The minutes were confirmed , and Bro . E . C Mulvey , P . M ., assumed the chair , ancl installed Bro . William James Mason into the chair as the W . M . for the ensuing year . Thc officers for the year were appointed and invested as follows : Bros . C . A . Itter , S . VV . ; T . Clark , P . M ., J . W . ; Dr . W . Goodchild , Treas . ; C Sheppard , Sec . ; H F . The addresses were rendered by Bros . Dr . Goodchild , P . M . j H . Holmes , P . M . ; and E . C Mulvey , P . M . Messrs . L . W . Westwood and W . P . Hatton were unanimously approved by ballot , and were initiated into Freemasonry by
the VV . M ., who performed the ceremony in a manner leaving nothing to be desired . The sum of £ 2 ios . was unanimously voted to the Binckes' Commutation Pension Fund . Bro . Holmes , I . P . M ., having announced his intention of representing the lodge at the next Festival of the R . M . I , for Boys , and routine business having been transacted , the lodge was closed .
After a substantial banquet , the usual toasts were dishonoured . Bro . E . Rogers , G . Steward , returned thanks on behalf of "The Grand Officers , " and said he did not expect to have had the opportunity of replying to that toast , as there were two Grand Officers present earlier in the evening" , in addition to Bro . Cama , the P . G . Treasurer . He should
have been pleased to be relieved from the responsibility , but he could assure them he felt very proud to have the privilege of responding in a lodge such as that , and in which there were so man } ' members with whom he was intimately acquainted . He was especially delighted that evening to be the guest of the Worshipful Master , whom he had known for some time , and
whom he was pleased to see in the proud position of the chair . The more he had known the XV . Master the greater the pleasure had been to him . The admirable manner in which the W . M . had performed the initiation ceremony , immediately after being installed for the first time , was a great credit to him , and satisfaction to the brethren . Under the W . Master the lodge would go on improving and
prospering , and he hoped to have the pleasure of seeing the next Master installed . The Worshipful Master proposed " The Provincial Grand Master in charge the Provincial Grand Officers , " and said he had been associated with Bro . Fredk . West ever since the commencement of his Masonic career , that distinguished brother being the Treasurer of the Granite Lodge , in which
he was initiated , and who was loved and respected by all the members . Bro . R . T . Elsam , P . P . G . D . C , returned thanks , observing that the W . M . had spoken of Bro . West in terms which that brother would know how to appreciate if present . With regard to the rest of the Provincial Grand Officers , he ought to say but little , but whatever duties they had to perform
they endeavoured to carry out to the best of their ability . Bro . II . Holmes , I . P . M ., in giving "The Health of the M . W . " said he was sure it was unnecessary for him to say anything in praise of that brother as most of them had had the privilege of his acquaintance for some time , and that alone was quite sufficient to ensure his being * loved and respected . Bro . Mason had endeared himself to man } ' , and
was known not only as a hard working" Mason , but as a man ready to assist another , whether a Mason or not . Bro . W . J . Mason , W . M ., thanked the I . P . M . and brethren heartily and sincerely for the kind way in which his health had been proposed and received . That was , he hoped , a pleasant occasion to them all , and he was not going to mar their enjoyment by making a long speech . He
trusted they would accept his heartfelt appreciation of the kind remarks of the I . P . M ., and of the position in which he was placed . He would do his utmost to give satisfaction in the working ol" the lodge , maintain the harmony , and study the comfort of the members . He hoped the lodge would go on and prosper and maintain its reputation , and he heartily
wished it God speed . " The Initiates " having been giving and duly responded to , the Worshipful Master proposed "The Health of the Visitors , " and said the members were delighted to see so many guests . There were 24 visitors present , which was a good number for a small lodge . The members would at all

times use their utmost endeavours to make the visitors comfortable . Bro . George Davis , P . M . 1642 , in reply , said it was always somewhat difficult for a man , however gifted with eloquence , to respond to the toast of the visitors in a Masonic assembly such as the present . He could however re-echo the sentiments of all the visitors present if he said how pleased they were to
have had the opportunity ot seeing the W . M . intalled into the chair of K . b . It was an event they had been looking forward to for some long time , and now that they had experienced that great pleasure , they would all go away delighted to know that Bro . Mason had been installed as Master of that lodge , and had met with the approbation of all the members and visitors present . He trusted that the
