Reports Of Masonic Meetings.

Bro . Palmer , in response , said the kindly feeling evinced by the brethren towards him in his earnest endeavours to do his duty showed him that those endeavours had been appreciated . He felt delighted at the encouragement he had ahvays received at their hands . It had been his fortune to have good candidates , no less than 14 of whom he had had the pleasure of initiating into Masonry within that lodge ,

and that night , for the sixth time , he had had to work the three Degrees in succession . During the year they had admitted two brethren as joining members , and had then 110 good financial members upon the books of the lodge as against 95 last year , a status unprecedented in its annals . That showed the excellent position of the lodge , and its increased and increasing success . For that success he took

no credit to himself ; but must say that he had been so well supported by the Past Masters , and also by the united aid of the oflicers and the lodge generally , that to that support he attributed the success that had attended the lodge , and not to any merit of his own . It was most encouraging , and he would ask what VV . M . could help being successful if he were encouraged and supported as he had been ? During his Mastership he had endeavoured to maintain unsullied

the dignity of his position , and , at the same time , to afford every opportunity to the brethren to enjoy the social board in harmony , and if at the end of his year they found that he had justified their choice , then he should retire with the full conviction that his efforts had not been in vain , and should ever remember with pride and gratitude the many kindnesses he had received at the hands of every member of the lodge . He then resumed his seat amid a storm of

cheers . . Bro . Richardson , in responding to a warm welcome of his name as VV . M . elect , said he hardly knew what his position really was at that moment , and trusted the time he should be in it would be so short that he should never know . He was , however , pleased to know that he had their hearty sympathy and support , and , as the youngest Mason and to the of of

man who had ever been elected position VV . M . the Pattison Lodge—one of the foremost lodges in the P . ovince of Kent—he felt deeply the responsibility of his position . He felt also that he had the whole body of the lodge at his back , and knew that if he went too fast the P . M . ' s would put the curb on ; nevertheless he looked forward with hope that the coming year would not be the least successful

and harmonious in the annals of the lodge . With reference to the proposed temple , he was convinced that the scheme would be carried on with vigour , and that it would assume the shape of bricks and mortar before the end of his year of office . He concluded an excellent address by assuring the brethren that he should endeavour to carry out the duties entrusted to him with credit to the lodge , and thanked them cordially for their hearty reception of the

toast . The other toasts were "The Visitors , " "The Past Masters , " " The Initiate , " " The Officers , " and the Tyler ' s toast concluded the proceedings .

coerse , to a certain extent perishable and subject to decay , but would last for a good many years to come , and I hope it will be used with the " Loving Cup " at the initiation of many good and true men who might come forward to join our lodge , and I trust it may in some measure tend to increase the happiness and harmony which now exists amongst us .

Bro . Alfred Greenham , W . M ., then rose and said : Brethren , it gives me very much pleasure to propose that the best thanks of the lodge be given to Bro . F . Rayner for his gift . This napkin is quite a work of art , the name and number of our lodge being worked on both sides of it , together with the working

tools of a Mason . I trust , brethren , we shall have frequent opportunities of using it , and welcoming many initiates into our lodge . It will last as long , I am sure , as any of us can hope to live by the will cf T . G . A . O . T .
