usual loyal and Royal Arch toasls were given from the chair ; the first of course being that of " Her Most Gracious Majesty the Queen , " patroness of our Order , who , the M . E . Z . said continued to be beloved by the millions of her subjects but by none more so than b y Royal Arch Masons ; and it was a matter for unbounded thankfulness that the Supreme Ruler of the Universe had protected her from the hand of the assassin . , and the Officers of P . G . Chapter Present and I'ast , " and said he felt sure that in Viscount Ebrington they had one who took a very deep interest in Masonry , and trusted that his rule might be long and happy . Ex . Comp . Watson , G . D . C , responded , stating that he endorsed what the M . E . Z . had said , and thanked the companions for the kind manner in which they had received the toast .

The next toast was that of " The M . E . Z . c . t . John ' s Chapter , No . 32 S , " which the I . P . Z ., Ex . Comp , luillwood , said , in giving it , was the toast of the evening . It gave him great pleasure to propose it , and ha was qnte sure the chapter would lose none of its lusture by hr . v-ng such a worthy companion as its First Princi pal . He w ? . ssure the companions one and all wished him a happy year of office . 'The M . E . Z .. in resnonrlincr . snirl - I i-li ? .., ! . ,. « .. 1 ? ..

Comp . My Masonic career has been a very happv one . Durinr /

my Mastership in the Craft lodge I had not an angry word or unpleasant feeling , and I trust it will be the same in the chapter during my year of office . Ex . Comp . Harland then gave "The I . P . Z ., Ex . Comp . B . Fullwood , " who , he said , had travelled many hundreds of miles in order to be present at the meetings of the chapter , thus showing that his zeal for Masonry must be

very grear . Ex . Comp . B . Fullwood replied , stating that when he visited the various London chapters he was always proud to represent the St . John ' s Chapter . "The Past Z . ' s of the Chapter" was duly given , and responded to by all the P . Z . ' s present .

lhe M . E . Z . next gave " The Officers , " and said he regretted the absence of the S . N ., who was unavoidably prevented from attending , but whose heart was with us , and remarked that in the S . E . we have one who had always done his duty , both in the lodge and in the chapter ; the same might be said of the others . He felt proud at having such able officers to assist him .

Comp . Blarney , S . E ., said he felt the honour and also the responsibility of the office he had undertaken , and although the ceremonial work was not great , yet he was convinced that the office of S . E . was no sinecure ; and then having the extra duties of D . C , in addition , he felt sure the companions were determined he should not be idle . They knew how much he liked Masonry , and all that pertains to it :

and he could say that the more he worked in Masonry the better he liked it ; and he thought , considering the purity of its teachings , that our moral nature must be improved in proportion as we dived into its mj-steries and drank in its spirit . By so doing we should be happier ourselves , and should be better enabled to promote the happiness of others .

Comp . Knight , P . S ., said he fully concurred in what his predecessor had said , and to that end would endeavour to discharge the important duties ef P . S . by unfolding the mysteries connected therewith . Comp . Lane , 1 st A . S ., said he felt it to be his duty also to assist to his utmost in carrying out the glorious work spoken of . Comp . Taylor , Treas ., expressed his thankfulness for associating his name with the toastand for the kind

re-, marks of the M . E . Z . in reference to his late duties as S . E ., and although he could go no further at present , trusted that at some future time he should be able to advance nearer the keystone . "The Exaltee" was next given , and Comp . Garcia , in replying , said that although he had been a Mason but little more than a year , yet he had seen sufficient of it to make

him very fond of it , his only regret was that he had not become a Mason earlier . He was very much impressed with the ceremony of exaltation , and appreciated the kindness shown by the brethren and companions very much , and trusted to be amongst them for some years to work in the cause of Masonry . Other toasts followed , and the companions separated at at an early hour in love and harmony .

usual loyal and Royal Arch toasls were given from the chair ; the first of course being that of " Her Most Gracious Majesty the Queen , " patroness of our Order , who , the M . E . Z . said continued to be beloved by the millions of her subjects but by none more so than b y Royal Arch Masons ; and it was a matter for unbounded thankfulness that the Supreme Ruler of the Universe had protected her from the hand of the assassin . Z . then gave the toast of "M . E . Comp . Viscount Ebrimrton . Grand Suncrmtcnrlpnt of ? ' ¦« Pr ^„; m ^ .

, and the Officers of P .

Comp . Fullwood , for the kind terms in which you have proposed the toast , and yon , companions , for the cordial manner in which you have received it . 1 esteem the honour very much indeed , and will do my best to carry out the duties incumbent on me .
