The monthly meeting of the Committee of Management was held at Freemasons' Hall , on Wednesday afternoon . Bro . C . E . Keyser , P . G . D ., Patron and Trustee , occupied the chair , and there were present Bros . A . C . Spaull , P . A . G . D . C ; R . D . Cummings , John Hattersley , James Speller , Hugh Cotter , J . B . Daniell , A . H . Hickman , A . Jlullord , C . Sheppard , D . Fisher , Robert A . Gowan , J . Campbell-Johnstone , C . J . R . Tijou , P . G . P . ; S . Vallentine , P . G . P . ; J . Newton , G . The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed , the Secretary reported the deaths of two male and one widow annuitants . The Warden ' s report for the past month was read . The SECRETARY stated that the amount of Donations and Subscriptions announced at the Festival recently held under the presidency of Bro . Lord George

Hamilton , M . P ., Prov . Grand Master for Middlesex , was ± 19 , 511 7 s ., with six lists outstanding , and that this sum had been since increased to £ ig , 6 ^ 6 7 s . 6 d ., with five lists to come in . Cordial votes of thanks were passed'to the Chairman for his kindness in presiding and to the Board of Stewards for their valuable services , and it was unanimously agreed that the former should be engrossed on vellum and presented to his lordship .

The applications of two widows to be allowed each of them a moiety of her late husband ' s annuity were granted , and the proceedings terminated with the customary vote of thanks to the Chairman .

BRO . THE REV . JAMES PUTTICK , who had the honour of being installed the first Worshipful Master of the St . Mary of the Harbour Lodge , No . 2591 , which was consecrated a short time since at Shoreham , was ordained in 1 S 69 , and held the curacy of Tillington—in which parish he was born—for seven years . Subsequently he was preferred to the living of Alfriston by the late Earl of Selborne , then Lord Chancellor , and here he remained till 188 9 , when , on the nomination of Lord Leconfield , he accepted the living of Kingston-by-Sea . Here he is a guardian of the parish , a District

Councillor , and also Chairman of the District Council of Steyning West . He was appointed a J . P . for the County of Sussex in 1894 , and is very generally esteemed and respected by all with whom he is brought in contact . Our Rev . Brother was initiated in the Derwent Lodge , No . 40 , Hastings , and in due course was elected and installed its W . M . •He is also a Mark Master Mason , and his services to Craft and Mark Masonry have been recognised by the Provincial authorities , by whom he has been appointed Provincial Grand Chaplain in both these branches of Masonry .

BRO . COUNCILLOR J . W . BANISTER , P . M . Amidst many manifestations of sincere regret , Bro . Councillor John Waddingham Banister died at his residence , Throstle Nest , Healey-Iane , Batley , late on Monday , the 2 nd inst ., at the age of 48 years . The deceased brother had for more than 12 months been a victim to disease of the heart and other ailmentsi

and , for more than six months prior to his death , he had been totally confined to his house . During his lifetime he was for many years connected with the muni ' cipal affairs of the town , for , in addition to serving for a short period as a member of the Town Council , he was , for a considerable length of time , attached permanently to the office of Town Clerk . He became identified with the Trafalgar Lodge , No . 971 , in November , 1880 , and continued a member up to the

time of his demise . He was a Past Master , and for a number of years held the office of Secretary . The funeral of the deceased took place at the Batley Cemetery on Thursday afternoon , the 5 th instant , in the presence of a moderate gathering of the public . Th ' e service in the chapel and at the graveside was performed by the vicar of Staincliffe , the Rev . St . George Kerr . The ceremony was attended by the Mayor ( Alderman B . P . Nettleton ) , the Town Clerk ( Mr . J . H .

Brown was out riding at Black ' heath on Monday morning , when he was thrown from his horse and killed , deal being almost instantaneous . The deceased , who was an auctioneer and survey

and a member of the Shipwrights' Company , was a Past Master of Grand Maste rs Lodge , No . 1 , and a Past Grand Steward , and had done good service to 011 Charitable Institutions , not only by qualifying as a Life Governor for all ' ' but also by having served a Festival Stewardship on behalf of each of 'j'fj ' We tender our sincere sympathy to the family and friends of our late lug" " esteemed brother .

STAR CHAPTER , No . 1275 . The weekly convocation was held at the Stirling Castle Hotel , Church-street , Camberwell , on Friday , the 6 th inst . Present : Comps . Loader , M . E . Z . ; Dunn , H . ; Derham , T . ; T . Grummant , P . Z ., Preceptor ; Hardman , S . E , ; Cornford , S . N . ; Lewis , P . S . ; Dawson , ist A . S . ; Cureton , P . Z . ; Phillips , P . Z . ; Benedetti , P . Z . ; Cope , P . Z . ; Towers , Beecroft , and Eidmans .

The chapter was declared open , and the minutes of the last convocation were read and confirmed . The ceremony of exaltation was rehearsed , Comp . Cureton personating the candidate . Comp . Cureton , M . E . Z . 21 S 2 , was elected M . E . Z . for the next meeting . The M . E . Z . rose the usual number of times , and after " Hearty good wishes , " the chapter was closed . The annual supper will take place at the Surrey Masonic Hill , Cambenvell , on Friday , the 17 th prox ., at 7 p . m ., Comp . T . Grummant , Preceptor , occupying the chair .

BRO . COUNCILLOR J . W . BANISTER , P . M . Amidst many manifestations of sincere regret , Bro . Councillor John Waddingham Banister died at his residence , Throstle Nest , Healey-Iane , Batley , late on Monday , the 2 nd inst ., at the age of 48 years . The deceased brother had for more than 12 months been a victim to disease of the heart and other ailmentsi

and , for more than six months prior to his death , he had been totally confined to his house . During his lifetime he was for many years connected with the muni ' cipal affairs of the town , for , in addition to serving for a short period as a member of the Town Council , he was , for a considerable length of time , attached permanently to the office of Town Clerk . He became identified with the Trafalgar Lodge , No . 971 , in November , 1880 , and continued a member up to the

time of his demise . He was a Past Master , and for a number of years held the office of Secretary . The funeral of the deceased took place at the Batley Cemetery on Thursday afternoon , the 5 th instant , in the presence of a moderate gathering of the public . Th ' e service in the chapel and at the graveside was performed by the vicar of Staincliffe , the Rev . St . George Kerr . The ceremony was attended by the Mayor ( Alderman B . P . Nettleton ) , the Town Clerk ( Mr . J . H .

BRO . BRADSHAW BROWN , P . M ., PAST G . STWD . Very sincere regret will be felt at the death of Bro . Bradshaw Brown an " the circumstances under which it occurred . Bro . Brown was out riding at Black ' heath on Monday morning , when he was thrown from his horse and killed , deal being almost instantaneous . The deceased , who was an auctioneer and survey

and a member of the Shipwrights' Company , was a Past Master of Grand Maste rs Lodge , No . 1 , and a Past Grand Steward , and had done good service to 011 Charitable Institutions , not only by qualifying as a Life Governor for all ' ' but also by having served a Festival Stewardship on behalf of each of 'j'fj ' We tender our sincere sympathy to the family and friends of our late lug" " esteemed brother .
