The Quarterly General Court of the Governors and Subscribers of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girlswas held at Freemasons' Hall on Thursday , the 11 th instant , under the presidency of Bro . A . C . Spaull , P . G . Std . Br ., whose motion for the suspension of 'the

laws relating to elections , in the case of Kate W . P . Williams , whose father had died from an injury received while on active service in South Africa , was adopted , and the Girl was declared duly elected , subject , of course , to the regulations affecting Girls

after election . On the recommendation of the House Committee Bro . A . W . Orwin , P . A . G . D . ol C , Vice-Patron , was appointed Honorary Throat and liar Physician lo the Institution . A list of 2 ( 1 candidates for the election on ioth October next was approved , and 16 vacancies to be then Tilled up were declared .

the necessary 1550 guineas with which to purchase a Perpetual Presentation to the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution as a memorial of the great services rendered to the Province of East Lancashire and its pet Institution by the late Bro . Col . Le Gendre N . Starkie , who for so many years was at its head in Craft and Royal Arch Masonry , who founded and

generously supported its local Charity , and who , more than 20 yearsago , presided as Chairman at the Festival of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution . The gift of these amounts could not hive been more conveniently timed , as the three tail in one and the same year , and the three Central Charities are benefited about the same time and to an equal extent .

* * The Committee of Management of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution held their meeting for this month at Freemasons' flail on Wednesday afternoon , under the presidency of Bro . J . A . Farnfield ,

P . A . G . D . C , the Treasurer of the Institution . The Secretary reported the deaths of three Male and three Widow Annuitants as well as two accepted Candidates ( one man and one widow ) . The report of the Finance Committee was submitted , adopted , and ordered to be entered on the minutes .

• • • On Thursday the usual summer entertainment to the inmates of the Institution at Croydon took place there being , as is invariably the case , a goodly number of visitors , including the Treasurer ( Bro . J . A . Farnfield ) , members of the Committee , with Bro . lames Terry , the Secretary , while a number of ladies , among

whom were Mrs . and Miss Terry , graced the meeting with their presence . An excellent entertainment had been arranged in the afternoon in the grounds and in the Hall for the evening , and was thoroughly appreciated by the Old People and the visitors . Everything , it is hardly necessary to say , pissed off most successfully .

The annual meeting of the Provincial Grand Lod ge of North and East Yorkshire will be held , at the invitation of the local lodges , in the Grand Hall , The Spa , Scarborough , on Friday , the 26 th instant , at 3 p . m . The business will be of the usual character , and will include the appointment and investiture of the

Prov . Grand Officers for the ensuing year . After the Prov . Grand Lodge has been closed , the brethren will dine together at the Grand Hotel , at 5 p . m ., tickets , at 5 s . each , to be obtained of Bro . Chas . Travers , Masonic Club , Scarborough , on or before Tuesday the 23 rd instant .
