the Royal Arthur Lodge , No . 1360 , at Wimbledon . The expression of their esteem and regard for Bro . Hoey in the lodge room . _ The I . P . M . of the Royal Arthur Lodge had deposed to a pergonal acquaintance with that brother , which extended to 20 years .

The brethren below the chair having retired , the W . M . elect was ably installed by the retiring Master . Bro . Horace Brooks Marshall was invested by the W . M . as I . P . M . The W . M . was saluted by the Installed Masters present . The Board of Installed Masters was closed . The brethren were re-admitted , and saluted the VV . M . in the Three Degrees . The Installing Master gave the three addresses in an impressive manner . Two gentle nen were nominated for initiation , and after " Hearty good wishes " were given to the VV . M . the lodge was closed . After an excellent banquet the ordinary toasts were given . In proposing "The Queen and the Craft , " the W . M . said how the Queen had endeared herself to her people , especially to Freemasons , who were amongst her most
loyal subjects ; that it behoved all Englishmen at this critical period to support in thought , word , and deed their beloved Sovereign . TheW . M . gave "The M . W . G . M ., H . R . H . the Prince of Wales . " He said their G . Master , who , for his numerous duties , was said to be " the busiest man in Europe , " devoted as much time as possible to the Craft , whose interests he had ever at heart . This toast was received with acclamation .
The next toast was "The M . W . Pro G . M ., Earl Amherst ; the R . W . Dep . G . M ., the Earl of Warwick ; and the rest of the Officers of Grand Lodge , Present and Past . " The W . M . alluded briefly to the services they had rendered to the Craft . Then followed the toast of the evening— "The VV . M . " —proposed by the I . P . M . I Ie alluded to the high character ot theW . M ., how he had gained the esteem and appreciation of all the brethren , how thoroughly he had discharged his previous Masonic 1 uties , auguring well that he would zealously and efficiently carry out his important trust , receiving , as he felt confident he would , the loyal support of bis officers and the biethrcn .
The W . M ., in reply , said it was an old well-known saying " that the function of language was to conceal thought , " but it was not so with him , he meant that the words he used should truly express his thoughts , that " he would wear his heart upon his sleeve , " not for daws to peck at , but that the brethren might know how grateful his feelings were to all , and how he valued their esteem , that it would , indeed , be a strong
encouragement for him , zealously and faithfully to discharge the duties of the chair with credit to himself and with the approbation of the brethren . The hearty applause which fjllowed , showed how the earnest speech of the VV . M . was appreciated . The W . M . then , in a few well-chosen words , said it was a mott pleasing duty to him to have the honour of affixing the first Past Master ' s jewel of the lodge on the

breast of their esteemed I . P . M ., who had so thoroughly merited the honour ' conferred upon him . The I . P . M . heartily shanked the W . M . and the brethren for the substantial mark of their appreciation of his services , which they might always command in the future . "The Masonic Charities , " "The Visitors , " "The Treasurer and Secretary , " and "The Officers of the Lodge , " followed in due course . The Tyler ' s toast concluded a most pleasant evening . The musical programme was under the direction of Bro . Walter G . Stott .
Eccentric Lodge , No . 2488 . The members and visitors attending the installation meeting of this flourishing lodge , on the Gth inst ., filled the Masonic Room at the Cafe Royal , Regent-street , W ., to its utmost capacity . M . returned thanks , and propositions for joining and initiation having been received , the lodge was closed . ...
Ample justice having been done to the really excellent banquet provided , the customary toasts were given . Bro , J . D . Langton , P . D . G . D . C , replying for "The Grand Officers , " said the majority of the Grand Officers present were members of the Eccentric Club . Since they met a year ago , one of the members of the club—Bro . Kiralfy—had joined the ranks of the Grand Officers , and his accession to that office had given great pleasure to all . All present had extremely enjoyed the installation ceremony so beautifully done
by the outgoing Master , Bro . Harris , and they congratulated the new Master , Bro . Sergeant Lee , on getting to the chair of this very distinguished lodge , and hoped , sincerely , be would have a very pleasurable year of office . As an excellent programme of music was always provided for their entertainment , any further remarks would not increase their enjoyment , and he would , therefore , only thank them sincerely . Bro . Lionel VV . Harris , I . P . M ., in giving "The Worshipful Master , " said the a-Mmon : criven bv Bro . Sereeant Lee , W . M ., to many of his officers that evening
were equal to any eloquence tney mignt nope near auring year . ney all knew the W . M . as a Past Master in the Masonic art , Bro . Lee had occupied other chairs previously , so that this time next year they would all agree he had discharged his duties as the Past Masters of this lodge had done before him . They had known the W . M . for many years and knew his eloquence , and as far as his duties were concerned they would be carried out to do justice to the traditions of the Eccentric Lodge . He would ask all present to drink to the long life , health and prosperity of the new Worshipful Master . _ ..
Bro . W . Sergeant Lee , P . M ., W . M ., in reply , said : For the very kind manner in which my health has been proposed , and the cordial manner in which you have drunk it , I can only say , in the language of the greatest poet— " Thanks , thanks , and ever thanks . " The W . M . then proceeded to propose " The I . P . M . and Installing Master . " He said that Bro . Harris was the first of the initiates to reach the chair , had proved himself a most enthusiastic Mason , and had performed all the ceremonies , especially the installation , in a manner calline forth notbine but praise from the members . Bro . Harris
was also an enthusiastic worker in the Arch and Mark , and in his Stewardship for the Boys' School took up the second highest list . The LP . M . had that evening presented the lodge with a beautiful Charity-box bearing the inscription— " Presented to the Eccentric Lodge , No . 2 4 88 , by VV . Bro . Lionel W . Harris , first initiate Master , as a token of fraternal and affectionate esteem . Oct . 6 , 1 S 99 . " They would observe above the box an owl , the emblem of the Club , also a clock having only two figures—12 and 4-He called upon the brethren to heartily drink the health of the I . P . M . and Installing Master
. liro . Lionel W . Harris , I . P . M ., said they would excuse him if in replying he took a serioustone . In the first place , he thanked the various members for their kind support in regard to his list for the Boys' School . His list was actually the first of those representing a single lodge . He thanked the W . M . for his kind expressions , and he could assure them that he had looked forward for the last seven years to the time when he should occupy the chair in this lodge , and so long as he lived the Past Master ' s jewel presented to him would be regarded as one of the greatest compliments
be had received . The happiness and prosperity of this lodge were deeply in his heart , and anything he could do for its advancement would be done with love and affection on his part . Bro . J . M .
The W . M . then , in a few well-chosen words , said it was a mott pleasing duty to him to have the honour of affixing the first Past Master ' s jewel of the lodge on the
Craft Masonry.
