Ashburtqn Lodge ( No . 2189 ) . —The annual installation meeting of this lodge was held on the 25 th ult ., at the Masonic Hall , when there was a good attendance of members and visiting brethren . M . presiding , and an enjoyable evening was spent .
BASNET . Ravenscroft Lodge ( No . 2331 ) . —The members of this flourishing lodge assembled in good numbers at the Red Lion Hotel on Saturday , the 4 th inst , for the second annual " ladies' night , " when the Ravenscrofts are permitted to bring their wives and lady friends to enjoy the hospitality of the lodge . Bro . Fraser , P . M .
220 G , the W . M ., presided inthe lodge , and after raising four candidates and passing another , the members assembled round the festive board , each of the brethren being accompanied by a lady . The W . M . and Mrs . Fraser were at the head of the table , the S . W . and J . W ., accompanied by their ladies , occupying their usual places .
Bro . Phillips , the host , put on an excellent dinner , and during the disposal of the good things , & c , Mr . Peach ' s quadrille band played a capital selection of music , much to the delight of the diners . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts having been disposed of , the W . M . gave " The Ladies " in happy terms , the
response being entrusted to Bro . Baker , the Treasurer . " The Visitors " was also duly honoured . "The Officers" was given by the W . M ., and replied to by Bro . Hudson , S . W . All the toasts and responses were commendably brief , and much time was thus saved in order that the entertainment in the way of dancing , with songs after each dance
, should be as full as possible . The dinner disposed of , Bros . Hudson and Fearie , who made first-class M . C . ' s , intimated that the exercises on the light fantastic might commence . The W . M . and his wife then led off the first dance , and in a few moments the whole party joined in . Bro . Thorn , the I . P . M ., and the Wine
stewards looked after the refreshment department , while the D . of C . did whatever was necessary to ensure the comfort of all present . The dancing was kept up with much spirit until 12 o'clock , and soon after that hour the guests were speeding homeward , expressing satisfaction with the excellent
programme which had been provided by the W . M . and members of the Ravenscroft Lodge . A Committee is about to be formed to carry out a series of Cinderalla dances during the vacation of the lodge , and if the opinions of the ladies are any guide , the " small and early ' s" should be a big success .

William Hollis was re-elected Charity representative for the ensuing- vear , and in a few well chosen words accepted the office . It was then proposed by Bro . Wm . Hollis , I . P . M ., and seconded by Bro . Wm . T . Brailey , P . M ., P . P . A . G . P . Kent , that the report
of the Audit Committee be taken as read , adopted , and entered on the lodge minutes , which was unanimously agreed to . The alteration of by-laws in accordance with the I . P . M's ., Bro . Wm . Hollis , noticeof motion , after being duly seconded , was adopted by the brethren . The W . M ., Bro . C . F . Quicke , was then proclaimed Master for the ensuing year by the I . P . M ., Bro . Wm . Hollis , Bro . Wm .
T . Brailey , acting as D . of C , under whose direction the W . M . received the customary salutations . The officers appointed by the W . M . were Bros . J . Marshall , S . W . ; C . A . Dettmer , J . W . ; Wm . Hollis , I . P . M ., Treas . ; E . J . Goodale , P . M ., Sec . ; T . Smith , S . D . ; A . J . Perriam , J . D . ; G . Proctor , I . G . ; A . Muir , Stwd . ; and J . Rawles , Tyler . The addresses to the Wardens and the lodge
generally were then delivered by the I . P . M ., Bro . Wm . Hollis , in a very impressive manner , who afterwards , in the name of the lodge , presented to the W . M . a handsome jewel and collar as a mark of the brethren ' s esteem and appreciation of his services to the lodge during the past year , expressing the hope that he might be spared to wear it in the lodge for many years . The W . M . in a few felicitous words thanked
the brethren , and reiterated his previous promises to make the well-being of the lodge his constant aim , and further stating that the kindness he had received during the past year was an earnest of the support he should receive during his present year of office . Mr . John Wilde and Mr . Walter Herring were then duly proposed for initiation into Freemasonry .
After receiving the " Hearty good wishes " of the visiting brethren , the lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to the banquet room . About 30 brethren and guests sat down in the Village Hall to a very recherche' banquet , provided by mine host , Bro . G . Whomes , of the Bull Hotel , to which adequate justice was done . The W . M . announced that it was his intention , in
conjunction with his predecessor , Bro . William Hollis ( so long known to the brethren in connection with the Masonic Charities ) , to stand as Steward to represent the lodge at the jubilee celebration of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , and sincerely hoped that the goodwill expressed towards him would find a ready response , when he asked them to put their hands in their pockets to swell his list in
February next on that all important occasion . All the usual Masonic toasts met with full honour , the provincial toasts being very heartily responded to , especially that of Earl Amherst , the much esteemed Provincial Grand Master , also his Deputy , Bro . J . S . Eastes . There being some excellent musical talent amongst the brethren present , the evening passed in a most harmonious manner . DEVONPORT .
St . Aubyn Lodge ( No . 954 ) . —This lodge held its annual meeting on Tuesday , the 23 rd ult ., at Ebrington Hall . Bro . A . A . Donovan was installed W . M . Bro . C . Watson , P . P . G . D . C , carried out the installation in a very able manner , assisted by Bros . J . Jolliffe and J . R . Dugdale . The officers invested were Bros . H . Nichols , I . P . M . j I . T . Allingham , S . illhealth of Bro . Viscount Ebrington , the Prov . Grand Master , who had just been obliged to leave England , and hopes were expressed that he would return in improved health to preside at the Provincial Grand Lodge meeting in August . Bro . Tresise responded for "The Prov . Grand Master and the Provincial Grand Lodge of Cornwall " in a learned
resume of the Masonic history of that province . Bros . W . L . Lavers , 1255 , and S . Jenkins , 156 , replied for "The Visitors . " Among the entertainers of the evening were Bros . W . L . Lavers , W . G . Watson , Ashworth , and Kellard , and F . Watson , Ball , and others .
DONCASTER . St . George ' s Lodge ( No . 242 ) . —The monthly meeting of this lodge was held on Friday , the 3 rd inst ., in the Masonic Rooms , when there were present Bros . J . Fitzgerald , W . introduced and initiated into Freemasonry . Bro . H . F . Gardiner-Salt proposed that Bro . Joseph Steele , the first W . M . and one of the founders , be offered the honorary membership of the lodge , which was seconded and carried unanimously . Bro . S . F . Smyth , S . W ., gave notice of his intention of becoming a steward at the next Festival of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , and asked to be allowed to represent that lodge , which was unanimously

