The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed , the ballot was taken for Mr . H . Martin and Mr . W . H . Tacon , both of whom were unanimously elected . The VV . M . read a letter from Mr . Tacon , regretting his inability to attend

that evening through pressure of business . Mr . Ellis Ashmead Bartlett , M . P . for Eye ( who had been elected at a previous meeting of the lodge ) , and Mr . H . Martin were then initiated into the mysteries of the Craft , the ceremony being performed by Bro . VV . Daking , P . M . 225 and 1663 , P . P . G . Reg . Suffolk , assisted by Bro . A . Cannon , P . M . 376 , and Bro . John Flatman , VV . M . 1741 . Lodge was then

closed with the usual expressions of " Hearty good wishes , " and the brethren then retired to the banquet room , and partook of a very excellent dinner , under the presidency of the VV . M ., who , after the cloth was removed , gave the usual loyal and Masonic toasts , " The Oueen and the Craft . " Next came " The Health of H . R . H . the Prince of Wales ,

Grand Master of England . " This toast was received with great Masonic applause . In rising to propose "The Health of the Earl of Carnarvon , Pro G . M . ; the Earl of Lathom , Dep . G . M . '; and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past , " the W . M . touched upon the honour Lord Henniker , one of the Past Grand Lodge Officers of England , had conferred on

them that evening by attending the lodge and taking part in the proceedings . They all knew he was the father of the lodge , and took great interest in the welfare of its members . " The Health of the Prov . Grand Master of Suffolk , Lord Waveney ; the Deputy Grand Master of Suffolk , Rev . C , J . Martyn ; and the rest of the Prov . Grand Officers ,

Present and Past , " was received in the usual manner , and duly responded to by Bros . Fra . Woolnough , P . M ., and Wm . Daking , P . M . "The Health of the VV . M . " was given by Bro . H . VV . Cullum , S . W ., in very kind and flattering terms . The W . M . gave " The Health of the ' Newly Initiates , " expressing the great pleasure it gave him to receive Bro .

Ellis Ashmead Bartlett among them , also Bro . H . Martin , who responded in appropriate terms , expressing their great delight and surprise at the beautiful ceremony , which had been so impressively conducted , and thanked the brethren for giving them such a kind and hearty reception . The toast of the evening followed in very appropriate terms from Bro . F . Woolnough , P . M ., who proposed " The

Visitors , " and called on Bro . John Hunt , S . D . 37 6 , to re-» spond for the Ipswich party , and Bro . F . J . Burrage for the Diss party . Bros . Hunt and Burrage responded , expressing their great pleasure at the very excellent working of the lodge . The VV . M . proposed " The Officers of the Lodge , " calling on Bro . H . VV . Cullum , S . W ., to respond , which he did

in splendid style , expressing the pleasure it gave the officers to work under such an excellent W . M . as Bro . Henry J . Barnes . Bro . C . Fisher gave " The Health of Bro . Daking , " who had worked the initiations that evening , also Bros . Cannon and Flatman , who had assisted . Bro . Cannon , in reply , stated that Bro . Daking initiated

him into Freemasonry many years since , and nothing gave him more pleasure than to come down to Eye and assist in the great work of making " great and good men Masons . " The Tyler ' s toast brought a very successful meeting to an end , which had been much enlivened by some very

beautiful songs well rendered by Bros . D . D . Steele , 959 ; Phillips , Ship , and Martin , 1663 . Bro . C . Coolie presided at the piano , and the thanks of the W . M . and members of the lodge were tendered these brethren for their very able services . Bro . Sidney Bishop presided at the organ in the lodge , and added much to the impressive ceremony .

LIVERPOOL . —Kirkdale Lodge ( No . 1756 ) . — The annual installation meeting of the members of this lodge took place on Wednesday , the 26 th ult ., at the Skelmersdale Masonic Hall , where there was an attendance of about 130 brethren , comprising upwards of 30 Prov . G . Officers ( Present and Past ) , W . M . ' s , and P . M . ' s . The present proud position of this spiritedly conducted lodge is

largely owing to the enthusiasm of those brethren who have been closely identified with it from the commencement , and the great amount of truly charitable work accomplished through its instrumentality during the past year does all concerned infinite credit , and suggests toothers thejprecept " Go and do likewise . " The chair at the commencement of the proceedings was

