LEEDS . —Fidelity Lodge ( No . 289 ) . —On the 4 th inst ., this lodge , had the honour of installing in the chair Bro . Wm . Lawies Jackson , one of the representatives in Parliament of this important borough , in the presence of a large and influential assembly of the Craft , amongst whom were the R . W . D . P . G . M ., and its solemnity and beauty were much enhanced by the introduction of music sung by an efficient choir from the " Freemason ' s Liber Musicus , " a work to which Bro . Hughan's admirable letter in the Freemason a few months ago , drew attention to its varied character and great value , and is
edited by a P . M . of this lodge , Bro . Dr . bpark , P . P . G . O ., the eminent Organist of the Leeds Town Hall . This work is now published in a cheap and portable edition , which it is hoped will lead to its being generally adopted by the Craft , as our services are so admirably adapted for the judicious introduction of music . Immediately after the ceremony , the Festival of St . John was held , which was attended by about 100 of the brethren .

withdrew . At the request of the VV . M ., Bro . James Dawson , P . M ., took the chair of K . S ., and upon Bro . Wormleighton ' s re-entrance into the lodge , raised him to the Sublime Degree of a M . M ., in that able manner for which he has the reputation . This being the night of election , the choice of the brethren fell upon the S . W ., Bro . J . W . Edwards , who was declared unanimousl y elected . Bro . Edwards , however , being unfortunately seriously
indisposed , was consequently not present , and thereby prevented from acknowledging the confidence the brethren had reposed in him , but his partner in business , the W . M ., on behalf of the lodge , presented a splendid jewel of office to the Treasurer in recognition of his long services to the lodge and the high esteem in which he is held by the brethren . A beautiful jewel was also presented to the Organist , to
mark the appreciation of his aid in the efficient rendering of the ceremonies . After several candidates had been proposed for membership , and " Hearty good wishes" expressed by the visitors , the lodge was closed in due form and the brethren adjourned to Bro . Humble's , Cleveland Hotel , where a banquet had been prepared in mine host's best style , to which about 50
sat down . On the removal of the cloth the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured , interspersed with songs , glees , and instrumental performances by the musical brethren , and a most enjoyable evening was spent . During the evening telegrams of congratulation were exchanged with the Tees Lodge , No . 509 , and the Marquis of Ripon Lodge , No . iiSg , who were also celebrating their annual
festival . Letters and telegrams were also received from Provincial Officers and brethren at a distance who were unable to attend . The jewels were manufactured by our esteemed Bro . G . Kenning , and evoked universal admiration . Such a gathering has not been known in Hartlepool for several years , and the festival of the mother lodge of the district for 1 SS 4 will be long remembered as a red letter day in the local annals of Freemasonry .