granted . The W . M ., Bro . E . H . Minns , informed the brethren that his list for the Boys' Festival amounted to the sum of £ 75 12 s ., being the largest in the Province of Surrey . The notice of the removal of the lodge was taken into consideration and agreed to . The summons notifying the meeting of P . G . Lodge , at Croydon , on the 23 rd July next , was read , and the lodge was closed .
The brethren afterwards adjourned to the King ' s Head Hotel for banquet , when the W . M . proposed the usual loyal toasts , which were duly honoured . Bro . Ellis , P . M ., proposed "The Health of the W . M ., " saying he did not think he could do adequate justice to the toast , but he would say that every brother of the lodge was truly happy to see him in the capacity of W . M . that
evening , as he was an excellent worker and had his heart in his work , and he felt sure that when his year of office had expired he would receive a hearty vote of thanks for the thorough way he had performed his duties while in the chair . The Worshipful Master , in reply , said he was not good at speeches , but would do his best for the Greenwood Lodge , and he was pleased to see that under the new arrangements
they were making progress , and he felt sure they would have a very successful lodge in a short time . All the members had their hearts in the work , and everything was now going on well . The Worshipful Master next proposed the toast of " The Initiate" in very feeling terms , saying he had known him as a straightforward gentleman for upwards of 20 years , and
in introducing him to the lodge he felt sure he would become an honoured and useful member . The Initiate , in reply , said he would always remember his entrance into Freemasonry , and from his heart he promised to assist in doing all he possibly could for its benefit , and cordially thanked the brethren for the kind
reception he had received from them that evening . The Worshipful Master next proposed "The Visitors , " which was responded to by them all . The toasts of "The Past Masters , " "Treasurer and Secretary , " and " The Officers " were also given , and the evening was brought to a close by the Tyler ' s toast .

Std . Br ., and Treas . of the lodge , as a tribute of affectionate respect to the memory of his late friend . The W . M . gratefully accepted the presentation on behalf of the brethren . The portrait , which is life-size , represents Bro . Arden in Provincial Grand Lodge clothing , as Swd . Br .,
and is the latest production of Mr . T . Tindall Wildndge , upon whose skill it reflects great credit , the details of the Masonic clothing being very artistically subordinated . An elegant collation , at which 73 brethren were present , was subsequently served in the spacious dining hall , and during the evening the utmost cordiality prevailed . Amongst those present we noticed Bro . J . W . Woodall , P . G . Treas . of England , the W . M . 's from the sister and visiting lodges , and several brethren from distant parts .