M ., and subsequently proclaimed to and saluted by the M . Ms , on their re-admission to the lodge . The working tools in the several Degrees were presented to the W . M . by Bro . was exceptionally well done and was a pleasure to witness , there being no undue haste , each brother performing the part allotted him with care and correctness . After " Hearty good wishes " had been expressed the lodge was closed in peace and harmony , and the brethren repaired to the dining room to celebrate the festival of St . John . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured , and the I . P . M ., Bro . Charles Oldham , was presented with a

handsome Past Master s gold jewel , manufactured by Bro . George Kenning . The toast of " The Masonic Charities , " was ably treated by Bro . S . Statham , P . M ., P . P . G . T ., and responded to in an exhaustive speech by Bro . Wm . Hardcastle , P . M . Some capital glees and songs were sung during the evening by Bros . Dale , Moffatt , and Harrop , and a very pleasant evening was spent .

ST . GEORGE'S LODGE ( No . 140 ) . —A meeting of this lodge was held on thegth inst . at the New Cross Hall , Lewisham High-road , when there were present Bros . Forsyth , W . M . ; Rogers , S . W . ; Burton , J . W . ; Brown , Preceptor ; Richardson , Sec ; Cash , S . D . ; Shepherd , J . D . ; Smith , I . G . ; Johnson , P . M . ; and Nuding . The lodge was opened , and the minutes of previous

meeting were read and confirmed . Bro . Sturdee having been passed to the degree of Fellow Craft , the W . M . then rehearsed part of the ceremony of installation , and announced that the whole of the ceremony would be worked on the following meeting night , and Bro . Rogers was then unanimously elected to occupy the chair at the next meeting , and the lodge was closed .

FAITH LODGE ( No . 141 ) . —The weekly meeting of this lodge was held on Tuesday , the 2 nd inst ., when there were present Bros . March , VV . M . ; Mount , S . W . ; Masefield , J . W . ; Bassington , Treas . ; Cross , See ; Lovegrove , S . D . ; Swain , J . D . ; Wilton , I . G . ; Stroud , Cobham , and Weeks . Lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of

previous meeting were read and confirmed . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Stroud being the candidate . After the ceremony , Bro . Lovegrove gave the charge very impressively . Bro . Bassington was afterwards duly raised , and the S . W . was unanimously elected as W . M . at the next meeting , and appointed his officers in rotation .

It was proposed , seconded , and carried "nem . con . " that the Secretary write a letter of condolence to Bro . Cottebrune , the Preceptor , on the sad bereavement he has sustained , and that the letter be entered on the minutes . The lodge was then closed . A meeting of the Masonic Charities Association was then held , and the ballot fell to Bro . W . H . Wilton .

PRINCE FREDERICK WILLIAM LODGE ( No . 753 ) . —A meeting was held on Tuesday evening , * the 9 th inst ., at the Eagle Tavern , Clifton-road , Maida Hill , when there were present Bros . The lodge being opened in due form , and minutes of the previous meeting confirmed , the ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Gibson being the candidate . Bro . Hiel was afterwards passed to the degree of Fellow Craft . Bro . Folson worked the First Section of the Lecture , assisted

by the brethren . Bro . Kettlewhite , 1841 , was elected a member , and after the S . W . had been elected W . M . for the ensuing week , a vote of thanks was unanimously recorded to the W . M . for the very able manner he had performed the duties of the chair for the first time . The lodge was then closed in due form and perfect harmony .

COVENT GARDEN LODGE ( No . 1614 ) . — The usual weekly meeting was held at the Bedford Head Hotel , Maiden-lane , Covent Garden , W . C , on the 27 th ult ., when there were present Bros . J . The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . Bro . Fowles worked the 2 nd Section of this Lecture . Bro . Ingram offering himself as a candidate for initiation , the W . M . was pleased to work the ceremony . Bro . T . A . Dickson having offered himself as a candidate to be passed to the Second Degree , the usual questions were put and well answered .

