Thanks to the kindness and energy of Bro . W . IT . Kempster , M . D ., P . G . Stwd ., W . M ., a most pleasant gathering was organised on the 30 th ultimo . A steam launch left the classic and interesting precincts of the Temple shortly after two o ' clock , en route for Hampton

B . Green .
It was a most glorious day . The great heat of the sun was tempered by a pleasant bree / e . A block took place at the far-famed Teddington Lock , which caused a tedious delay of half an hour or so . The voyagers were eventually landed at the Middlesex side of Hampton Court Bridge just as the clocks were striking six .
At the portals of ye ancient Mitre hostelrie stood the venerable and genial host , Bro . Sadler , ready to receive his somewhat tardy guests . Mine host bears the weight of his nearly 80 summers well . It is needless to say that the dinner , wines , and dessert were of the most excellent quality , and the waiting almost faultless for some of the lion vivants . The proceedings were far
too brief , but the happiest and brightest of days must pass , and so it was in this instance . A few toasts were given , and warmly received , but "The Health of the VV . M . " was drunk with more than usual cordiality , as every one felt that it was to him that so charming an outing had been projected and
successfully carried out . He had just given tne toast of " The Officers " when the live minutes' warning bell of the adjoining railway station , and the ominous snr-rting of the iron-horse , gave notice at 8 . 30 p . m . that it was time for those to depart who wished to reach home early .
