£ too , which has enabled them to devote to Charities during the year £ 126 . " Bro . W . Royston Pike , S . W ., was then duly installed W . M . for the ensuing year , the impressive ceremony being most ably recited by Bro . Long , P . M ., after which the following were appointed and invested with their collars of office : Bros . Lieut . J . Knowles , R . N ., l . P . M . ; J . G . Livesay , S . W . ; Com . the Hon . A .

D . ; S . Peake Knight , D . C . j G . Sylvester , R . N ., Org . ; Lieut . H . G . Giles , R . N ., I . G . ; W . C . Primmer , R . N ., and Lieut . Oliver Young , R . N ., Stewards ; and G . Carter , Tyler .

On the proposition of the W . M ., and seconded by Bro . J . G . Livesay , S . W ., a vote of thanks was unanimously accorded to the Installing Master , Bro . H . J . Long , who briefly responded . Bro . H . J . Long then presented to Bro . J . Knowles , l . P . M ., a very handsome Past Master ' s jewel , studded with diamonds and rubies , from the brethren of the lodge , in recognition of the zeal displayed by him in the

discharge of his duties , and of the interest he had always taken in the welfare of the lodge . Bro . Knowles returned thanks , and assured the brethren he would always take a very deep interest in the prosperity of the lodge which he had at heart . Several members were proposed for initiation , and "Hearty guod wishes" being offered from all the visitors , the lodge was closed in due form .

A banquet was h > Id in the banqueting hall , admirably served by Bro . William Mayborn , the cut flowers abundantly adorning the tables were given and judiciously arranged by Bro . Samuel Peake Knight and lady friends . The Worshipful Master , after proposing "The Queen and the Craft , " and proposing " The M . W . G . M ., H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , " remaiked that such a toast needed

no comments from him , as his Royal Highness was known all over the world as the Prince of Wales and Prince of Masonry . "The Health of the Right Hon . the Earl of Carnarvon , Pro G . M . ; the Earl of Lathom , D . P . G . M . ; and the Officers of Grand Lodge " was proposed by the W . M . He referred to brethren of the province holding Grand Lodge collars , and also to members of the lodge who had been so honoured .

The Worshipful Master , in proposing " The Health of the R . W . Prov . G . M ., Bro . W . W . B . Beach , M . P . ; the R . W . Dep . Prov . G . M ., Bro . J . E . Le Feuvre ; and Officers of Prov . G . Lodge , Present and Past , " said it was hardly necessary for him to say much to ensure enthusiasm for the toast , for more considerate and energetic Masons than the P . G . M . and D . P . G . M . were not to be found They

had around them that evening brethren who held , and had held , provincial honours , and had assisted in raising the province to the high status in which it was held . The P . G . Officers had always been most aptly chosen , and the province was one of the finest in the whole world of Masonry . Bro . Rastrick , P . M . 1069 , Prov . Grand Treasurer , and Bro . H . Cawte , P . M . 342 , P . P . S . G . W ., responded .

Bro . Knowles , I . P . M ., said that , with the permission of the W . M ., a most pleasing duty involved upon him , in presenting to Bro . Sylvester , the esteemed Organist , with two silver goblets and a loving cup . No words of his could describe the valuable assistance Bro . Sylvester had contri . buted in rendering the beautiful ritual more impressive b y his performance on the organ , and had contributed greatly to the harmony of the lodge , both above and below . On

several occasions he had given up engagements so as to be present at lodge and preside at the organ or piano . Bro . Silvester was called to the top table amidst loud applause , and JBro . Knowles continued and said : With " Hearty good wishes" from the brethren of th * lodge , and to show you the esteem in which you are held by us , we present you with this small recognition of your genial honorary services .

Bro . Sylvester responded , and siid it was seldom he was called upon to address the brethren . He hardly knew how to express his thanks for the very handsome present . The good feeling assured him was heartily reciprocated , and on any future occasion he would be equally pleased to be amongst them . The engraving on the loving cup is as follows : —

' Presented to Bro . George Sylvester by the members of the Prince Edward of Saxe-Weimar Lodge , as a token of fraternal regards , and to mark their high appreciation of his services as Organist of this lodge , 1887 . " Bro . Page , P . M ., P . P . G . D ., proposed " The Worshipful Master , " and said he wished he had more ability to do justice to the toast . The reason he was called upon to propose

it was , he supposed , because he was the W . M . ' s Dad in Masonry—i . e . he was his proposer to be initiated . The W . M . had onerous duties to perform during his year of office , and was sure he would carry them out as others had done before him . He wished the W . M . every success and a happy year of office , and he was well qualified to carry out his duties .