The VV . M . rehearsed the Degree of F . C . Bro . Sillico , 15 S 6 , was unanimously elected a joining member , being proposed by Bro . G . Reynolds , Preceptor , and seconded by Bro . Mullin . Bro . G . Coleman was elected W . M ' . for the ensuing week , and appointed his officers in rotation . Bro . G . Reynolds , Secretary , proposed that the ceremony of installation be rehearsed in this lodge of instruction on

Thursday evening , the Sth prox ., and that Bro . G . Coleman , the W . M . of the mother lodge , be asked to take the chair on that occasion . Seconded by Bro . Fowles , and carried unanimously . Bro . G . Coleman , S . W ., in | reply , said it would afford him great pleasure to occupy the chair on that evening , and thanked the brethren heartily for the

honour they had conferred on him . Bro . G . Reynolds , Secretary , then asked the brethren for a vote of thanks to Bro . Fowles , to be recorded on the minutes , for his kindness in acting as Preceptor , which was carried unanimously , and the lodge was close in ancient form with peace and harmony .

UBIQUE LODGE ( No . 1789 ) . —A meeting was held on Friday , the 5 th inst ., at the Crown and Anchor , 79 , Ebury-street . Present : Bros . Brindley , W . M . ; Wade , P . M ., S . W . ; Glover , J . W . ; Boulton , P . M ., Preceptor ; P . Coughlan , See ; Hiel , S . D . ; Gibson , Treas ., J . D . ; McCullagh , I . G . ; Green , jun ., Bunce , Curtis , and Edwards .

The lodge was opened in due form and the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Green candidate . Bros . Bunce and Edwards were candidates to be passed to the Second Degree , and having answered the usual questions were entrusted . that evening through pressure of business . Mr . Ellis Ashmead Bartlett , M . P . for Eye ( who had been elected at a previous meeting of the lodge ) , and Mr . H . Martin were then initiated into the mysteries of the Craft , the ceremony being performed by Bro . VV . Daking , P . M . 225 and 1663 , P . P . G . Reg . Suffolk , assisted by Bro . A . Cannon , P . M . 376 , and Bro . John Flatman , VV . M . 1741 . Lodge was then

closed with the usual expressions of " Hearty good wishes , " and the brethren then retired to the banquet room , and partook of a very excellent dinner , under the presidency of the VV . M ., who , after the cloth was removed , gave the usual loyal and Masonic toasts , " The Oueen and the Craft . " Next came " The Health of H . R . H . the Prince of Wales ,

Grand Master of England . " This toast was received with great Masonic applause . In rising to propose "The Health of the Earl of Carnarvon , Pro G . M . ; the Earl of Lathom , Dep . G . M . '; and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past , " the W . M . touched upon the honour Lord Henniker , one of the Past Grand Lodge Officers of England , had conferred on

them that evening by attending the lodge and taking part in the proceedings . They all knew he was the father of the lodge , and took great interest in the welfare of its members . " The Health of the Prov . Grand Master of Suffolk , Lord Waveney ; the Deputy Grand Master of Suffolk , Rev . C , J . Martyn ; and the rest of the Prov . Grand Officers ,

Present and Past , " was received in the usual manner , and duly responded to by Bros . Fra . Woolnough , P . M ., and Wm . Daking , P . M . "The Health of the VV . M . " was given by Bro . H . VV . Cullum , S . W ., in very kind and flattering terms . The W . M . gave " The Health of the ' Newly Initiates , " expressing the great pleasure it gave him to receive Bro .

Ellis Ashmead Bartlett among them , also Bro . H . Martin , who responded in appropriate terms , expressing their great delight and surprise at the beautiful ceremony , which had been so impressively conducted , and thanked the brethren for giving them such a kind and hearty reception . The toast of the evening followed in very appropriate terms from Bro . F . Woolnough , P . M ., who proposed " The

Visitors , " and called on Bro . John Hunt , S . D . 37 6 , to re-» spond for the Ipswich party , and Bro . F . J . Burrage for the Diss party . Bros . Hunt and Burrage responded , expressing their great pleasure at the very excellent working of the lodge . The VV . M . proposed " The Officers of the Lodge , " calling on Bro . H . VV . Cullum , S . W ., to respond , which he did

in splendid style , expressing the pleasure it gave the officers to work under such an excellent W . M . as Bro . Henry J . Barnes . Bro . C . Fisher gave " The Health of Bro . Daking , " who had worked the initiations that evening , also Bros . Cannon and Flatman , who had assisted . Bro . Cannon , in reply , stated that Bro . Daking initiated

him into Freemasonry many years since , and nothing gave him more pleasure than to come down to Eye and assist in the great work of making " great and good men Masons . " The Tyler ' s toast brought a very successful meeting to an end , which had been much enlivened by some very

beautiful songs well rendered by Bros . D . D . Steele , 959 ; Phillips , Ship , and Martin , 1663 . Bro . C . Coolie presided at the piano , and the thanks of the W . M . and members of the lodge were tendered these brethren for their very able services . Bro . Sidney Bishop presided at the organ in the lodge , and added much to the impressive ceremony .

