The Quarterly General Court of Governors and Subscribers of thc Royal Masonic Institution for Girls was held at Freemasons' Hall , on Thursday , the 13 th inst ., under the presidency of Bro . Robert Grey , P . G . W , A list of 23 candidates for the election on thc 12 th

October was approved and declared , and the number of girls to be elected therefrom on that day was fixed at 16 . Subsequently , on the recommendation of the House and General Committees , R . W . Bro . the Earl of Lathom , Prov . Grand Master of West

Lancashire , was elected Trustee , in place of his father , the Earl of Lathom , deceased , while Bro . Walter H , Jessop , M . A ., M . B ., F . R . C . S . E ., was elected Honorary Surgeon-Oculist , vice Bro . Jabez Hogg , F . R . C . S ., deceased .

The Annual Convocation of the Prov . Grand Chapter of Surrey will be held at the Public Hall , Woking , on Friday , the 21 st instant , at 3 . 15 p . m . At 4 . 30 p . m . the annual meeting of the Prov . Grand Lodge will take place . In both cases the business ,

which will includ- ; the appointment and investiture' of the Prov . Grand Officers for the ensuing year , will be of the usual character . At 6 . 30 p . m . the customary banquet will be held , and those desirous of attending must apply to the Assistant Prov . G . Secretary , Bro .

W . A . Latham , 179 , Blackmars-road , S . E ., for ticketsprice 7 s . 6 d . each , exclusive of wine—at the earliest possible date . We will add that the London and South-Western Railway Company have very considerately arranged to issue tickets to parties of not

less than 10 brethren from any station on their line to Woking on the day in question at a single fare and a quarter for the double journey , three clear days' notice of their intention being given by those desirous of availing themselves of the offer to the Superintendent of the Line , Mr . Samuel Fay , at Waterloo Station .

* » * The Committee of Management of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution held their regular monthly meeting at Freemasons' Hall on Wednesday under the presidency of Bro . J . A . Farnfield , P . A . G .

D . C , the Treasurer , the principal business being the consideration of the Report of the Finance Committer ) , which was adopted aud ordered to be entered on the minutes . On the following day , the usual Summer Entertainment was given to the inmates of the

Institution at Croydon . There was a goodly muster of visitors , prominent among them being members of the Committee , with the Secretary and Mrs . Terry , every one taking the utmost delight in ministering to the comfort and pleasure of the aged residents . We hope to publish a full report of the proceedings next week .

* * * We regret , however , to hear that the respected Secretary is far from being in his usual health . We ought not , perhaps , to be altogether surprised that Bro . Terry should occasionally find himself indisposed .

We have been so accustomed to read of him working almost as resolutely and indefatigably as when he was new to the duties of his office , that we seem to look upon it as well nigh impossible that he should be ever out of sorts , and stand in need of his

accustomed summer holidays . We forget that for the last 35 years or thereabouts he has been labouring zealously for the Institution , firstly as Collector , and for the last 27 years as Secretary , and that the wear and tear of so protracted a term of arduous service must , in the nature of things , have been very great .

Our readers will be pleased to hear that he is about leaving for his holiday , and we most sincerely hope that , when he resumes his duties on behalf of the Institution he has served so long and faithfully and loves so well it will be with a renewed health and energy that will suffice to carry him successfully through a further term of years .

* » » We take the opportunity of reminding our readers that the annual meeting of the Prov . Grand Lodge of Middlesex will be held at Teddington on Saturday , the 22 nd instant , and we trust there will , as usual , be a full attendance of members and visitors . We trust ,

also , that Bro . Jamos H . Small , the Prov . G . Secretary , will by then have recovered his usual health , and be able to put in an appearance at the meeting . Thc annual convocation of Prov . Grand Chapter is fixed for Saturday , the 29 th instant , and will take place at the Mitre Hotel , Hampton Court .

» We heartily congratulate the Province of Cornwall on the addition that was made to its roll of lodges on Saturday , the ist instant . It is 13 years since the Cotehele , No . 2166 , Calstock , was consecrated . Indeed , the new junior lodge at Newquay , is only the

fourth that has been ushered into existence since 18 76 , from which year the St . Petioc Lodge , No . 1785 , Padstow , dates its warrant . In 1882 the Molesworth , No . llJ 54 , Wadebridge , was consecrated , and in 18 S 6 the aforementioned Cotehele Lodge , No . 2166 ; and now we have the St . Michael ' s , No . 1 : 747 , Newquay , making in all 31 lodges in Cornwall .

» * * The Charles Dickens Lodge , No . 2757 , was consecrated at the King ' s Head Hotel , Chigwell , on Tuesday , the nth instant , the ceremony being performed by the R . W . Uro . the Earl of Warwick , Prov . G . M . of Essex . Our report of the meeting will appear next week .
