other brethren ably assisted to make melodious this happy evening , and at a timely hour the "Tyler ' s Toast" was g iven . It is worthy of notice that of late years this old lodge has not only been the means of forming others , but also has , by most careful management and

admirable working , succeeded ; whilst being famous for giving large sums in charity , in keeping up its funds and keeping up its character as second to none in the extensive province of West Lancashire . On Saturday , the / th inst ., a Lodge of

Emergency was held for the purpose of disposing of general business in arrears . Bros . Barrow , Tickle , and Walker were then passed , and Gardner , Roberts , and Carrington raised to the higher degrees .

LIVURI ' . —Xejitiine Ludge ( Xo . 1264 ) . — The annual gathering of this excellent lodge was held on Friday last , the 6 th inst ., the principal business being the installation ofthe W . M . Elect , and the investiture of ollicers . The gathering was particularly large , and perhaps out of the most influential ever held in connection with the

The splendid rite of inauguration was then proceeded with , and nothing coned exceed file precision and solemnity of the whole ceremonial .

The conclave was thrice dedicau d , and after the invocation and an appropriate hymn , the " Dc Shurland , " No . 92 , was declared duly formed , and its members authorised to receive brethren faithful and true into the pale of Christian Kni g hthood .

Sir Kut . Hancock was then enthroned as M . P . S . ; Sir Knt . Joiiiil ' e inducted into the chair of Kusebius , and the ollicers were then appointed . The following brethren were then installed as Kni g hts of the Order : —Bros . Edward Penny ( 10 S 9 ) ; Alfred IngleUin ( 108 9 ) ; Robert

Draycon ( 1275 ) ; and Payne ( 158 ) . Comp , Parsons- ofiieiafed as , and was elected to the post of Sentinel . A vote of thanks was ordered to be recorded on the minutes to the . members of the Grand Council who had atkudid and assisted during the ceremonies , and this compliment was acktiowlede - . I ne M . P . S . then proposed , the Viceroy seconded , and it was carried by acclamation , that the Conclave should become an annual subscriber to the AIasonic Institution for Girls . After some formal business the Conclave was then closed , and the Knights adjourned to the baiii | tieting-room , which we may remark was

the lodge room of ihe De ShuiTand Lodge , and very beautifully fitted . An pleasamer evening was ever spent in Masonic fellowshi p than that which succeeded , the general regret being that , owing to the earl y departure of the Grand Councillors for London , it was considerably abbreviated .

Toast followed toast in ijuiek succession , speech trod upon the trailing garments of speech in rapid roialion , and at ihe earl y hour of eight , the bell—llie " railway bell "—close by , lolled the hour ( or retiring . The splendid rite of inauguration was then proceeded with , and nothing coned exceed file precision and solemnity of the whole ceremonial .

The conclave was thrice dedicau d , and after the invocation and an appropriate hymn , the " Dc Shurland , " No . 92 , was declared duly formed , and its members authorised to receive brethren faithful and true into the pale of Christian Kni g hthood .

Sir Kut . Hancock was then enthroned as M . P . S . ; Sir Knt . Joiiiil ' e inducted into the chair of Kusebius , and the ollicers were then appointed . The following brethren were then installed as Kni g hts of the Order : —Bros . Edward Penny ( 10 S 9 ) ; Alfred IngleUin ( 108 9 ) ; Robert

Draycon ( 1275 ) ; and Payne ( 158 ) . Comp , Parsons- ofiieiafed as , and was elected to the post of Sentinel . After some formal business the Conclave was then closed , and the Knights adjourned to the baiii | tieting-room , which we may remark was

the lodge room of ihe De ShuiTand Lodge , and very beautifully fitted . An pleasamer evening was ever spent in Masonic fellowshi p than that which succeeded , the general regret being that , owing to the earl y departure of the Grand Councillors for London , it was considerably abbreviated .
