The newly organised Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of New Brunswick was recognised by the Grand Chapter of Massachusetts on its Quarterly Convocation on the 20 th September last . Bro . Edward Leader Shepherd , P . M . 945 , P . P . G . S . B . Berks and Bucks , has been elected Mayor of Abingdon .
Bro . Earl Granville addressed a political meeting which was held at Hanley on Monday evening , and over which Bro . Lord Burton presided . The offertories collected in Truro Cathedral on the 3 rd inst . at its consecration amounted to £ 1736 3 s . 1 id ., those on the occasion of the foundation stone being laid , on the 20 th May , 1 SS 0 , having been close on £ 1592 .
The Grand Lodge of Vermont has voted the sum of 100 dollars ( £ 20 ) towards the monument proposed to be erected at Milton , Vt ., to the memory of Bro . Noah Smith , whose remains lie buried there , and who was the first Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Vermont . We regret to hear that a burglary was committed at the residence of Bro . Baron G . Uc Worms , Milton
Park , Egham , on I uesday night , when jewellery belonging to the Baroness and of the estimated value of i ' 900 was carried off . As yet no trace of the burglars or of the stolen property has been obtained . Prince Albert Victor of Wales has joined the gth Lancers at York , and has been posted as Captain of the B Troop at the York Cavalry Barracks . gave a musical and ventnloquial entertainment to the inmates of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , Bro . Laj ton has given several other entertainments during the past few weeks , at which several hundreds of the resiaents of the districts have been entertained . Through the instrumentality of Bro . Dr . C . D . Hill-Drury the banqueting room of the Darlington Masonic Hall has just been thoroughly renovated and tastefully decorated . The cost of the work has amounted to about , f . ' S 5 , and our Danington brethren may now be congiatulated upon possessing one of the handsomest
lodge rooms and banqueting halls in the north of England . At the last monthly meetings of the Restoration and Marquess of Ripon Lodges votes of thanks were most deservedly passed to Bro . Dr . Hill-Diury , who had collected the subscriptions for the improvements and superintended the work .

The Canadian Craftsman is of opinion that the marvellous progress of Freemasonry under the United Grand Lodge of England is due to the establishment of Provincial Grand Lodges , and considers it would be a judicious step on the part of the Giand Lodge of Canada if it adopted a similar plan of local organisation .

Through the instrumentality of Bro . Dr . C . D . Hill-Drury the banqueting room of the Darlington Masonic Hall has just been thoroughly renovated and tastefully decorated . The cost of the work has amounted to about , f . ' S 5 , and our Danington brethren may now be congiatulated upon possessing one of the handsomest
lodge rooms and banqueting halls in the north of England . At the last monthly meetings of the Restoration and Marquess of Ripon Lodges votes of thanks were most deservedly passed to Bro . Dr . Hill-Diury , who had collected the subscriptions for the improvements and superintended the work .
A veiy great yet well-deserved compliment was made at the last meeting of the Hartinglon Lodge , No . 1021 , Barrow-in-Furntss , to Bro . Morphet , who is leaving England to establish himself with his wife and family in Meloourne . Bro . Morphet , who has been a member of the lodge for upwards of 22 years , and will retain his
connection with it still , was presented on the occasion with an address beautifully engraved and illuminated on vellum , together with a handsomely bound album containing memorial photographs of his brother members , and also a gold locket and chain lor Mrs .
