Ladies' Evening Of The Britannic Lodge, No. 33.
Several part songs were admirably rendered , and each of the party contributed solos , all being so good it is difficult to select any , but reference may be made to the contributions of Miss Howard-Reynolds and Mdlle . Lovenez . Perhaps the most striking item was a duet , " Hark to the Mandolin , " in which Miss Ronald's sympathetic contralto told with much advantage . The
mandolin obbligato , as well as a subsequent solo by Miss Walker , afforded much pleasure . Bro . Lawler accompanied in his well-known style . In addition to the Meisterin Vocalists , songs were given by Miss Bertha Colnaghi ( " Valley by the sea " and " Come to me " ) , who was in splendid voice , and by Miss Shoulbridge , Bro . F . A . Jewson ably accompanying , and by
Bro . Barry , who sang " The Diver " and " The Pedlar . " Bro . Graham gave much pleasure by his clever whistling and piano selections from " II Trovatore " and a capitil song , " Are they the same at home . " Two clever daughters of the J . D ., the AlissesTamburini , gave recitations in admirable style , and the W . M ,
afforded a novel change by giving two short exhibitions of lime-light views , on a large sheet , of the Tower Bridge and Venice . Altogether a most enjoyable evening was spent , which passed all too quickly , and concluded with a cordial vote of thanks , carried by acclamation , to the W . M . for closing his year of office in so pleasant a manner .

The second annual festival in connection with this lodge of instruction ( established 1848 ) was held at the Masonic Hall , New-street , Birmingham , on Friday , the

The excluded brethren having been re-admitted , the usual greetings were given , after which the Installing Master gave the addresses to the officers and brethren . The usual enquiries were then made , and the Iodge was closed .
The brethren afterwards partook of a banquet in the adjoining room . Bro . J . T . Collins , D . P . G . M ., presided , and was supported by Bros . R . C . Sudlow , N . H . Turner , J . F . Pepper , A . W . Adams , and other wellknown Preceptors of the Emulation " working . " A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Bro . Sudlow for his great kindness in assisting the lodge so much ,
that being the third time he had ree ntly visited the Iodge . Bro . SUDLOW suitably replied , and said that he hoped to be present at the next festival—a sentiment which the brethren most cordially endorsed . After the usual Alasonic toasts , the brethren separated , having spent a very pleasant and instructive evening .
The lodge is now in a very nourishing condition , for which thanks are chiefly du-i to Bros . Collins and Sudlow , who have done all in their power to render the working as near perfection as possible since it was adopted as the standard working for the province , and the smooth way the work went showed that Bro . Sudlow ' s previous visits had been carefully remembered , and his working strictly adhered to by all the brethren of the Iodge .

The first meeting of the Board of Stewards for the Boys' School Festival was held on Thursday last , when Bro . AIcLeod had a most satisfactory report to make as the result of the appeal which he has been so energetically making during the past few months . The officers of the Board appointed were as follows Honorary Presidenls—The Marquis of Zetland ,
P . G . AI . for N . and E . Yorkshire ; the Earl of Euston , P . G . M . Norths and Hunts ; and Thos . W . Tew , Esq ., P . P . G . M . West Yorkshire . President—Henry Smith , P . G . D ., D . P . G . M . West Yorks . Acting Presidents—Chas . E . Keyser , P . G . D ., Treasurer and Patron of Institution , and George Everett , P . G . Treas ., Vice-Patron of Institution .
Hon . Treasurer—James Willing , jun ., Vice-Patron of Institution . Hon . Secretary—J . Morrison McLeod , Secretary of Institution . The several claims of the Crystal Palace and Brighton were stoutly advanced and advocated ; but , by a large majority , it was decided to hold the Festival at Brighton , on the same lines as the successful ones of 1891 and 18 93 .

BRO . THOMAS LAMB SMITH . Bro . Thomas Lamb Smith , of the city of Worcester , a well-known Freemason , died on the 2 nd instant . He was initiated in 1 S 64 in the Worcester Lodge , No . 280 , and has filled all the offices with credit and renown . In 1 S 66 he was exalted to the Royal Arch in the St . Wulstan ' s Chapter , No . 280 , where he likewise filled
all the offices . In Mark Masonry , he especially distinguished himself in the Lechmere Lodge , No . 59 . He had also taken the Degrees of Knights Templar , Red Cross , Ark Alariner , St . Lawrence , Knight of Constantinople , Babylon , and H . P . ; also Rose Croix , ib ° , Royal Order of Scotland , and the 30 . Bro . Lane Smith worked in all Degrees with zeal , and
retained office till death , really dying " in harness . " The Province of Worcestershire had bestowed upon him the high rank of Grand Warden several years ago . He was Life Governor of each of the Masonic Institutions . Besides his Masonic position , he was a busy citizen of Worcester , being a member of the City Council , having served the offices of City Chamberlain , Guardian
for the Poor , & c , and was also a Director of the Gas Company , and held many other public appointments . He was buried at Norwood Cemetery by the side of his wife , who had pre-deceased him . Alany brethren being unable lo go to London to pay their last sad mark of respect , attended a special memorial service at Hol y Trinity Church , Worcester , at the hour fixed for the funeral . The Mayor of Worcester ( Bro . G . H .
Williamson ) was present , with other members of the Corporation . Bro . Rev . G . F . Hough , the Vicar of Holy Trinity ( the W . M . of the Worcester Lodge ) , conducted the service in such a way as to leave , 1 lasting impression on those who were present . The music was specially solemn . Bro . Lamb Smith had endeared himself to all the brethren , so that his loss will be severely felt .
BRO . BATEMAN S . LIDDELL . VVe regret to announce the death of Bro . Bateman S . Liddell , which occurred at his residence , VVest Drayton , on the Sth inst . He had been a member of the Strong Alan Lodge , No . 45 , for 32 years , and for the last four
years its Treasurer . His lour sons are also members of No . 45 , one of whom has passed the chair . Bro . Liddell was much respected both in Masonic and other circles , and his loss will be much felt . He was 62 years of age .

