It svas reported by the Provincial Grand Lodge of Peebles and Selkirkshire that they svould offer no opposition to the proposed disjunction of the lodge Peebles Kilwinning from the province , and on the recommendation of Grand Committee it svas resolved lo place it in the
Metropolitan Province . It was also resolved to form the three existing Border Provinces into tsvo—viz ., Haddington and Bersvick , composed of Duns ; St . John , Kilsvinning ; Haddington ; St . Abb ' s , Eyemouth ; Dunbar Castle , Dunbar ; St . Luke , Lauder ; St . John , Coldstream ; St . Baldred , North Bersvick ; and Tyneside , East Linton . Roxburgh and Selkirk will also consist of ei ght lodges—St . John , Selkirk ; Kelso ; St . John , Jedburgh ; Hasvick ; St . John , Stosv ; Tsveed , Kelso ; Galashiels ; and St . James , Hasvick .
A report svas submitted b y a Special Committee appointed to enquire and report lo Grand Committee as to the working of the lasv anent compulsory part of fees exigible for representation in Grand Lodge . That Committee svas of opinion that it svould be impolitic to rigidly enforce the lasv , and equally inadvisable to expunge it ; and recommended that each
Provincial Grand Lodge be directed to urge the lodges under its jurisdiction to have themselves fully represented in Grand Lodge , and thereby strengthen the hands of Grand Lodge in raising the status of Freemasonry and increasing its usefulness as a medium of svell-directed benevolence . This svas adopted .

The follosving is the report referred to abos'e : — The Council have great pleasure in announcing that the Grand Master has consented ti allosv himself to be nominated for a further term of three years . Since the last meeting of Grand Council , great progress has been made , and 106 "
certificates have been issued , the total number of registered admissions bring nosv 455 . The follosving svarrants have been granted : Palatine , No . 10 , Presion ; VV . M . Sesvell , No . 11 , Alaryport ; St . Paul ' s , No . 12 , Bristol ; Southern Cross , No . 13 , Sydney , N . S . VV . j Port Natal , No . 14 , Durban , S . A . ; and Rose and Lily , No . 15 , London .
It is confidently hoped from the svell knosvn energy and abilities of the petitioners for these nesv Councils , that a large increase of candidates may be speedily looked for . The Rose and Lily Council svas consecrated on Saturday , 24 th October , by R . W . Bro . * C . F . Matier , P . Dep . G . M ., Grand Secretary , the meeting svas largely attended , and tsvelve candidates svere admitted .
The Grand Master has great pleasure in recognising the zeal and discretion of R . W . Bro . Alfred Williams , the retiring Deputy Grand Master , svho has alsvays svith great kindness placed his services at the disposal of the Order . As it has been thought advisable to make this appointment an annual one , the Grand Master has nominated for the high position Bro . John Lasvrence Mather , P . G . S . W .
The Tabernacle of Concord , Liverpool , has agreed to surrender their svarrant from the Mother Tabernacle , at Manchester , now the Matier , Council T . L , and to accept a svarrant of confirmation from this Grand Council , on most favourable terms , and it is hoped this arrangement svill result in the consolidation and progress of the Orders in Lancashire .
