That they respectfully beg to tender their fraternal congratulations to his Royal Highness and to their Danish brethren in general ; and that Bro . Simons-en , Local Secretary to the lodge in Denmark , be charged to communicate the above resolutions . " The Secretary called attention to the following articles exhiaited by Bro . A . C A . Houston , a Governor of Georgia in colonial times , and a Past Grand

Master of the Grand Lodge of Georgia , by the said Grand Lodge . The apron had also been worn by Bro . Houston , and the articles are now in the possesion of B . o . Colonel Molyneux , W . M . 2437 , who is a grandson of the old Governor . Bro . John Line read a most valuable paper , entitled , "' The Early Lodges of Freemasons , their Constitution and Warrants , 1717-17 C 0 , " in which he traced the manner of legalising lodjes , from the date of the revival up tothe time when warrants of constitutions similar to our present ones came into use . The matter was so interestingly dealt with and practically

tabulated for future use and reference , as to merit the warmly expressed acknowledgments of every brother who spoke in the succeeding discussion . To this c-attributions were made by Bros . H . le Strange , E . Conder , jun ., G . VV . Speth , W . II . Rylanls , W . J . Hughan , and J . R . Riley . Bro . Lane responded , replying to several criticisms , which , however , referred to subsidiary points , and no : to the mam lines of his piper , and subsequently also acknowledged the hearty vote of thank * which was ac : orJeil him . The brethren then adjourned to the Holborn Ristaurant fo : dinner .

The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed , the W . M ., Bro . G . S . Miller , initiated Mr . Percy Gray , and his working of the ritual wascxcelle . it . i'he Auditors' report of the Lodge and Benevolent Funds having been received and adopted , Bro . Wm . Close Smith , the W . Miller in such an able and praiseworthy manner that it elicited the hearty commendations of all the brethren .

Other business followed , after which thc lodge was closed , and the large uonipauj partook of a sumptuous banquet . The W . M . gave the usual loyal and Masoaic toasts , which were cordially received . In responding for "The Grand Officers , Present and Past , " Bro . Clowes , whu . t name was associated with thc toast , stated that it was gratifying to the Grand O . licci . ' to know that they were always received in as kind and hearty a manner as he bid bean that evening . The I . P . M . was a very good fellow , and he vvas sorry that he had missed seeing him instal his successor . He congratulated the W . M ., and remarked that tin lodge was favoured in hiving so excellent a ruler .

Bro . G . S . Miller , LP . M ., pioposed the " Health of the Worshipful Master . " IL said lhat it was a great honour to propose the toast , which was the greatest that could be given that evening . Hc and the VV . M . werc initiated at the same time , but by an accident bis name came first , and he was glad to have the pleasure of installing himlie had not the slightest doubt that he would make a splendid Master and ksep trw lodge to the front . He had done great things for the Charities , and he felt that ii ' would continue his efforts in that direction .

Bro . VV . C . Smith , VV . M ., on rising to respond , had quite an ovation . He said that he could not agree with the 1 . P . M . that the toast of the W . M . was the one of ihe evening , but the next one , that of the I . P . M ., was , he considered , the most important-He would do his very utmost for the lodge ( and that could not be too much ) , and endeavour to keep up its great reputation . In earnest terms he urged the members iu attend the lodge of instruction connected with the lodge , where he had obtained all lu *> Masonic knowledge , and as the principal ollicers of the lodge of instruction were members of the lodge , they would be only too anxious to give every instruction , hi conclusion , he paid a tribute to Bro . Walter Martin , P . M ., their able Preceptor , for hi * valuable services in the lodge of instruction .

The W . M . gave "The Immediate Past and Installing Master , Bro . G . S . Miller , observing that it was , as he had before stated , the toast . At the night of his initiation he was side by side with the LP . M ., and he was still by his side . They all knew hij great worth , and hc bad had a brilliant year of ollice . It was now his pleasure and honour , on behalf of the lodge , to present him with a Past Master ' s jewel , and he did not think he could receive any jewel in the Craft which he would prize more than thai lor his services as VV . M . of the Chough Lodge , his mother lodge , and he hoped no would be spared for very many years to lie with them . The inscription on the jewel was— " Presented to ltro . G . S . Miller in consideration of his valuable services as VV . M . "

The toast was received with enthusiasm , and Bro . Miller , I . P . M ., in response , said that it was wilh feelings of pride lie ie ^ turned his sincere thanks for the many things be hail received at their bands , one beia ;* lhe honour of having been sent to represent the lodge as Steward for the Boys , ¦' . ' ¦ * " ' " the lodge wus third on the list . He wa . s proud to hear that his services . "j" * appreciated . lie was the lirst initiate of the lodge , and the lirst initiate to read tinchair , and all the members present , with the exception of thc Past Masteis , had a "" through his hands in some way . lie honoured the jewel , and it would be a pleas "" - ' ' * him to continue tu do everything in his power to add , if he could , to the prosperity a" > happiness of th--lodge in every way .

in submitting the toast ol " The Initiate , " the VVorshipful Master stated that fr "" what they had heard from his introducers lie would make a good Mason in every risi > p ' but if he would only follow in tlie footsteps of his proposer—an eminent Maion- *" would have a brilliant career bsloru him , and , if lie did that , he would ever bless day he joined Masonry .

That they respectfully beg to tender their fraternal congratulations to his Royal Highness and to their Danish brethren in general ; and that Bro .

R . Riley . Bro . Other business followed , after which thc lodge was closed , and the large uonipauj partook of a sumptuous banquet . The W . M . gave the usual loyal and Masoaic toasts , which were cordially received . In responding for "The Grand Officers , Present and Past , " Bro . Bro . G .

He wa . s proud to hear that his services . in submitting the toast ol " The Initiate , " the VVorshipful Master stated that fr "" what they had heard from his introducers lie would make a good Mason in every risi > p ' but if he would only follow in tlie footsteps of his proposer—an eminent Maion- *" would have a brilliant career bsloru him , and , if lie did that , he would ever bless day he joined Masonry .