Bro . Pike , W . M ., thanked the brethren for the way his health had been received . He said he could not do so without feelings of deep emotion . He had had something like six years in Masonry , and the whole time had been pleasantly spent in that ( his mother ) lodge , and he had endeavoured , as far as in him laid , to carry out his respective duties . He was now in the proud position of their WM

.. He did not say that in a spirit of pride , but with humility . He had done his best ; but felt himself woefully ignorant of what was to be done to carry out his duties with satisfaction . He had seen so many imperfertions in himself and around him , that he had come to ihe conrlu ^ ion that Masonry , which , in its purity of principle and piety of purpose , was a tit ritual tor angels , was unattainable by man . It must

therefore be that the secret of their failure was due to the fact that man was fallible and Masonry infallible . He thought ihat Ihat portion of the ritual " be careful to perform your allotted task , " & c ., sh 0 uld form a portion of their daily prayers . He felt greatly the solemn obligation he had taken that evening , and trembhd at the responsibility which devolved upon him ; and should he err to 1 ight or left , remember , it was Royston Pike sought their sympathy

, and not the W . M . Masonry , crusted over as it was with the hoar of antiquity , and dating as it did from primeval man , must flourish , as it soared far above party politics and religious strife , being founded on the grand principles of Brotherly Love , Relief , and Truth . The brethren each and all had his loving sympathy , and whenever he could do anything for them as a brother Mason he would . Bro . Pike , W . M ., proposed "The Health of the Instal-

ling Master , Bro . H . J . Long , " and remarked that it was unnecessary to delay the brethren with peans of eloquence , as they all knew Bro . Long well . The bfautiful ritual had been well performed , and personally he lhanked him . Bro . Long , P . M ., in returning thanks , said he had always endeavoured to do the best he could fur the welfare of the lodge ; if it had met with their approbation , he had

been amply repaid . What he had done in the past he would endeavour to do in the future . Bm . Elverston , P . M ., then proposed "The Health of the W . M . ' s and Representatives of Neighbouring Lodges , " which was responded to by Bros . Gilbert , W . M . 257 , and Dart , W . M . 2074 . Bro . Long , P . M ., proposed "The Health of the I . P . M .,

Bro . J . Knowles , who , he remarked , was one of the founders of the lodge , and had always taken a lively interest in it . Bro . Knowles briefly responded , and said he would never forget the kindness always shown him by the brethren . " The Health of the Visitors " was duly honoured , and responded to by Bro . Dr . Knight , who said he was initiated

in Emulation Lodge , No . 21 , February , 1837 , and raised in April the same year . Bro . J . Brickwood , l . P . M . 2074 , and Bro . J . Leonard also replied . The Worshipful Master proposed "The Officers of the Lodge , " responded to by Bro . J . G . Livesay , S . W ., and

the Tyler ' s toast concluded a most pleasant meeting . During the evening Bros . Bascombe , P . H . Emanuel , H . Miles , G . Sylvester , J . Leonard , H . W- Townsend , G . Cunningham , E . G . Charpentier , E . Hill , and Gunnell , contributed to the harmony , Bro . Sylvester also ably presiding at the pianoforte .

M . The letter received from the Pro Grand Master was read and considered , the brethren electing five of the members to attend the meeting . Other business having been transacted , the VV . M . was heartily

congratulated by the visitors present , and the lodge was closed in ancient form . The brethren then adjourned to the Lyric Hall , Ealing , where a very excellent banquet was partaken of . The usual loyal and other Masonic toasts were proposed by the W . M . and duly honoured . The toast of "The W . M . " was proposed by Bro . F . Botley , the I . P . M ., who said he felt proud of having

installed so worthy abrother . He had had an opportunity of watching the steady progress of the W . M . from the foundation of the lodge , he ( the W . M . ) being one of the founders , who he hoped had done his duty to the satisfaction of the brethren and of his conscience . The W . M . thanked Bro . F . Botley for the manner in which he had given the toast , and the brethren for the kind

way in which they had responded to it . He was very pleased indeed to be in the position of their W . M ., and trusted they would have a very pleasant year together . The W . M . then gave the toastof "The 1 nstalling Master , " Bro . F . Botley , I . P . M ., and concluded by pinning to his breast the handsome P . M . ' s jewel presented by the brethren as a mark of esteem and appreciation for the services rendered during his year of office , and expressing a wish

that he might be spared for many years to wear it . Bro . F . Botley thanked the W .

Reports Of Masonic Meetings.

ling Master , Bro . H .

The W .
