appointed to the S . W . ' s chair , and unanimously elected W . M . in the next year . It has bcen arranged that the performance of the late Lord Tennyson's " Becket , " which was to have been given by Bro . Henry Irving and the Lycum Companyat Windsor Castle , on Friday next , the 17 th inst ., shall take place on the following day . The ] Lyceum , therefore , will be closed on the Saturday , and there will be a performance of " Becket" at the theatre on the 17 th inst .