Several part songs were admirably rendered , and each of the party contributed solos , all being so good it is difficult to select any , but reference may be made to the contributions of Miss Howard-Reynolds and Mdlle . Lovenez . Perhaps the most striking item was a duet , " Hark to the Mandolin , " in which Miss Ronald's sympathetic contralto told with much advantage . The
mandolin obbligato , as well as a subsequent solo by Miss Walker , afforded much pleasure . Bro . Lawler accompanied in his well-known style . In addition to the Meisterin Vocalists , songs were given by Miss Bertha Colnaghi ( " Valley by the sea " and " Come to me " ) , who was in splendid voice , and by Miss Shoulbridge , Bro . F . A . Jewson ably accompanying , and by
Bro . Barry , who sang " The Diver " and " The Pedlar . " Bro . Graham gave much pleasure by his clever whistling and piano selections from " II Trovatore " and a capitil song , " Are they the same at home . " Two clever daughters of the J . D ., the AlissesTamburini , gave recitations in admirable style , and the W . M ,
afforded a novel change by giving two short exhibitions of lime-light views , on a large sheet , of the Tower Bridge and Venice . Altogether a most enjoyable evening was spent , which passed all too quickly , and concluded with a cordial vote of thanks , carried by acclamation , to the W . M . for closing his year of office in so pleasant a manner .

The second annual festival in connection with this lodge of instruction ( established 1848 ) was held at the Masonic Hall , New-street , Birmingham , on Friday , the

The excluded brethren having been re-admitted , the usual greetings were given , after which the Installing Master gave the addresses to the officers and brethren . The usual enquiries were then made , and the Iodge was closed .
The brethren afterwards partook of a banquet in the adjoining room . Bro . J . T . Collins , D . P . G . M ., presided , and was supported by Bros . R . C . Sudlow , N . H . Turner , J . F . Pepper , A . W . Adams , and other wellknown Preceptors of the Emulation " working . " A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Bro . Sudlow for his great kindness in assisting the lodge so much ,
that being the third time he had ree ntly visited the Iodge . Bro . SUDLOW suitably replied , and said that he hoped to be present at the next festival—a sentiment which the brethren most cordially endorsed . After the usual Alasonic toasts , the brethren separated , having spent a very pleasant and instructive evening .
The lodge is now in a very nourishing condition , for which thanks are chiefly du-i to Bros . Collins and Sudlow , who have done all in their power to render the working as near perfection as possible since it was adopted as the standard working for the province , and the smooth way the work went showed that Bro . Sudlow ' s previous visits had been carefully remembered , and his working strictly adhered to by all the brethren of the Iodge .

The first meeting of the Board of Stewards for the Boys' School Festival was held on Thursday last , when Bro . AIcLeod had a most satisfactory report to make as the result of the appeal which he has been so energetically making during the past few months . The several claims of the Crystal Palace and Brighton were stoutly advanced and advocated ; but , by a large majority , it was decided to hold the Festival at Brighton , on the same lines as the successful ones of 1891 and 18 93 .

BRO . THOMAS LAMB SMITH . Bro . Thomas Lamb Smith , of the city of Worcester , a well-known Freemason , died on the 2 nd instant . He was initiated in 1 S 64 in the Worcester Lodge , No . 280 , and has filled all the offices with credit and renown . In 1 S 66 he was exalted to the Royal Arch in the St . Wulstan ' s Chapter , No . 280 , where he likewise filled
all the offices . In Mark Masonry , he especially distinguished himself in the Lechmere Lodge , No . 59 . He had also taken the Degrees of Knights Templar , Red Cross , Ark Alariner , St . Lawrence , Knight of Constantinople , Babylon , and H . P . ; also Rose Croix , ib ° , Royal Order of Scotland , and the 30 . Bro . Lane Smith worked in all Degrees with zeal , and
retained office till death , really dying " in harness . " The Province of Worcestershire had bestowed upon him the high rank of Grand Warden several years ago . He was Life Governor of each of the Masonic Institutions . Besides his Masonic position , he was a busy citizen of Worcester , being a member of the City Council , having served the offices of City Chamberlain , Guardian
for the Poor , & c , and was also a Director of the Gas Company , and held many other public appointments . He was buried at Norwood Cemetery by the side of his wife , who had pre-deceased him . Alany brethren being unable lo go to London to pay their last sad mark of respect , attended a special memorial service at Hol y Trinity Church , Worcester , at the hour fixed for the funeral . The Mayor of Worcester ( Bro . G . H .
Williamson ) was present , with other members of the Corporation . Bro . Rev . G . F . Hough , the Vicar of Holy Trinity ( the W . M . of the Worcester Lodge ) , conducted the service in such a way as to leave , 1 lasting impression on those who were present . The music was specially solemn . Bro . Lamb Smith had endeared himself to all the brethren , so that his loss will be severely felt .
BRO . BATEMAN S . LIDDELL . VVe regret to announce the death of Bro . Bateman S . Liddell , which occurred at his residence , VVest Drayton , on the Sth inst . He had been a member of the Strong Alan Lodge , No . 45 , for 32 years , and for the last four
years its Treasurer . His lour sons are also members of No . 45 , one of whom has passed the chair . Bro . Liddell was much respected both in Masonic and other circles , and his loss will be much felt . He was 62 years of age .