LIVERPOOL . —Kirkdale Lodge ( No . 1756 ) . — The annual installation meeting of the members of this lodge took place on Wednesday , the 26 th ult ., at the Skelmersdale Masonic Hall , where there was an attendance of about 130 brethren , comprising upwards of 30 Prov . G . Officers ( Present and Past ) , W . M . ' s , and P . M . ' s . The present proud position of this spiritedly conducted lodge is

largely owing to the enthusiasm of those brethren who have been closely identified with it from the commencement , and the great amount of truly charitable work accomplished through its instrumentality during the past year does all concerned infinite credit , and suggests toothers thejprecept " Go and do likewise . was exceptionally well done and was a pleasure to witness , there being no undue haste , each brother performing the part allotted him with care and correctness . After " Hearty good wishes " had been expressed the lodge was closed in peace and harmony , and the brethren repaired to the dining room to celebrate the festival of St . John . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured , and the I . P . M ., Bro . Charles Oldham , was presented with a

handsome Past Master s gold jewel , manufactured by Bro . George Kenning . The toast of " The Masonic Charities , " was ably treated by Bro . S . Statham , P . M ., P . P . G . T ., and responded to in an exhaustive speech by Bro . Wm . Hardcastle , P . M . Some capital glees and songs were sung during the evening by Bros . Dale , Moffatt , and Harrop , and a very pleasant evening was spent .

The lodge was opened , and the minutes of previous

meeting were read and confirmed . Bro . Sturdee having been passed to the degree of Fellow Craft , the W . M . then rehearsed part of the ceremony of installation , and announced that the whole of the ceremony would be worked on the following meeting night , and Bro . Rogers was then unanimously elected to occupy the chair at the next meeting , and the lodge was closed .

FAITH LODGE ( No . 141 ) . —The weekly meeting of this lodge was held on Tuesday , the 2 nd inst ., when there were present Bros . March , VV . M . ; Mount , S . W . ; Masefield , J . W . ; Bassington , Treas . ; Cross , See ; Lovegrove , S . D . ; Swain , J . D . ; Wilton , I . G . ; Stroud , Cobham , and Weeks . Lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of

previous meeting were read and confirmed . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Stroud being the candidate . After the ceremony , Bro . Lovegrove gave the charge very impressively . Bro . Bassington was afterwards duly raised , and the S . W . was unanimously elected as W . M . at the next meeting , and appointed his officers in rotation .

It was proposed , seconded , and carried "nem . con . " that the Secretary write a letter of condolence to Bro . Cottebrune , the Preceptor , on the sad bereavement he has sustained , and that the letter be entered on the minutes . The lodge was then closed . A meeting of the Masonic Charities Association was then held , and the ballot fell to Bro . W . H . Wilton .

The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . Bro . Fowles worked the 2 nd Section of this Lecture . Bro . Ingram offering himself as a candidate for initiation , the W . M . was pleased to work the ceremony . Bro . T . A . Dickson having offered himself as a candidate to be passed to the Second Degree , the usual questions were put and well answered .

The VV . M . rehearsed the Degree of F . C . Bro . Sillico , 15 S 6 , was unanimously elected a joining member , being proposed by Bro . G . Reynolds , Preceptor , and seconded by Bro . Mullin . Bro . G . Coleman was elected W . M ' . for the ensuing week , and appointed his officers in rotation . Bro . G . Reynolds , Secretary , proposed that the ceremony of installation be rehearsed in this lodge of instruction on

Thursday evening , the Sth prox ., and that Bro . G . Coleman , the W . M . of the mother lodge , be asked to take the chair on that occasion . Seconded by Bro . Fowles , and carried unanimously . Bro . G . Coleman , S . W ., in | reply , said it would afford him great pleasure to occupy the chair on that evening , and thanked the brethren heartily for the

honour they had conferred on him . Bro . G . Reynolds , Secretary , then asked the brethren for a vote of thanks to Bro . Fowles , to be recorded on the minutes , for his kindness in acting as Preceptor , which was carried unanimously , and the lodge was close in ancient form with peace and harmony .
