INSTALLATION OF HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS THE DUKE OF CONNAUGHT AS M . W . G . MASTER .

It will be welcome news to our readers that His Royal Highness the Duke of CONNAUGHT , K . G ., has been pleased to direct that his installation as M . W . G . Master shall take place at the Royal Albert Hall , South Kensington , on VVednesday , the

17 th July . A circular has accordingly been addressed to the \ V . Masters of lodges by the Grand Secretary with a view to obtaining from them lists of brethren who are qualified to attend

Grand Lodge . The answers to this circular are requested to be made to the Grand Secretary on or before the ist June , so that arrangements for the accommodation of the brethren may be made as soon and as completely as possible .

The Royal Albert Hall is capable of accommodating a vast concourse of people , and the Masonic meetings that have been held within it have been marvels of success as far as the

completeness and regularity of the arrangements have been concerned ; nor have we any reason to doubt that what has heen accomplished with such brilliant success in the past can be repeated . But Masters of Lodges must bear in mind that there

are now nearly twice as many private lodges on the register as in 18 75 , and consequentl y that the number of those qualified to he present has been proportionately increased . We trust , therefore , that they will lose no time in making their replies to the circular .

•ittended the first in aid of the Benevolent Institution in 1 ' ebruary . A grand total of upwards of £ 25 , 000 such as was subscribed for the Old People between two and three months sll " ice is not easily surpassed , but it was surpassed on this occasion by more than £ 1000 . In these circumstances we offer

'ur sincere congratulations in the first place to Earl AMHERST ° " the brilliant success of his lirst Chairmanship 011 behalf of the Girls' School , and his Province of Kent for the amount of

support they gave to his Chairmanship—thc total of their l ' ° iitributions , including the Perpetual Presentation founded , ls a memorial of the event , being in excess of any previous

Provincial total at one Festival ! We also congratulate the other Provinces that furnished Stewards , and the contributing London Lodges for the handsome part they took in the proceedings . Lastly , we congratulate the Institution itself on this accession to

its funds , and particularly the Secretary and his Staff and the House Committee , to whose earnest and combined efforts the result achieved on Wednesday is principally due . This , with

the exception of the Centenary Festival , is the most successful that has been held in aid of "Our Girls , " but we trust it will not retain for long the premier place among its ordinary Festivals ,

Earl AMHERST next said they had on two occasions had the advantage of having the presence of Queen Alexandra at their Masonic Charity Festivals , first to inaugurate the hall in which they met last Monday , the other when she distributed the prizes at the Centenary of the Boys' School , and he asked them now to drink her health coupled with that of the D J I C »
