M . 15 G 7 ; W . E . Wigmore , P . M . 177 ; and others .

The minutes were confirmed and a most satisfactory audit report was produced and ad"pted . The lodge has , during the past few years , greatly increased in popularity , due not only to the good working in the lodge but to the very excellent musical talent possessed by a larger number of its members that is generally found to exist in most lodges . Bro . Charles Robert Austin , 22 C 2 . was unanimously elected a joining member , and Bros . Fred . Payne and Harry G . A . Nash were raised to the Degree of M . M . in a most impressive manner by the W . M . Bro . John Osmond , P . M ., then assumed the

chair and installed Bro . Jesse T . Davies , P . M ., as W . M . for the ensuing year , in the presence of a great number of installed Masters . The following officars were apnointed for the years 1 S 9 6-7 , and duly invested , viz .: Bro-. Fred . VV . Stephens , I . P . M . ; T , Neal , S . W . ; Harry Morris . J . W . ; Alf . Atkin , S . D . ; C Botterill , J . D . ; J . Hullard I . G . ; Mark Attwood , Drg . ; T . Divall , D . C . ; Frank Clark and C . Stuart Walker , Stwds . ; and R . F . Potter , P . M ., Tyler . Ten guineas were voted to the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution to be placed on the list of Bro . Walter Harvey ,

a member of the lodge and its representative at the recent festival . It was announced that this sum completed the endowment of the three principal chairs as Life Governors , and that now the other oflicers in the lodge would , in rotation , be similarly endowed . Letters were received from Bros . Stiles , Grand Treas ., and W . H . Bailey , Grand Treas . elect , regretting their inability , owing to previous engagements , to attend , and Bro . Geo . Reynolds , P . M . 1614 , also wrote stating that owing to recent illness he was unable to be present . A proposition was received and the lodge was closed .

The brethren then adjourned to the Victoria Hall , where a recherche banquet , for which great credit was due to Bro . Mantel , the manager , under whose personal superintendence it was admirably served . An especially interesting programme oi music and entertainment had been arranged by Bro . Mark Attwood , Org ., comprising the following well-known artistes : Bros . Fred W . Stephens , I . P . M . ; Fred Russell , A . Atkin , Stuart Walker , and Madame Alice Lovenez and Miss Jessie McLairen—the latter is the daughter of one of the Past Masters of the lodge and n pupil of the late Mr . Carrodus .

The usual toasts of "The Queen and the Craft" and "The M . W . G . M . " were duly honouied , the VV . M . making a feeling and sympathetic reference to the loss sustained by the lamented death of his Royal Highness Prince Henry of Battenberg . Bro . Fred Stephens , I . P . M ., proposed "The Health of the W . M ., " and reviewed the very excellent work which Bro . J . S . Davies , P . M ., had done not only in that ( hi ; mother ) lodge , but also in the district of Wood Green , where he was intrumental in

founding Ltdge No . 2426 , and had taken a most active part in the lodge of instruction attached thereto , of which he was Preceptor . Bro . Stephens added that the brethren of the Ebury were delighted to welcome at their festive b jard " the Wood Green contingent "—some dozen brethren—who were present that evening , and assured them that the members of the Ebury Lodge joined with them in the opinion of the high esteem in which Bro . Davies was held , bolh asa fiiendand a brother Mason .

Bro . J . T . Davies , P . M ., who was received with quite an ovation , thanked Bro . Stephens and the brethren generally for the kind words in which reference had been made respecting him and as to his work in the Craft , and gave his assurance that the duties of the office of VV . M . of the Ebury should be performed to the very best of his ability , and that he felt very proud of the great honour of having attained the office of W . M . of his mother lodge .

The toast of " The Initiates . Bros . C . Herridge and G . D . Bain , " having been duly honoured , and suitably responded to by both those brethren , The W . M . gave "The I . P . M ., " stating that Bro . Fred Stephens was well known not only to the brethren of the lodge , but to very many of the visitors , o » ing to the advantage he obtained in his professional capacity of beco-ning acquainted with brethren in the Masonic world . The W . M . had no hesitation in stating that there wis a general agreement that a better and more deserving brother never breathed , and that h :

