M . having risen for the third time , and nothing further offering for the good of Freemasonry , the lodge was closed and adjourned . The new quarters of this lodge are comfortable and commodious , and any brother attending will receive a most hearty and fraternal welcome .

W ., was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing week , and appointed his officers in rotation , and announced that he intended to work the ceremony of initiation . On rising for third time , nothing further offering for the good of Freemasonry , the lodge was closed .

STUART LODGE ( No . 1632 ) . —A meeting of this lodge was held on Thursday , the 27 th ult ., at the Moorgate , Finsbury Pavement , when there were present Bros . Morgan , W . M . ; Salter , S . W . ; Jonas , J . . ; M . Spiegel , P . M ., Preceptor ; Linley , S . D . ; and Smith , I . G .

The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes read and confirmed . The ist , 2 nd , and 3 rd Sections were then rehearsed by the Preceptor , assisted by the brethren . The ceremony of passing was rehearsed , and after " Hearty good wishes" the lodge was closed .

A meeting was also held on Thursday , the Gth inst ., at the above address , when there were present Bros . Salter , W . M . ; Jonas , S . W . ; S . S . Morgan , J . W . ; M . Speigel , P . M ., Preceptor ; Baldwin , S . D . ; Bohner , I . G . ; and others . Thelodge was duly opened , and minutes confirmed . The lodge then opened in the Second and Third Degrees , and

the ist Section of the Lecture worked by the Preceptor . The lodge then closed down to the Second and First Degrees respectively , and the ist , 2 nd , 3 rd , and 4 th Sections of the Lecture worked by the brethren . Bro . Jonas was elected W . M . for the next meeting . Bro . Spiegel , Preceptor , informed the brethren that he received several communications from some old Masons approving of his remarks on a previous occasion that he will not stop any

experienced brother , who might be instructed by another Preceptor , in a somewhat different working . One brother Preceptorsaid it was sometimes painful to him when attending a lodge of instruction , a young Preceptor , correcting him in some trifling different expression he might use , with the remark "that his working is the correct one , and must insist that it be acknowledged , " when by my experience I am fully aware from whence he has obtained his knowledge . After " Hearty good wishes , " the lodge was closed .

EARL OF CARNARVON LODGE ( No . 1642 ) . —A meeting of this lodge was held on Friday , the 7 th inst ., at the Kensington Park Hotel , Lancaster-road , Notting Hill , W . Present : Bros . W . J . John Dodge , Preceptor ; John Chapman , Jno . Lane , T . Prust , T . H . Wills , W . Taylor , John Taylor , as W . M . ; E . J . Pratt , as S . VV . ; W . J . Nosworthy , as J . W . ; S . Wills , as S . D . ; C . Hill , as J . D . ; J . W . Beer , I . G . ; | .

E . Newton , Tyler ; Geo . West , W . C . Bubb , J . McKellar , R . Rickard , J . Risdon , VV . Winget , W . Hersey , T . Johnstone , V . Lauzel , W . Thomas , T . J . Grossman , and W . Worth . The lodge was opened in the First Degree , and the minutes of last meeting read and confirmed . The audited balance sheet for the past year was presented and adopted ,

and considered a highly satisfactory one . It was resolved that a donation of five guineas be given to the " Devon Masonic Educational Fund , " in the nameof the "Jordan Lodge of Instruction . " Bro . John Dodge , was re-elected Preceptor for the ensuing year , all the brethren expressing their hi g h appreciation of the valuable services rendered by our genial Preceptor during the many years he has held that

position . Bros . John Lane and John Taylor were respectively re-elected Treasurer and Secretary . Bro . J . E . Newton was re-elected Tyler and specially thanked for his gratuitous services . After the Preceptor had passed in review the work of the evening and appointed the work and

officers for the next meeting , the lodge was closed . The brethren then adjourned to the banquet room , where the annual supper was provided by Bro . Risdon , the evening being most pleasantly spent in a sociable manner , interspersed with songs , recitations , and solos by Bros . Chapman , Dodge , Thomas , Pratt , and others .

Spiegel , Preceptor , informed the brethren that he received several communications from some old Masons approving of his remarks on a previous occasion that he will not stop any

experienced brother , who might be instructed by another Preceptor , in a somewhat different working . One brother Preceptorsaid it was sometimes painful to him when attending a lodge of instruction , a young Preceptor , correcting him in some trifling different expression he might use , with the remark "that his working is the correct one , and must insist that it be acknowledged , " when by my experience I am fully aware from whence he has obtained his knowledge .
