M . on his being elected to the Board of General Purposes , and a resolution to that effect was recorded in the minutes . The W . M . responded in words suitable to the occasion , and at the same time referred to the successful Festival of the Boys' School just held . The brethren of

Essex had on that occasion well supported their beloved Provincial Grand Alaster—Lord Brooke . The lodge was then closed , and shortly afterwards a supper was provided . The W . M . gave the usual toasts , which were all responded to most heartily . _ The toasts of "The W . M . " and " The I . P . M . " were

received with much pleasure by the brethren , as also that of "The Visitors , " which was acknowledged by Bros . Taplay , Hart , Ramuz , Gregar , and Harvey . The toast of the evening was "The Initiates , " which was g iven with the usual honours , and was responded to by the newly-made brother . After " The Officers '" and Tyler ' s toasts a pleasant meeting ended .

The W . M . gave an account of his Stewardship at the Boys ' Festival , and received the congratulations of the brethren on the success of his efforts , his list having realised upwards of £ 64 . The congratulations of the lodge were also tendered to the Secretary on his recent appointment to the office of Prov . J . G . D . The lodge was then closed , and the brethren subsequently spent a very enjoyable evening in tbe supper room .

WEYSIDE . Weyside Lodge ( No . 1395 ) . —The installation meeting of this lodge was held at the Masonic Hall , on Tuesday evening , the 27 th ult ., and was a highly successful one . The W . M . elect was Bro . Gilbert Henry White , the son of a Mason whose memory is held in respect in this neighbourhood , and , curiously enough , the ceremony of

installation fell to Bro . Percy Harry White , W . Al ., a brother however , not in any way related to the new VV . M . Bro . Percy White performed the important function in a manner to call forth hearty appreciation from the brethren , and the installed Alaster gave promise that the lodge would flourish during his term of office .
