The brethren were invited to the Globe Hotel by the W . M ., where an excellent banquet was served , which the host and hostess are noted for . Bro . Anderson presided , supported by Bros . Col . Sewell and Collin . The usual loyal toasts were duly honoured . Bros . Sewell and Collin replied on behalf of " Prov . Grand Lodge . "

Bro . Dalrymple , Installing Master , proposed "The Health of the Newly-Installed Master , Bro . Anderson , " and said although their reverend brother had not been a Freemason for many years , perhaps there was no one in the province had done more to further its interests for the time . He had been five times Provincial Grand Chaplain , had represented the province as a Steward to one of the Masonic Charities , and had his vote for the Royal Masonic

Institution for Boys . He had received congratulations from the four points of the compass for his Masonic sermons and orations , copies having been deposited in the archives of the province , and as sure as there was a Rev . Jas . Anderson who left his Highland home in the early part of the iSth century and steered in the direction that gentlemen of his nationality delighted to steer , south , and assisted to found a Grand Lodge in the land of his adoption , so sure there is

a Rev . James Anderson , the second , in the Worshipful Master of Skiddaw Lodge , No . 1002 , that during his year of office would give evidence of ability that would be looked back upon with pride in years to come . Bro . Anderson replied , and thanked the members of the lodge for the great honour they had conferred upon him , and he could assure them no effort would be spared to further the interests of the lodge during his Mastership ,

with the kind co-operation of his officers and members . Bro . Atkinson , P . M ., gave the toast of " The , Visitors , " and several replied . GUERNSEY . Mariner ' s Lodge ( No . 16 S ) . —The regular meeting of this , the oldest lodge of the Island , took place on the 4 th inst ., at the Masonic Temple . A goodly array of business had to be got through , so the indefatigable Secretary had judiciously called the meeting for 6 o ' clock prompt—an early hour for this lodge . It was very easy to observe on arriving at the Masonic Temple that

something unusual was about to take place , and it was very pleasing to us to find on enquiry that this was the installanight of the W . M . elect . Bro . R . B . Rowcliffe , W . M ., being seriously ill , was unable to attend , so the greater portion of the work devolved on the Senior Past Master , Bro . Reginald M . Smythson , who expeditiously initiated two candidates , and took the ballot for two joining members . Bro . Smythson then called upon Bro . A . C Quick to occupy the chair , and to conduct the ceremony of installation .

on the 20 th inst . Communications from the Secretaries of each of the Institutions asking for support at the next festival were brought forward , when the W . M . announced his intention of going up as a Steward for the Boys in June next .