W . M . ' s year would be a thoroughly prosperous one . Speaking for himself , he might say he was delighted to have the opportunity of giving vent to his feelings , and to congratulate the W . M . upon the fact that after several years of anxious working in the cause of Freemasonry , he had had the the opportunity of displaying to the brethren what he could do , and also that the members had so kindly received him with so much cordiality . He trusted the W . M . would live
long to be an ornament to that lodge , and was glad to see such able Past Masters supporting him as Bro . Holmes , P . M . the great pioneer of peace and good order . He thanked the members for the great hospitality accorded the visitors , and the kindness shown in inviting them . They had thoroughly enjoyed themselves , and would go away delighted with what they had seen and heard , and trusting to have the opportunity of visiting the lodge again for many and many
a year . Bro . j . j . Thomas , P . M . 753 , congratulated Bro . Mason on obtaining the exalted position of W . M . of the lodge . It was many years since they became acquainted , having been boys together , and it had , therefore , given him pleasure to see Bro . Mason installed , and he congratulated the lodge upon having an excellent working Mason , who
knew , and was acquainted with , all the Degrees . Bro . Jas . Stephens , W . M . 2150 , also replied , and said he might tell the members that on the previous Tuesday he had the good fortune of commenting upon Bro . Mason ' s ability as a Mason , and his kindliness of nature at ail times to the brethren of the Tivoli Lodge , of which , he was proud to say , Bro . Mason was his J . W . The brother they had
seen installed that night was one of the most genial , kindlyhearted , generous , and estimable men that a ' brother could meet , and the more one knew him , the more one honoured and appreciated the honour of his company . Bro . Dr . Pocock also responded . The VV . M ., in submitting "The Health of the I . P . M . and the Installing Master , " regretted that Bro . Holmes ,
I . P . M ., had not had good health duringhis year , but hoped the Great Architect would soon restore him . In the Installing Master , Bro . Mulvey , P . M ., they had a thoroughly hard-working Mason , able and willing at all times to do what he could for Freemasonry , and he thanked that brother personally for the kind manner in which he had carried out the duties of the installing ceremony . He had
a little lustre to add to that toast , and that was by asking the I . P . M . to allow him to pin to his breast a Past Master ' s jewel , and , on behalf of the lodge , to hope he would be spared for many years . Bro . H . Holmes , I . P . M ., thanked them , as he had done in the past , for another act of kindness . He would not
detain them further , except to give one fervent expression of thankfulness for the kindness extended to him . He felt great gratification in wearing the jewel of the lodge as an evidence of their appreciation of the few services he had rendered in the lodge , and as an earnest wish that in the future he should continue to ennoble them .
Bro . E . C . Mulvey , P . M ., Prov . G . Steward , said the installation ceremony had been a labour of love , having known the W . M . for many years . He ( Bro . Mulvey ) esteemed it an honour to have been the first W . M . of that lodge , and had no doubt that there would be numerous cyclist lodges in the future .
Bro . D . P . Cama , P . G . Treas ., responded for "Ihe Masonic Institutions , " and said , that as the father of the lodge , it gave him great pleasure to return hearty thanks for the kind manner in which the toast had been received . In the formation of that lodge he had one aim , which was that it would do something for the Charitable Institutions , and they had a slight subscription , that members might
subscribe to them . The demands upon the Institutions were so great that they were seldom able to grant all the demands made upon them . He should like to see the Institutions able to elect the applicants without an election , but that could only be done by the brethren fulfilling the promise of which they had been reminded that evening . He appealed to the brethren , hoping that those who had
already supported the Institutions would live long to continue their support , and that those who had not done anything would commence at once . He hoped the I . P . M . would take up a list for the Boys with a three figured total . The 'l yler ' s toast closed a successful evening . Bios . G . Goddard , II . J . Thomas , G . Brown , and Messrs . Abbott and Muscovite contributed excellent selections of music during the evening , and Bro . A . B . Northcroft rendered a recitation in capital style .

An additional five guineas was voted to the R . M . B . I ., and , £ . 2 ios . to the proposed pension fund for Bro . Binckes . Bro . C . VV . Duke mentioned that a daughter of the late Bro . Lewns would be a candidate for admission to the Girls' School , and asked the brethren to assist him with their votes .
