FIELD~LANE REFUGESANDJAGGEDSCHOOLS, THE COMMITTEE of this old-established Charity for relieving the really deserving Poor , are compelled to make a very urgent appeal for Funds for the continuance of their work . The work is carried on amongst the most destitute of the poor , both old and young . The Institution possesses no reserve fund to fall back upon . About £ 1200 is required for the support of the Institution to the close of the present year . Upwards of 200 persons are maintained , weekly . recent correspondents of yours as to the propriety of recognising the services rendered to our Institutions by the officers of Masonic Charitable Associations has ever before been publicly discussed in your columns , but it seems to me the question admits of no doubt whatever , and that if a way could be found of rewarding these officers for their very arduous labours without trenching on the rights and privileges of the Subscribers and Stewards to our Charities . the Craft eenerallv would be gratified bv its adnntinn .
Even the smallest of these Associations is a means by which a considerable sum is raised towards the support of our Institutions , while in the case of the larger organisations , contributions amounting to many hundreds of pounds are the result . Only the most trifling expense for postages and printing is incurred , and the Treasurer and Secretarybut especially the latter—who do most of the work , are quite content and quite ready to undertake the same labours and responsibilities a second and a third time , when the usual compliment of a vote of thanks has been ,

recent correspondents of yours as to the propriety of recognising the services rendered to our Institutions by the officers of Masonic Charitable Associations has ever before been publicly discussed in your columns , but it seems to me the question admits of no doubt whatever , and that if a way could be found of rewarding these officers for their very arduous labours without trenching on the rights and privileges of the Subscribers and Stewards to our Charities . the Craft eenerallv would be gratified bv its adnntinn .
Even the smallest of these Associations is a means by which a considerable sum is raised towards the support of our Institutions , while in the case of the larger organisations , contributions amounting to many hundreds of pounds are the result . Only the most trifling expense for postages and printing is incurred , and the Treasurer and Secretarybut especially the latter—who do most of the work , are quite content and quite ready to undertake the same labours and responsibilities a second and a third time , when the usual compliment of a vote of thanks has been ,
