Masonic abilities are so well known in the province that it would be superfluous on this occasion to dilate upon them , suffice it to say that the impressive , and beautiful " work " of installation was skilfully performed . The third address was ably delivered by W . Bro . Elsam . The officers invested for the year were Bros . Piller , S . W . ; Walls , J . W . ; Hurst , I . P . M ., and Treas . ;

The banquet was held at the Clarence Hotel , and was capitally served . Upon the removal of the cloth , the " Queen and Craft "

was duly proposed and honoured , and the "National Anthem" sung . "The Health of the M . W . G . M ., the M . W . P . G . M ., the D . G . M ., and the rest of the Grand Officers , " having been given , and heartily received , the W . M . proposed in very flattering terms the toast of " The R . W . P . G . M . " Bro . Colonel Burdett , in reply , briefly said it had afforded him a great deal of gratification in being present

that evening . He was pleased to see that , notwithstanding the lodge had been established only a year , it was in so flourishing a condition . The " work " had been carefully performed all round , and he fully endorsed the vote of thanks that had been passed that afternoon to Bro . Baldwin for his kindness in officiating as Installing Officer . He then went on to speak of the progress of Freemasonry

in Middlesex , and how well the ceremonies and various other vital points in connection with the Order were carried nut in the province . As the Provincial Grand Master , this state of things was exceedingly giatifying to him , and he firmly believed that the working of the numerous lodges in the district , of which he had the honour of presiding , was thoroughly done , and could not be surpassed

elsewhere . In conclusion , he called the attention of the town members of the Sir Charles Blight Lodge to thc urgent necessity of their attending regularly a lodge of instruction , in order to qualify themselves for the high duties that they would in due course be called upon to perform . " The R . W . D . P . G . M . and the P . G . Officers " followed , and was tersely acknowledged by W . Bro . Baldwin .

In Lis remarks he alluded to the misfortune that had prevented Bro . Sir Charles Bright—namely , the indisposition of his brother—from attending on that most auspicious occasion . The toast of " The W . M . " was given in very felicitous language by the I . P . M ., and having been received with excellent " fire , " Bro . Forge briefly said that he appreciated most highly the great honour the members had

done him by electing him as their Master . He was but a very young Mason , but he would strive to perform his Masonic duties , and he trusted that at the termination of his year of office he should leave the chair as creditably and honourably as his predecessor had done . ( Hear , hear . ) " The I . P . M . " came next in order . Bro . Hurst , in acknowledging this toast and the handsome jewel that

accompanied it , said that throughout his Masonic career he had endeavoured conscientiously to act up to the principles of the Order and to discharge any duty that devolved upon him to the best of his ability . He thanked them all , especially the officers , for the kindness and attention bestowed upon him during his tenure of office . In concluding his remarks he expressed his personal obligations to

the R . W . P . G . M . for the interest he had evinced in the progress of thtir little Masonic venture , and which distinguishing mark of Bro . Col . Burdctt ' s approval he hoped would be long continued . In speaking of the jewel presented to him on that occasion , he said that he should treasure it " until time with him should be no more . " The toast of "The Installing Officers" followed , and was responded to

their minds to support him in his endeavours to make the lodge as famous for its charities as they had under Bro . Manning , who , as Steward , took up nearly £ 80 ; he should be proud of them , for he ( Bro . Turner ) intended to stand Steward for next year . He trusted they would support the W . won . It was a pesition that any one might feel proud to occupy . He trusted that their esteemed brother , Dr . Vance , would have a good year of office , and sustain the honour and integrity of the chair of the Henley Lodge as his predecessors had , he trusted , endeavoured to do in the past . Masonic abilities are so well known in the province that it would be superfluous on this occasion to dilate upon them , suffice it to say that the impressive , and beautiful " work " of installation was skilfully performed .