SOUTHPORT . —Lodge of Unity ( No . 613 ) . — The celebration of the annual festival in connection with the above lodge took place on Monday , the 1 st inst ., at the Masonic Hall , when there was one of the largest and most influential gatherings ever witnessed here . The chair was taken by the W . M ., Bro . George Duxfield , and there were present amongst others , many who had taken high honours
in Masonry . The W . M . elect , Bro . Herbert Kidson , was presented b y Bro . Sutton , P . M ., and Bro . T . Adam , P . M ., the installation ceremony being most effectively performed by Bro . Duxfield , the retiring W . M ., who was afterwards presented with a handsome P . M . ' s jewel . The following officers were appointed and invested for the ensuing year : Bros . Advantage was taken of this occasion to present the Mayor of Southport , Bro . G . Pilkington , W . M . 1070 , with a very handsome robe of his Mayoral office , made of purple silk , trimmed with black velvet , and subscribed for by the members of 613 , 1313 , 1070 . The presentation was
made by Bro . Hope , P . P . G . C . VV . Lane , and feelingly acknowledged by Bro . Pilkington . The members to the number of 100 afterwards adjourned to the Prince of Wales Hotel , where , under the superintendence of Bro . Wilkinson , manager , was provided a sumptuous banquet , served up in the excellent style for which this hotel is noted . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured , and the evening was enlivened by some capital vocal and instrumental music .
LIVERPOOL . —St . John ' s Lodge ( No . 673 ) . — The ordinary monthly meeting of the members of this lodge was held at the Masonic Hall , Hope-street , on Tuesday evening , the 2 nd inst ., and the proceedings were rendered especially interesting by a presentation to the I . Le Cronier for the very able manner in which he had conducted the ceremony of installation . It was also unanimously resolved that a Past Master ' s jewel be presented to Bro . J . G . Pallot for services rendered by him in previous years as W . M . and for several years as Secretary . The report of the Auditors
of the lodge accounts for the past year was read , and showed an increase of 20 per cent , in the lodge amount , while the sum of £ 15 had been given severally to cases of urgent relief , and no less than 25 guineas will have been sent forthwith to the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution as part of the result of the labours of the lodge for the past year , being equal to 5 s . for each subscribing member of the
lodge sent to these most laudable Institutions . At the close the brethren present—85 in number—sat down to a splendid banquet , provided by Bro . G . Rogers , Guardian of the Masonic Temple , where , as usual , he provided everything in a manner to give entire satisfaction . Among the several toasts which were proposed during the evening that of " Bro . Dr . Le Cronier , the Installing
Master , " and Bro . I < . Pearce , the W . M ., " were received in a most hearty manner . The toast of "The Past Masters of the Lodge" was responded toby Bro . G . J . Renouf , and Bro . Col . M . Ramsay most ably responded to the toast of " The Distinguished Visitors . "
"The Prosperity of the Masonic Charities" was also proposed , and was responded to in a very suitable manner by Bro . J . O . Le Sueur , P . P . G . S . W . Hughan's admirable letter in the Freemason a few months ago , drew attention to its varied character and great value , and is
edited by a P . M . of this lodge , Bro . Dr . bpark , P . P . G . O ., the eminent Organist of the Leeds Town Hall . This work is now published in a cheap and portable edition , which it is hoped will lead to its being generally adopted by the Craft , as our services are so admirably adapted for the judicious introduction of music . Immediately after the ceremony , the Festival of St . John was held , which was attended by about 100 of the brethren .

mark the appreciation of his aid in the efficient rendering of the ceremonies . After several candidates had been proposed for membership , and " Hearty good wishes" expressed by the visitors , the lodge was closed in due form and the brethren adjourned to Bro . Humble's , Cleveland Hotel , where a banquet had been prepared in mine host's best style , to which about 50
sat down . On the removal of the cloth the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured , interspersed with songs , glees , and instrumental performances by the musical brethren , and a most enjoyable evening was spent . During the evening telegrams of congratulation were exchanged with the Tees Lodge , No . 509 , and the Marquis of Ripon Lodge , No . iiSg , who were also celebrating their annual
festival . Letters and telegrams were also received from Provincial Officers and brethren at a distance who were unable to attend . The jewels were manufactured by our esteemed Bro . G . Kenning , and evoked universal admiration . Such a gathering has not been known in Hartlepool for several years , and the festival of the mother lodge of the district for 1 SS 4 will be long remembered as a red letter day in the local annals of Freemasonry .

of the lodge accounts for the past year was read , and showed an increase of 20 per cent , in the lodge amount , while the sum of £ 15 had been given severally to cases of urgent relief , and no less than 25 guineas will have been sent forthwith to the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution as part of the result of the labours of the lodge for the past year , being equal to 5 s . for each subscribing member of the
lodge sent to these most laudable Institutions . At the close the brethren present—85 in number—sat down to a splendid banquet , provided by Bro . G . Rogers , Guardian of the Masonic Temple , where , as usual , he provided everything in a manner to give entire satisfaction . Among the several toasts which were proposed during the evening that of " Bro . Dr . Le Cronier , the Installing