William Hollis was re-elected Charity representative for the ensuing- vear , and in a few well chosen words accepted the office . It was then proposed by Bro . Wm . Hollis , I . P . M ., and seconded by Bro . Wm . T . Brailey , P . M ., P . P . A . G . P . Kent , that the report
of the Audit Committee be taken as read , adopted , and entered on the lodge minutes , which was unanimously agreed to . The alteration of by-laws in accordance with the I . P . M's ., Bro . Wm . Hollis , noticeof motion , after being duly seconded , was adopted by the brethren . The W . M ., Bro . C . F . Quicke , was then proclaimed Master for the ensuing year by the I . P . M ., Bro . Wm . Hollis , Bro . Wm .
T . Brailey , acting as D . of C , under whose direction the W . M . received the customary salutations . The officers appointed by the W . M . were Bros . J . Marshall , S . W . ; C . A . Rawles , Tyler . The addresses to the Wardens and the lodge
generally were then delivered by the I . P . M ., Bro . Wm . Hollis , in a very impressive manner , who afterwards , in the name of the lodge , presented to the W . M . a handsome jewel and collar as a mark of the brethren ' s esteem and appreciation of his services to the lodge during the past year , expressing the hope that he might be spared to wear it in the lodge for many years . The W . M . in a few felicitous words thanked
the brethren , and reiterated his previous promises to make the well-being of the lodge his constant aim , and further stating that the kindness he had received during the past year was an earnest of the support he should receive during his present year of office . Mr . John Wilde and Mr . Walter Herring were then duly proposed for initiation into Freemasonry .
After receiving the " Hearty good wishes " of the visiting brethren , the lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to the banquet room . About 30 brethren and guests sat down in the Village Hall to a very recherche' banquet , provided by mine host , Bro . G . Whomes , of the Bull Hotel , to which adequate justice was done . The W . M . announced that it was his intention , in
conjunction with his predecessor , Bro . William Hollis ( so long known to the brethren in connection with the Masonic Charities ) , to stand as Steward to represent the lodge at the jubilee celebration of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , and sincerely hoped that the goodwill expressed towards him would find a ready response , when he asked them to put their hands in their pockets to swell his list in
February next on that all important occasion . All the usual Masonic toasts met with full honour , the provincial toasts being very heartily responded to , especially that of Earl Amherst , the much esteemed Provincial Grand Master , also his Deputy , Bro . J . S . Eastes . There being some excellent musical talent amongst the brethren present , the evening passed in a most harmonious manner . DEVONPORT .

Grand Master , who had just been obliged to leave England , and hopes were expressed that he would return in improved health to preside at the Provincial Grand Lodge meeting in August . Bro . Tresise responded for "The Prov . Grand Master and the Provincial Grand Lodge of Cornwall " in a learned

W ., gave notice of his intention of becoming a steward at the next Festival of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , and asked to be allowed to represent that lodge , which was unanimously

granted . The W . M ., Bro . E . H . Minns , informed the brethren that his list for the Boys' Festival amounted to the sum of £ 75 12 s ., being the largest in the Province of Surrey . The notice of the removal of the lodge was taken into consideration and agreed to . The summons notifying the meeting of P . G . Lodge , at Croydon , on the 23 rd July next , was read , and the lodge was closed .
The brethren afterwards adjourned to the King ' s Head Hotel for banquet , when the W . M . proposed the usual loyal toasts , which were duly honoured . Bro . Ellis , P . M ., proposed "The Health of the W . M ., " saying he did not think he could do adequate justice to the toast , but he would say that every brother of the lodge was truly happy to see him in the capacity of W . M . that
evening , as he was an excellent worker and had his heart in his work , and he felt sure that when his year of office had expired he would receive a hearty vote of thanks for the thorough way he had performed his duties while in the chair . The Worshipful Master , in reply , said he was not good at speeches , but would do his best for the Greenwood Lodge , and he was pleased to see that under the new arrangements
they were making progress , and he felt sure they would have a very successful lodge in a short time . All the members had their hearts in the work , and everything was now going on well . The Worshipful Master next proposed the toast of " The Initiate" in very feeling terms , saying he had known him as a straightforward gentleman for upwards of 20 years , and
in introducing him to the lodge he felt sure he would become an honoured and useful member . The Initiate , in reply , said he would always remember his entrance into Freemasonry , and from his heart he promised to assist in doing all he possibly could for its benefit , and cordially thanked the brethren for the kind
reception he had received from them that evening . The Worshipful Master next proposed "The Visitors , " which was responded to by them all . The toasts of "The Past Masters , " "Treasurer and Secretary , " and " The Officers " were also given , and the evening was brought to a close by the Tyler ' s toast .

Std . Br ., and Treas . of the lodge , as a tribute of affectionate respect to the memory of his late friend . The W . M . gratefully accepted the presentation on behalf of the brethren . The portrait , which is life-size , represents Bro . Arden in Provincial Grand Lodge clothing , as Swd . Br .,
and is the latest production of Mr . T . Tindall Wildndge , upon whose skill it reflects great credit , the details of the Masonic clothing being very artistically subordinated . An elegant collation , at which 73 brethren were present , was subsequently served in the spacious dining hall , and during the evening the utmost cordiality prevailed . Amongst those present we noticed Bro . J . W . Woodall , P . G . Treas . of England , the W . M . 's from the sister and visiting lodges , and several brethren from distant parts .