was one in every way worthy of esteem . As a slight recognition of the very satisfactory way in which he had performed the duties of W . M . for the past year , and as a token of the regard and esteem of the brethren , they desired to present him ( Bro . Stephens ) with a jewel , which Bro . Davies placed on his breast with the earnest hope that Bro . Stephens might be spared many years to wear it with credit to himself and as amemento of his year of office . Bro . Fred . Stephens , I . P . M ., heartily thanked the W . M . for his remarks , and the brethren generally for so generous a mark of their approv » I of his efforts . He had

hoped to have installed his successor into the chair , but domestic trouble had prevented him devoting the time necessary for the preparation of the ritual , and as on other occasions , his good friend , Bro . John Oimond , P . M . of the lod _; e , had come to his assistance , to whom he desired to express his grateful thanks . The following replied for "The Visitors , " viz .: Bros . Murray , W . M . 145 ; H W . Parker , W . M . 204 S ; J . H . Pearson , P . M . 1567 ; Blatchford , P . VI . 1196 ; Wigmore , I . P . M . 177 ; and Hodgson , P . M . 1 O 13 , all of whom expressed themselves as highly gratified at the working in the lodge , and to the kindly reception accorded to them at the banquet table .

The W . M . then proposed "The Health of the Installing Master , Bro . Osmond , and the other Past Masters of the Lodge , including the Treasurer and Secretary . " As regards the duties so kindly undertaken in assistance of th : VV . M . by Bro . Osmond as Installing Master , the W . M . considered that the manner in which such had been performed redounded immensely to the credit of that brother , and was to the great delight and satisfaction of every brother present at the ceremony .

Bros . Fowles and Bristow responded for the Past Masters , and Bro . Fincham , P . M . and Sec , in the name of Bro . Wigley , Treas ., and himself , acknowledged the kind words in which they had been referred to by the W . M ., and added that both felt a pleasure that the work which they performed very willingly for the lodge was so appreciated . , The toast of " The Oflicers of the Lodge " was duly responded to , and the Tyler s toast concluded the proceedings at a late hour .

Henley Lodge , No . 1472 . The installation meeting of the above powerful and flourishing lodge took place on Tuesday , the 3 rd inst ., at the Three Crowns Hotel , North Woolwich , and was both an interesting and enjoyable one , on account of the number of eminent metropolitan and local Masons present , and the excellent working of the Installing Officer and new Master in their several oflices . Invitations were sent to the Masters and Wardens of Nos . 13 , 700 , 107 G , 1536 , and 2399 , all of whom were present or represented by one or more Past Masters or lay brethren of the lodge .

The lodge was opened by the W . M ., Bro . J . Delo , and , after the usual preliminaries , the ballot was taken for Messrs . M . Moses and H . Woodward , and , proving unanimous , they were ultimately initiated by the incoming W . M . Bro . T * . A . Reeve , S . W ., W . M . elect , was then presented to the W . M ., to receive at his hands the benefits of installation , and in due course Bro . Reeve was installed and saluted . He invested his officers as follows : Bros . John I . Delo , I . P . M . ; VV . Turvey , S . W . ; J . Palmer , J . W . ; C . " . Canning , P . M ., P . M . and Treas . 21 S 4 , P . P . J . G . D . Essex , Treas . ; Chas . Jolly , P . M-. W . M . 2184 , Sec ; W . Baker , S . Ross , D . C ; S . Chaplin , A . D . C ; T . Welsh , A . McNair , R . Stephenson , and C Carter , Stwds . ; and W . Redmond , Org . Bro . Delo then gave the addresses most impressively , and so concluded the ceremony of installation . The W . M . commenced his reign by initiating the two candidates in a careful manner . Bro . Delo was presented with a Past Master ' s jewel of the value of 10 guineas , and it was resolved ' tn ?; a vote of thanks should be recorded on the minutes ui the lo \< e , a copy of which snouiI be illuminated on vellum , suitably mounted , and framed , at a c s : not exceeding "J " guinias , and presentid to him at thi njxt meeting of th ; loJge , " for . vhich Bro . veto icturntd his sincere thanks . Bro . C H . Canning , P . M ., Treas ., hiving servei the latter office for the term of five years , was , according to custom in the Henley Lodge ,

Bro . Charles Robert Austin , 22 C 2 . was unanimously elected a joining member , and Bros . Fred . Payne and Harry G . A . Nash were raised to the Degree of M . a member of the lodge and its representative at the recent festival .

The W . M . then proposed "The Health of the Installing Master , Bro .
