The Committee of Management of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution held their regular meeting at Freemasons' Hall , on Wednesday . Bro . C . E . Keyser , J . G . The minutes of the previous Committee having been read and verified , the Secretary reported the death of three male and three widow annuitants , of one widow half annuitant , who was a candidate , and of one male and one widow candidate . The Warden ' s report for the past month was read , as well as that of the Finance

Committee . The applications of two widows of lately deceased annuitants for half their late husband ' s annuities were granted . The Committee then dealt with the petitions of io men—including the one deferred from the December meeting—and 7 widows , with the result that all the former and five of the latter

were accepted , and their names ordered to be placed on the list of candidates for the election in May next , while those of the two remaining widows were deferred for further information . A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the proceedings .

ROYAL MASONIC INSTITUTION FOR GIRLS .

A Quarterly Court of Subscribers and Governors of this Institution was held on Thursday at Freemasons ' Hall , Bro . Frank Richardson , P . G . D ., Patron , in the chair . There were also present Bros . J . H . Matthews , James Brett , Wm . F . Smithson , H . Massey , George Adamson , A . C . Spaull , W . G . Kentish , W . H . Saunders , G . N . Money , James Moon , and F . R . W .

Hedges ( Secretary ) . In the course of laying summaries of the House Committee ' s proceedings before the Court by Bro . Hedges , when the portion was arrived at which detailed the Committee ' s elealing with the boiler explosion which took place at the School , Bro . RICHARDSON said the boilers were at work again . When the explosion

occurred the Committee considered the questions of boiler insurance and employers' liability . The boilers were now under the charge of a different engineer . The Committee very carefully examined the exploded boiler , and they found tint the engineei in charge had screwed the safety valve tightly down , and that was how the explosion occurred .

Bro . HEDGES having reported the confirmation , on December 7 th , 1892 , of the resolution by Grand Lodge of September 7 th , passed in accordance with the request of the General Court of the Girls' School of July 7 th last , Bro . RICHAKDSON said the resolution of Grand Lodge was that the Sustentation Fund should be

amalgamated with the General Fund . There was no sense in having the two funds , and it was bad bookkeeping . The resolution was confirmed at last Grand Lodge , and he would now move that the Secretary take the proper steps to transfer the Sustentation Fund to the General Fund . Bro . W . F . SMITHSON , P . G . D ., seconded the motion ,

which was then put and carried . Bro . J . H . MATTHEWS , P . D . G . D . C , said that unfortunatel y death had made sad ravages among the trustees of the General Fund , and it was necessary to fill up the vacancies . It had been intimated to him that the R . W . Deputy Grand Master , the Rt . Hon . the Earl of Mount Edgcumbe , and one of the senior Provincial Grand Masteis , Earl Amherst , would be p leased

to act as trustees . He would wish to add Col . Peters , one of their old trustees . He would therefore formally move that the R . W . D . G . M ., the Earl of Mount Edgcumbe ; the Earl Amherst , Provincial Grand Master for Kent ; and Col . Peters , P . G . Swd . Br ., be elected trustees of the General Fund . The motion was carried , after having been seconded by Bro . SMITHSON . Bro . FUANK RICHARDSON said the Institution had

very good trustees , and lie might further add that it was a very useful thing to have men of such high social position as trustees , as they exercised very great influence when matters arose affecting the Institution . Bro . J . H . MATTHEWS , P . D . G . D . C , Patron , Chairman of the House Committee for the month , moved—That , in consequence of vacancies caused by children

elected in October not being of age to be received into the School , that the two next highest unsuccessful candidates be admitted , under Law 94 , viz ., Dorothea Whitaker and Winifred ColTey . " Having read Law 94 , he said the House Committee found there would be two beds empty for the next six months by two girls

elected not being of the age for admission , if the Committee did not fill them up . It was not advisable that there should be empty beds , and as the two children he bad referred to were not yet ei ght years of age , the best thing was to put in force this Law 94 . Bro . W , H . SAUNDURS seconded , and said he was

very glad the Committee had acted as stated b y Bro . Matthews . Bro . MATTHEWS said that as it might be asked what effect this would have on the candidates for election , he might tell the brethren that 19 would be elected in April out of 29 . The brethren then passed the following

recommendation of the General Committee on December 29 th , 1 S 92— "That the five eligible candidates remaining from the last election , together with the 27 whose petitions have been this clay approved , be placed upon the list of candidates for the April election , and that 21 vacancies be declared . " Bro . FRANK RICHARDSON said it had now been definitely fixed that the 105 th Anniversary Festival of

the Institution should take place on Wednesday , May 17 th , at which the Earl of Euston had kindly consented to preside . His lordship ' s province was very active in support of the Festival , and he had no doubt they would make a good return . He hoped that the result of the Festival would be large . A vote of thanks to the Chairman and the Worshipful Brother's acknowledgment of same closed the proceedings .

BRO . HENRY LOVEGROVE , W . M . of the Hiram Lodge , No . 2416 , founded b y members of the Royal Institute of British Architects , has taken a very active part in Freemasonry for many years . He has served as W . M . of the Metropolitan Lodge , No . 1507 ; the Royal Honour , No . 1777 ; the Brixton , No . 1949 ; and the Henry Levander , No . 2048 ,

and in 18 S 0 was Prov . Grand Superintendent of Works for Middlesex . He is a P . Z . of Nos . 72 and 1 549 ; has been Prov . Grand Standard Bearer and Prov . Grand Treasurer of the Prov . Grand Chapter of Middlesex . He has served many Stewardships for the Charities ; is Vice-President of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , and Life Governor of both the Schools .

In Mark Masonry Bro . Lovegrove has served as VV . M . of Nos . 4 and 234 , and has been Prov . Grand Inspector of VVorksand Prov . Senior Grand Warden of Middlesex and Surrey , and in 1881 svas Gr ;\ nd Inspector of Works . In the Ancient and Accepted Rite he is P . M . W . S . and Treasurer of the Shadwell Clerke Chapter , and the present M . W . S . of the Invicta Chapter ( his 14 th

installation ) , and has been admitted to the 30 , a Past Preceptor of the Order of the Temple , Past Grand Captain of the Guards , a P . C . N , of the Royal Ark Mariners ; also a member of the Secret Monitor , Cryptic Degrees , Royal Order of Scotland , and the Order of Rosicrucians . Bro . Lovegrove has been District Surveyor of South Islington tinder the Building Act for some years , and has recently been promoted

to the important district of Shoreditch , retaining his former appointment . He is a Fellow of the Surveyors ' Institution , a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects , and Past Vice-President of the Architectural Association . He is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers , and has a very fine collection of fancy poultry , of which he is reputed to be an excellent judge . He is author of an elaborate work published in serial form— " Practical Architecture . "
